I used to think to myself, especially in things like we will take you with us... how can you scream like that without wincing in pain at screaming from your throat like that. I'm glad to hear that he still has that tone, but there's more depth to it and you know that he's doing it right now
fucking majestic album, this song is already a classic. Well done guys and Simone you sing marvellously, that song is hard to sing but you have done brilliantly for a live performance. Long live the new kings and queen of symphonic metal.

Ligeia Noire Don't have to. Look at the tiny little cameras, for instance on the keyboard of Coen and on the drumkitt of Arrien. With those little things it's impossible to record a sound as we hear it. Those things are put there only for the images. Compare the song as you hear it on the video with the sound on the album. It's exactly the same. Nevertheless is Epica live one hell of a band. Saw them twice this year (Groningen and Leeuwarden) and they are live awesome.

Mario Lorist You can't be serious. Even aside from the blatantly different EQ between the two, listen to the differences in Simone's phrasing, especially on the chorus. I'll give you this, her voice is most likely pitch-corrected judging from some of those robotic snaps, but this is definitely NOT the album audio. They most likely pulled the sound directly from the PA, brought the stems into a studio somewhere, and had a quick mix created from that.

Simone Simons, such a divine voice and presence in the metal scene
Heavy , coherent and dynamic sound, crystal clear vocals. They are doing really a good job, consolidating themselves as the best on this genre.
Oh, how I love Epica, and how I hate their lighting guy. Ruining Retrospect doesn't seem to be enough.
+tarjaww While watching the video, I was thinking that it can't be worst than Within Temptation's lightning guy. Elements was beautiful to see, but horrible on the DVD, and you couldn't even see the band during their last tour xD.
Simone is not a human, she is a godess avatar from a higher spiritual
dimension. Epica is the most creative best sounding band/act in modern
time, musicallity beyond..... And yes, I'm 56 years old, with 35 years in the music business.... Not many acts has affected me this profound....
Guturais do Mark estão ótimos nesse álbum.
This deserves way more views, what a great performance by the whole band and Simone sounds so good. This is not an easy song by any means and she pulls it off so well.

Ariën doesn't get enough attention for his drumming, no where near enough. He's damn good in the studio versions like this but live, he's in a different universe, he does the funkiest, off the wall, off beat kicks but damn if he isn't amazing. Ariën and Isaac joining the band was one of the best thing's that could of happened in my opinion, their styles blend better with the rest of the group and really allowed mark to unleash all the heavier ideas he had wanted to do.

Saw them Feb. 2nd 2016 here in Atlanta....one thing marked off of my bucket list. As a 52 year old lifelong metalhead, and a fan of this band for almost 15 years, it was one of the musical highlights of my life. They were supremely tight musicianship-wise, and phenomenally entertaining....and good Lord is Simone freaking gorgeous ! STILL smiling 2 months later 😀

What a brilliant song, never bored to this for many years 😄 In my ears they start from like oriental/middle east vibe in 0:43, then switch to jazzy feel by 1:13, finally the chorus 1:28 use a pop progression. All of them are very well blended with metal aggression

This metal is pretty damn heavy. I don't like it as much as more symphonic songs, but it's still pretty good.
+Jeffrey Stevens Check out their first album, the Phantom Agony (2003) or their second, Consign to Oblivion (2005), you'll find pretty awesome songs there. Epica really has masterpieces of songs (this one included!).
