pro tip: put your 2nd weapon over rigour/augury (or whatever prayers you're using) in your inventory so that every time you switch weapon you barely have to move your mouse to do both weapon and prayer switches
Small tip someone might find useful, there's a newish setting on entity hider that hides dead NPC's so you can instantly spam left clicks to pick up your shards/frames/weapon upgrades.
Another helpful bit of info for the third phase: put tile markers on both tiles two tiles in from every door (or count three tiles in starting with the door's tile). These are safe tiles that are never dangerous for the floor patterns during the third phase so you can focus on DPS and then avoiding tornadoes.
Just for the record, the route for a consistent t2 armour prep is quite different. So anyone struggling to squeeze in a t2 prep - this guide isn't quite right for it.
another tip for if you dont have augory and rigor, if you see yourself having a lot of prayer left, you can flick steel skin for a little extra defence
As an iron without dex/augury, getting T2 down helped drastically improve my success/death ratio at CG. It went from 12/125 on the board to currently 160/142. Cheat sheet is 7 of each resource and roughly 500 shards; that'd be T2 armor, two perfected weapons, and at least 3 pots if you're being paranoid. generally end up gathering 12-16 fish and only using 6 or 7, but the rest cover mistakes nicely. Slow completions are much better than frustrating deaths imo. Also, Hally and Piety fucking slap, very much worth getting comfortable with the halberd. Hitting 40's makes things go very quick, and will teach you how to path around tornados well.
though the guy isnt wrong, hally + piety does absolutely slap at lower levels its still pretty easy to lose a couple of runs per hour to noodeling on the boss or bad gathing rng that means you fail to get t2 in time. also worth runing the tick tracker plugin to know if the world your on is ok or having a jamflex moment, you'l easy lose another run per hour if your world is behaving badly. even gods with max stats lose gauntlet runs, so dont get demotivated if your trying with lower stats and realise that 100% just isnt going to happen. and if you are going to learn an advanced strat make leaning how to move the boss by stepping under without getting stomped the priority as it'll let you have those few extra seconds to make t2 prep work rather than waiting at the door for the boss to be in a good spot.
Ok here's my 2 quick tips. 1) Don't use the attack counter plugin. It's just going to either confuse you when you get out of rhythm and it's going to prevent you from just learning the boss subconsciously. Like some people mentioned, it only takes a few kills before you can see the attack style change animation out of the corner of your eye. 2) Embrace Halberd. If you're like me and don't have Rigour or Augury but do have Piety, I've found that the halberd hits high super consistently compared to the bow. It will also teach you how to maximize your DPS and encourage you to up your level of play which is important in end game content.
This is a great guide but i highly recommend to new comers, play with the sound on. There is a particular sound that hunnleff makes when he is changing attack styles. This made things much easier for me because now i dont have to listen to 3 2 1 mage/range or click i got trampled when i got trampled. Trust me, its a game changer, also, tick eat food, make 4 or 5, its worth more for the dps you get
This is a great guide! I will say though, I don't find any flicking to be necessary in all of cg as someone with about 500 kc on my ironman. I build t2 staff for my weapon to kill demibosses and simply dont use mystic might until im at hunllef. I run with 2 leafs worth of potions and I pretty much never run out, whether its in t1 or t2 armor runs. If i find my prayer to be a bit low in p2 and p3 hunllef, I will simply turn off steel skin when hunllef is maging, as it provides very little benefit then. Overall very solid guide for the basics of cg, good luck with your enh on the gim!
Woah! I haven’t seen a mudkip guide drop in ages :p. Learning sepulcher rn which is super fun, but maybe gauntlet will be next on the list now that this guide is out :). Keep up the great videos!
I know a lot of people say it’s “nooby” but do regular Gauntlet to learn mechanics! Once you feel comfortable with regular try a CG run. If you struggle go back to regular and run some kills TRYING to get t2 armor, then little by little try to get it within the 7:30 CG time limit. Regular gauntlet will give this that 2:30 mins of “error” to try and get things down! Hope this helps!
I instead recommend practicing regulat Gauntlet with T1. You'll get used to the damage rates. Then do CG with T2. It's same amount of damage you take from boss. Just have to learn different prep.
I literally did 100 normal gauntlet clears before switching to CG and it let me go into the Hunnlef fight completely confident. Just had to learn the prep, which was also easier since i was so used to the movement.
This is a good idea. Another stepping stone is try to get the combat achievement for regular where you kill the boss without making any armor. Once you make a perfected bow and staff, just get a full inv of food and letter eat. Im basically trash and was able to do it 4th try. Them damn naders
I did 100 Regulars and ended up getting a friggin Enhanced weapon seed on 87th KC. Never been lucky like that before in the game until then. Sold a buncha stuff after that to get all the Armour and now I have my own bowfa without any cg done o.O lol
If you have an extra 40 corrupted shards at the end of your run it might be a good idea to upgrade 4 or so of your paddlefish to corrupted paddlefish which is essentially acts as a karambwan in the minigame, but it does heal 4 less hp than a regular paddlefish, so don't make too many.
To add to this, attack every 3 tiles you step on and instantly click away the same tick you attack. If you step 5 or more times use that time to fill in the missed ticks. Normal food is 3 ticks and food like karambwans take 2 ticks. Make combo food if possible, when you find yourself running from the tornados and can't attack on your 3rd tile (3 ticks), eat. If you run on 2 tiles (I'm referring to the tile you actually step on not just 2 tiles away) and attack your character will waste a tick standing still and the tornados will catch up to you even though you attack. So you should attack step step step attack step step step attack. If you attack step step step step then eat step attack. This fills the lost tick of running with eating and allows you to attack instantly still.
2:09 Also worth mentioning that total level worlds are bad to boss on, every few minutes is a guaranteed fat tick, which can mess up your Hunleff counter if you use one
@@BtwTiny game ticks are normally .6 seconds long. A fat tick is a tick that takes longer than .6 seconds. Total level worlds have these every few minutes so one tick will take say 2 seconds instead of .6, making the hunleff counter be off by 1.4 seconds.
I tend to do tier 2 armour these days to make it more lazy at hunleff and just bring 1 potion Generally speaking its about 9 to 10 min per run but I find it more reliable. Ive had unlucky runs where with tier 1 armour, hunlef did too much damage trough prayer. Can always bring a second potion if you have under 80 prayer and base 80 combats ofcourse Edit: this method isnt "better" or anything btw, its just the strat that I prefer and it might help people that are struggling with the bossfight, but in the end its slower and less effective
I always did T2 since lower stats and not so good player. Makes Hunleff much much easier. I have 261kc with 39 deaths in corrupted. If I went for T1 I'd probably have 50kc or 100kc and 150 deaths. Thank god there was youtube T2 prep with full food guide which has very consistent and easy prep.
If you're maxed combat and have augury/rigour you should do T1. T2 armor is equivalent to 5 paddlefish and is not worth it unless you're learning and are struggling at hunllef. Those 1-3 mins to collect the extra resources for T2 will really add up if you commit to grinding gauntlet.
@@IAmAlteringTheDeal the max combats make a hell of a differnce it seems? im 95 all besides 90 deff an 75 pray. t1 seems doable but very inconstent. if the tornadoes are being kind then sure theres enough time to eat up in that phase but half the time im still coming out of that phase at a defecit. (only from chip damage). maybe im just really bad at keeping dps up? practically to me the differnce between t1 and t2 armor seems like around 8 to 12 paddelfish rather than 5. the calculation between doing t1 and 2 seems also really hard because youll lose maybe 1 or 1.5 runs per hour to shit gathering rng if youre trying for t2.......
Yo man, i am always amazed that people play with standard f keys and dont remap them to actual useful keys. Runelite allows you to remap them to keys like q,w,e,r etc etc which just make them way more accesable (at least for me coming from a WoW background). Just thought this may be helpful!
Tip: if you're running 3 potions, crush 40 shards, get 4 grym leaves, and 3 vials. When running around the rooms, and using prayer throughout the run, drink 1 dose first and decant the last 2 doses into 2 (4) doses, and you'll have 1 (3) potion. If you drink first and decant, your vial won't break, assuming you have that option on. Saves you time from making another vial
I'm pretty familiar with CG (still trash though), but the info about the various plugins and especially left-click dropping the tools and fish was nice! Thanks and as others have said I'd like to see more of these for whatever content you're doing in the future :D
another tip for ya'll after my 1050 kc in corrupted gauntlet; if you got spare shards in the end, spend it on 5-6 tick fish. That way you can double eat during nados and therefore dps the hunllef more. If you spend less time eating, you spend more time dpsing the boss and therefore use less food. Good luck to you all!
Seeing sub-100 ping worlds on your list was a real throwback for me. I moved to Alaska last year and sit comfortably at 120 on lowest ping world. Great guide!
btw if you have extra shards left over (like Mudkip had in his run) use them to make crystalised fish at the singing bowl as they are basically like karambwans, they tick eat meaning they don't interrupt you while you're attacking so you save multiple ticks every single time you heal, which incidentally is pretty damn often for corrupted gauntlet. freaking hunleff slaps HARD through prayer, not to mention if you're late on a prayer switch. so yeah never drop shards because literally every time you finish the prep rooms you'll almost definitely have some left over which can go on the fish
Thanks for the guide. When I saw your last video last also wanted to ask about a guide but never did. I wasn't really sure if people made tier 2 armor or not. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't it sorta depends on how drunk I am when playing. I only have about like 20 kills though. I feel like my resource run is about the same as yours when I do tier 1, but I waste time backing once I have a weapon frame and 80 shards to get a tier 2 weapon to get the demi bosses and wolf/scorp/unicorns as I pass. Maybe that's a waste of time though, every few runs I'll run out of time.
Oh god that hunlief helper plug in is a godsend. I'm pretty ok at everything else in the fight but the amount of damage I take because of missed prayers mean I always run out of food before I can get the kill. BoFA, here I come!
i was told by a friend that all the time you spend dropping items (like fish) is just more time you spend picking them up. when doing my first rotation, i take note of the fish spots, but i dont grab any until after ive made some armor
I drop the fish in the starting room because I like having a full inventory of fish for the final fight. Sometimes I have unlucky kills where I use up all my food so I think its worth the extra 4.8 seconds for me since I usually have a minute or 2 to spare when I go into hunllef, rather than risk wasting 10 mins
@@WildMudkip yes i agree, using the full prep time to get the kill is better than not getting it. not grabbing the food at the start allows me to grab a full t2 armor from first rotation if im lucky. i dont think it has a drastic effect on prep times, your t2 time is slightly better than mine. great video today :)
I've been struggling to get enough food while trying to get t2 armor. I'll give t1 armor a go and hope that give me enough time to fill inventory with food.
The ll in hunllef is a sound we don't even remotely have in English but you make it by making a fricative sound between your tongue and the ridge in the front of the roof of your mouth behind your teeth while pulling in the sides of your tongue. The IPA is /ˈhɨ̞nɬɛv/. So its basically heen, then that weird lateral fricative, then ehv (yes the f is pronounced like a v) Sorry for the phonetics lesson but I'm a linguistics nerd lol
haven't watched the whole thing, but when you mention the ironman situation of not having rigour, the halberd is somewhere around 6 levels stronger than the bow if you have piety but no rigor. As in the bow with only eagle eye at 91 ranged is roughly equivalent in dps to the halberd at 85 attack and strength with piety. Akin to saying that the bow is actually pretty bad dps without rigour at the same level as the halberd with piety and the staff with mystic might. Really only relevant information if you aren't mid-high 90s, and don't have rigour.
appreciate this comment, i needed it. i've been running strictly mage/range (90/89) and dont have cox prayers but ive piety with 94 str. so many melee bosses i toss up as "resets" or w/e bc i wanted range/mage demiboss.
The 2 tiles that are directly 3 tiles in from each door is a safe tile during phase 3. Your character also stops auto attacking when Hunllef switches prayer. During phase 3 you can path to the previously mentioned safe tiles diagonally, it is 100% safe in all but one pattern(and in this one if the tiles aren't lit up its safe) and as long as you aren't pathing under Hunllef. So when you are learning just path diagonally twice and then straight across in a triangle. If you time it right you will never come close to tornadoes or the lava tiles. The last phase is like a survival trial not anything else. When tornadoes start focus up and move, making sure you don't start fight with Hunllef in the center. Once tornadoes are done just stand 3 tiles in from any door and just focus on DPS and your prayers.
Up to 30 cg kc and like 105 deaths. Thought I was getting better but the last few days I'll try a few attempts and just die every time and get mad and log off for the day. Tried t2 but never have time to get enough food. T1 I always get the 2 t3 weapons, 2 pots, full armor, and full invy of food. I'm just bad at the game
a tip op forgot to mention is that he disables your prayers only during his magic attack rotation so it's most likely you'll need to pray against magic
Ty! I much prefer zulrah because once you memorize the rotations the boss because braindead to fight so I can watch youtube on the side. CG is harder because I die like 5-10% of the time vs. at zulrah I've died once in 1000 kc which was dumb and preventable but I always risk it there anyways
U say it's a puzzle another one if anyone has watched tastys fire cape vid he describes it as like a rhythm game when u think of the tick system and changing prayers weapons etc
I wouldn't use the gauntlet helper plugin. It is much easier to watch the animation. If he rears his tail and doesn't attack, than he is changing attack style. And that animation is so significant and shiny, and a bit longer than the normal attack animation, you cannot miss it even when you are not exactly focusing on the npc animations, like when you run from tornados. The thing with the plugin is that when you get stomped, which - as a beginner - you will do, you won't instantly click the "I got stomped" button, but eat up, because he hits hard. And if you only change your prayer when the plugin tells you, then you can be messed up pretty easily. I couldn't manage a single kill with the plugin, then I started noticing he pretty noticably communicates when he changes style with the animation. So I ditched the plugin and I could manage the kill.
Hunleff helper plugin was so damn annoying lol... I tried to use it but man just couldn't do it. Way too annoying. Glad I kept doing it over and over until I just passively memorized everything lol
Hey comment section, first time GIM (first time iron, which is my main funnily enough) ive never really bossed before. would anyone be willing to help me? maybe some starter GWD? Then hopefully eventually i can do stuff like CG. Just need some friends willing to guide and help!! Thx in adv :))
1:06 It's definitely not pronounced the way most people say it and it definitely isn't a made up word lol. There's a lot of Welsh words around this area, for example the Hunllef itself translates to "Nightmare", and it resides in Prifddinas (translates to "Capital City") which is pronounced "Preev-thin-ass" (lol). Loads of Elves around the area have authentic Welsh names such as Eluned, Anwen, Llio, Derwen and many more. As a fluent Welsh speaker it's always a bit cringe hearing your language getting butchered in terms of pronunciation but in fairness most haven't heard of it. Happy to answer any questions about the language too, fun fact: Its home to one of the longest place names ever "Llanfairpwllgwyngychgogerychwyndrobwyllllantesiliogogogoch". I'll like the next vid if you can try pronounce that😉
if you're meant to be good at movement in this game, you would not need a 3rd party plug in for it to be possible to do a lot of high end pvm. Why wouldn't true tile be part of the game?
I have angered many welsh people by disrespecting their language
I’m currently in Bangor, North Wales and I can tell you that you wouldn’t be the first nor the last to do so.
I knew hunleff was welsh for nightmare cause its also in rs3 and i went to make a comment and saw this and im cracking the f up

Oh god that hunlief helper plug in is a godsend. I'm pretty ok at everything else in the fight but the amount of damage I take because of missed prayers mean I always run out of food before I can get the kill. BoFA, here I come!
thanks for this!
Hunllef isn’t a made up word, it’s Welsh. It translates to nightmare, so technically there’s two bosses in this game called nightmare
liked for 1:13 someone finally gets it
i was told by a friend that all the time you spend dropping items (like fish) is just more time you spend picking them up. when doing my first rotation, i take note of the fish spots, but i dont grab any until after ive made some armor
Very good guide. Thank you!
So its basically heen, then that weird lateral fricative, then ehv (yes the f is pronounced like a v)
Sorry for the phonetics lesson but I'm a linguistics nerd lol
Thanks mate needed this
Np hope it helps!
awesome guide as I'm trying to learn gauntlet. ThankS
Funny enough I've been considering gauntlet and I'll be damned if I didn't happen to find yours while scrolling.
haven't watched the whole thing, but when you mention the ironman situation of not having rigour, the halberd is somewhere around 6 levels stronger than the bow if you have piety but no rigor. As in the bow with only eagle eye at 91 ranged is roughly equivalent in dps to the halberd at 85 attack and strength with piety.
Akin to saying that the bow is actually pretty bad dps without rigour at the same level as the halberd with piety and the staff with mystic might. Really only relevant information if you aren't mid-high 90s, and don't have rigour.
appreciate this comment, i needed it. i've been running strictly mage/range (90/89) and dont have cox prayers but ive piety with 94 str. so many melee bosses i toss up as "resets" or w/e bc i wanted range/mage demiboss.
great guide and all but can you make another guide on how to get the drops? ty in advance
step 1: be an ironman
step 2: be a content creator
hope this helps!
Stream and record! Glad to help!
Will do thanks a lot to both
king shit, thank you Mudkip!
Glad to help!
I'm with ya brother. I'm running up on 100 deaths, gotta be. Scared to look tbh. Got about 13kc.
a tip op forgot to mention is that he disables your prayers only during his magic attack rotation so it's most likely you'll need to pray against magic
Kip i don’t play rs but i found your guide very useful, thx bby
tier 2 armor is for chumps and hardcores, good video!
I actually needed this tyty
Good job bro
ty now I can learn gauntlet
Np hmu for private tutoring
Always appreciate your videos. You being someone who has done a lot of Zulrah historically and now CG, which do you prefer? Which is harder for you?
cg is some of the hardest endgame solo content. zulrah is like the early side of midgame bosses. gl on your bossing adventure homes
Ty! I much prefer zulrah because once you memorize the rotations the boss because braindead to fight so I can watch youtube on the side. CG is harder because I die like 5-10% of the time vs. at zulrah I've died once in 1000 kc which was dumb and preventable but I always risk it there anyways
@@WildMudkip risk it muddaddy
i dont even play osrs bur watched it anyway. its interesting seeing how people think of the game i'm watching
Armo(u)r is a nice touch :)
Hunllef actually isn’t a made up word. It’s welsh, like all of the other elf things in RuneScape and it means “nightmare”
Please do Solo Olm guide
My stats must not be good enough to run T1 armour. Every time I try he just shreds me before I can kill him
probably just need to maximize dps. I've done t1 armor since 85 mage and range, base 75 melee stats, and no augury or rigor. also on 170 ping
Vertical camera gone now?
Love your videos, always watch them when im eating or doing stuff. Im 450 kc in CG and still no bofa ;(
Tyvm! Hope you get it soon!
I honnest to god have no idea what I'm doing wrong.. atm I'm 2 and 40 kdr at the corrupted gauntlet
1:14 Fun fact: Hunllef isn't a made up word, it's Welsh for nightmare
I'm at the "get good" phase of learning this fight... and the pain is real
Thanks for the guide. Fyi, hunllef is from the Welsh language, it translates as 'nightmare'
THANK YOU!!!
Hunleff helper plugin was so damn annoying lol... I tried to use it but man just couldn't do it. Way too annoying. Glad I kept doing it over and over until I just passively memorized everything lol
amazing thank you
good but please please put the halberd on aggressive its better dps not the shared onec
Oh so it’s like dungeoneering. Got it
I see Mudkip succumbed to the comment section. LOL
Hey comment section, first time GIM (first time iron, which is my main funnily enough) ive never really bossed before. would anyone be willing to help me? maybe some starter GWD? Then hopefully eventually i can do stuff like CG. Just need some friends willing to guide and help!! Thx in adv :))
thanks dood
Nice
Hunllef isn't just a made up word in a game, it's Welsh (as is a lot of the Prifddinas content) for 'Nightmare'.
Nice
You know it be great if there were some real life plug-ins too
I still suck, help
even tho i have over 500kc i like watching what other people do
Alright time to try it on mobile!
I'll like the next vid if you can try pronounce that😉
i think everyone with prif unlocked has runelite
just hit 800 kc today no enhanced lmao fuuuureaking love gauntlet nam sayin
Also if you are trying to run through tornados you need to wait until they are 1 square away from you otherwise they will hit you.
didn't work. it's impossible to beat hunleff with t1
it took me 22 attempts to get my first kc
if you're meant to be good at movement in this game, you would not need a 3rd party plug in for it to be possible to do a lot of high end pvm. Why wouldn't true tile be part of the game?
World 474 is gamers
My one and only cg kc was on mobile. Was intense af
