Beckfords go for really cheap in the UK, £1.50 each I found at one place online, shocking really as they are worth more IMO! Are you going to try to catch and raise the eggs?
While omg there are were so many stunning ones, for me, the dwarf and the hockeystick ones stood out. Frankly I had no idea there were so many different kinds...I knew there were a few...well done!
Sorry for the slow reply bud, just catching up! Thanks for the comment, there are 19 described species in total so we fell short! Now we are redoing our fish room planted/dirtied inspired muchly by you (5 aquariums down) we may go full on pencilfish and try and catch them all (like pokemon......... but in this case, buy them all, expensive). Gonna checkout your latest vid now :)
Not Naive at all bud, they aren't generally found in local fish stores very often so if you haven't come across them you would never know! They seem to be more available online especially in the UK at the moment! Thank you for the comment, happy to have brought these to your attention :)
Thanks mark as always bud! Pencil fish are probably going to be the main fish we personally keep in the fish room going forward as they are about as shrimp friendly as you can get and male-females are equally colourful! Agree with your preference 💯!! Appreciate you brother for sticking around and your support 👍👍❤️
I love watching your videos. The pics are so clear and detailed and have been very helpful for me to compose a list of fishes for my next community tank set up. Thank you for introducing me to many new types of fishes that I did not know about :)
Really appreciate the lovely comment, it really means a lot as you just summed up one of our channels main goals so super happy to know you are finding it useful and interesting in your hobby, thank you again sincerely!!
Only the 3 different types of Nannostomus marginatus (and probably the super red and cenepa red) can interbreed as these are more likely colour/pattern morphs based on the location they were found (they have not been scientifically described yet, so its a best guess that they are just colour morphs of the same species) hope that helps, thanks for your question :)
Not really no, they are all levels really, mainly bottom/mid level players… hatchetfish are 💯 top dwellers, 7 species including the Pygmy hatchetfish which is the smallest though not particularly colourful! Hope that helps but in our experience pencils, awesome and stunning as they are hover all over the aquarium…but not really at the top except for feeding time
Sadly no although we will def be trying to breed ours, some of the types can be found online, we recently got some cenepa red we will aim to breed for sure!

Thanks, bud; there are 19 currently described from the top of my head and about six as yet undescribed. A great little fish IMO :)
Amazing footage of one of my favs! My group of Beckfords recently started spawning 🥰

@@Aquadiction I am just letting nature take its course right now 😊 I get real excited when I see little guys poking their faces out of the moss!

Superb
Appreciate the comment bud!!
I've been looking for a peaceful top dwelling nano fish for my 20g. Do dwarf pencils stick to the top half of the tank?

Would you know of any breeders that I can get some from?
