  • This is a video tutorial that will walk you through the process of making a leather knife roll.
    This leather chef knife bag is the perfect companion for chefs, BBQ’ers, butchers, and anyone involved in the meat business or can be used as a personalized groomsmen gifts.
    The video tutorial will help you customize the leather chef knife roll pattern for your own set of knives.

    Featuring an adjustable shoulder strap, a handle and closed with two buckles, this chef knife roll is stylish and can make a beautiful gift for any cooking enthusiast.
    This project requires around 5.5 sq ft (0.5 sqm) of 5 oz (2 mm) leather for the exterior and the cover of the roll, around 5 Sq ft (0.4 sqm) of 4 oz (1.4-1.6 mm) leather for the interior of the roll, and some long pieces (maximum 43” (110 cm) of 7-8 oz (2.8-3.2 mm) leather for the shoulder strap and closing straps.
    DIMENSIONS
    Opened: 24/17” (60/44 cm)
    Closed: 17/4” in diameter (44/10 cm in diameter)
    MATERIALS
    BODY EXTERIOR & COVER: 5.5 sq ft (0.5 sqm) of 5 oz (2 mm) leather
    BODY INTERIOR: 5 sq ft (0.4 sqm) of 4 oz (1.4-1.6 mm)
    STRAPS, STRIPES, HANDLE: some scraps and a 43/1” (2.5/110 cm) long piece of 7-8 oz (2.8-3.2 mm) leather for the shoulder strap
    💡 It is advisable to cut the long pieces first.
    LINING FOR THE COVER: 2.5 oz (1 mm) stiff leather
    1 mm waxed polyester thread for the 1.5 mm holes

    2 X 1.2” (30 mm) buckles
    1 x 1” (25 mm) buckle
    2 X 1” (20 mm) D Rings
    TOOLS
    cutter
    1.5 mm hole punch (or pricking irons or diamond chisels)

    awesome roll a bag I started out making roll wrench bags me partner was a person at making you feel welcome it was 59 when he passed away I just started out welding he was known to be hard on his help, yes he was every week we get to have a new partner to work with to yea I keep him the taken yes he was remarkable craftsmen he has cancer in his brain I make him a welding jacket hand curved his company logo on the back of it to made a scroll had all the people who worked with him or known in from other jobs he had done 3 thousand + names were on the scroll
    he was burned with the scroll in his hands and the jacket
    the union hall asked me to make one for the hall and a year later we left the names up with the jacket with his logo on it

      it is called Prenadez in Romania, it is a polycloroprenic adhesive. It is a contact cement.

    What type of glue do you use along the seams prior to sewing?

      I use a polychloroprenic glue named PRENADEZ in Romania. It is diluted with tholuene.
