I cry every time I watch this man singing his heart out as the world collapses. He represents everything that Ireland once was, he is the embodiment of an entire way of life that is disappearing in front of our eyes. Peace be with you, Mick. You are everything I wish the world would return to--freedom, happiness, beauty, love and joy. Thank you for this beautiful video.
Discovered this during lockdown and as soon as I could see my Granda again I got him and played it for him on TV blaring while we were having a drink. Never knew then I would have been playing this at his funeral 10 months later. Glad we shared the moment together and he agreed this was the greatest version of this song he had ever heard. Listening to it now makes me choke up but this version was as fucking brilliant as he was to me. Out standing
Its saddens me deeply that no matter how much i sing this great song ; I will never sing it with as much passion and talent as this fella right here. Big booming voice. Great stuff!
Been 4 years since i left Cork - this song makes me equally sad and happy. Sad how i miss home, and happy that my home is Ireland. What a song, voice and country.
I was depressed of my head lying in bed and i seen this. And it brought life back into my body man. Best version ive ever heard since Luke Kelly. Thank you so much man. The seagulls know a good singer when they hear one.
Jesus this man has raw talent singing from his heart you can feel the raw emotion from his voice ..will someone give this gentleman a record deal Quick .reminds me of the late ronnie drew rip .👍👏
This is my da’s favourite song and means a lot to me, he passed away 6 months ago today from Covid. Know for a fact he would have loved ya mick, keep her lit 👌
hope people realise how very special this is ... just captures the soul of the song .... by far my favorite version of this song i ever heard .. and i have worked in music over 30 years at this stage of my life ...
This song makes me sad Mick reminds me of the old dublin The great people The people that didnt size ye up when ye first meet them . The crac was had hard working people but we always had the crac I feel we have lost our way the old dublin way . They where great days . I still love ye DUBLIN
Ive watched this 4 times today and its not 10am. Watched it a few times yesterday. For me its such a powerful thing, not just the song but the whole process. Lockdown shouldnt stop talent being shared so walk it out and belt it out at the same time. Defiance while singing about a prison. The irony of that and we all serving this sentence
This makes me think of my mum who passed away 25 years ago. She was irish but moved to Scotland when she was 16 . I feel so proud to be half irish and scottish. Proper Celtic through and through. This man has an amazing voice .
Mick. My father passed away in December aged 80, simply past in his sleep (blessing). He was a Derry man. His 2 favourite songs were "a Town that I loved so well"(obviously) and The Auld triangle. I cannot begin to express how much YOUR absolutely flawless renditions of these songs have helped me grieve and lament daily. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will always be on my playlist. God bless yu. 🙏
Hey Paddy it really is an amazing rendition. Just re-listening to it tonight, with 2 ice cold tins of Carlsberg😊 For me this is the anthem of the year Covid came to town. Hope you are well lad🇨🇮
Mick. I've been going into work every day since lockdown. Nothing special about it but the city centre in Manchester has been desolate at times. I was hoping some legend at the council would seize the opportunity and blast some music out from the rooftops to help lift moral. I originally wanted something like Al Green, Jackie Wilson or Stevie Wonder. but after hearing this. I've changed my mind. You can tell your Vocals were on form and you hit the sweet spot. Haunting and poignant. Maestro!
There is pride, power and a whole heap of Irish soul and culture behind this man's performance. When I think of our musical artists, this is what I see. ❤
@@markireland7541 Thanks for your comment Mark. It's a school of opera and we admit students based on their auditions. Certainly if I were a talent scout or an A and R guy who worked for a label I'd put him on the folk circuit and reap that sweet, sweet 10% commission for sitting on my ass while he sang like an angel.
I'm practically speechless! I even loved the walking along while singing it! I remember Glen Hansard doing it with a lot of different artists at the Royal Albert Hall and it was fantastic but THIS is the bomb! F##king amazing!!!
I keep listening to this song over n over again . , its just heart warming n everything even the birds whistling adds to this powerful song . Well done mick . You ve done yourself proud n dublin n IRELAND PROUD . ABSOLUTE LEGEND OF A FELLA 👍

I really do not know where to start. An incredible voice and wonderful version of this historic song, Obviously set on a modern Dublin morning on Henry st with a backdrop of seagulls competing with an invasion of multinational shop brands. Surely the most beautiful and moving version of this song I’ve ever heard.
He blew it away. Needs to get it on iTunes or Spotify. And it needs to be as raw as this. What a voice he has
Sounds good but I can't see how it sounds so loud and clear without a proper mic in his face 🤔
It sure is a moving version alright... Moving half way down Henry street. 😂
