    Nice to see someone thinking outside the sphere on this tool. I bought one because I could see that potential too. I have only managed one session so far but I like it. I'll have more time after Christmas. Thanks for the video.

    Enjoy watching your channel and the manor you present the topics. This was something different and interesting. My favourite was also the square bowl and in some way I think the bowls have much more appeal to them made like that rather than on a lathe.

    You definitely have a good eye for detail John and your dough bowl is my favourite piece from today’s video. Magic results from your new “toy”

    Very nice work John, really like the square bowl. Was thinking of getting a lathe but after watching this you have changed my mind and will look about investing in the Sphero plane.

    The dust collection is great on that. The square bowl is my favourite one but the dough bowl is a close second.

    Another great video John. I’m curious how you found the sharpness of the cutter after all that hardwood? Do you think it will last a while and can it be easily sharpened?

      The carbide cutters where still good they can be rotated and then replaced if necessary. I'm not sure about sharpening I will have to look into it.

    Great video John. Interesting bowls. what will you do with them now?

    Can’t believe how little chips and dust it created. Is that due to your own dust collection or the dust management of the tool itself?

    • @JohnMcGrathManInShed
      @JohnMcGrathManInShed  5 часов назад

      I have it hooked up to a powerful extractor, so that helps. It did produce a lot of chips making the dough bowl, but no fine dust.

    John, would you say it's worthwhile buying the Arbortech Power Carving unit or would you recommend just buying a regular variable speed grinder to save the sanding discs from burning up? I just received shipping notice for my Spheroplane. I could see maybe adding the turbo plane blade to my kit at a later time. The Power Carving Unit has a leveling guide included in the kit as well as the larger sanding pad. Merry Christmas! curious what your thoughts are!

    • @pctatc66
      @pctatc66 Час назад

      Rockler in the usa has the Power carving unit on sale for $239 ($40 off!) and the turbo plane is on sale for $139 (20 off)

      I would and I will probably order it myself. Happy Christmas to you and yours.

      I weighed the pros and cons of buying a cheap variable speed grinder vs buying the Power Carving Unit. I went with the Power Carving Unit mainly because of the dust/chip collection ability the Power Carving Unit has when using the 4" sander as well as when using the Turbo Plane!. At that 239 price it was a no brainer.

      @@JohnMcGrathManInShed Thank you sir. I did in fact just order it and the turbo plane. Cant beat the chip/dust extraction the Power Unit offers over a plane jane variable speed grinder!
