    For people worrying about the low volume, which it could've been at one point, Steelseries released a firmware update for the headset which deactivates the limiter. Or rather YOU can deactivate that on the gamedac then. That makes it around 6 db louder. Btw I got it yesterday and I'm loving it. I always valued nice sound and this is by far the best piece of headset I've ever owned.
    They had to ship it quieter because volume regulations in different countries.

    I've been testing these for the last week and I've decided to keep them. This sounds about as good as the 990 pro's with the soundblaster g6 and modmic for about 100 dollars less. the volume issue you ran into, you will run into more thanks to EU regulations. In the USA you can set it to a high gain mode that fixes the low volume and is plenty loud. If you still have the headset, update the firmware and in setup you can tell it you do not live in the EU to test the high gain mode for yourself.
    These are incredible cans for the money. Especially considering you get a Sabre DAC in the deal.

    been using for almost 2 years. the sound is amazing and very comfortable to the head. personally the most comfortable headset i've used. overall experience is incredible. BUT one major complain and should be noted for those who wants to buy, the hinge that connects between the earcups and the headbands is very small and couldnt stand excessive force. a friend of mine borrowed it and try to wear it by grabbing the earcups. when it goes a bit too far it suddenly snaps and is beyond repair. so just a heads up treat it nicely and always grab it by the metal bands. those are the real ironclad

    The volume is because anything below 0 is reducing the db of the headset from the source volume. So basically you would keep it at 0 all the time and change volume from the PC. You'd use the volume control to reduce volume if you need to.

    Crazy with so many headsets and opinions on which is best. Ive read and watched sooooo many articles and videos on which is best, but they all end up leaving u scratching your head and more confused than when you started. Ive had older turtle beach headset 1st on my xbox360 and they gave me headaches after every use. I then bought a standard jvc non gaming and used the dss2 dolby 5.1 processor and the surround detail has always been so much better to give me a nice open space surround. Eventually i wanted something new to test and got the hyperx cloud 2 with the 7.1 dongle. However for pc its fine, but ps4 its just a more clear higher sound. But it doesnt really give me the surround detail to pinpoint exactly where someone is in fps. So my old dss2 is still offers me the best surround with any headphones and on any console using the optical port. Ive been looking for another headset that i can compare to my older dss2 but im no closer as everything i read, the nxt person says its rubbish, falls apart, etc. I just might stick to what i know and trust. Ive had it years, never let me down, save money and put a little more towards the money to buy a decent 4k, hdr tv. lol.

    I've had the Pro for over 2 years and really enjoy them still. Main complaint is how easy the volume knob is to mis-rotate. I agree that *sometimes* the max volume isn't loud enough when you really want to get enveloped in the sounds. But they sound solid, the surround helps with FPS games, and I can easily switch this over from my PS4 to my PC. If you can find it for a price you'd like, the Arctis Pro is a really solid choice. This review has me looking up gamedacs, I'm considering adding it if I can find it for 30-40ish used...

    Only good things to say about this headset! Quality headsets need an analog converter to achieve their full potential. I feel Steelseries are going the right way. The clearcast microphone on the Arctis pro is surprisingly good, which cannot been said about most other gaming headsets. And finally the fact the headset can produce 40,000 hz just indicate how clean the sound is!

  • @SeanBlader
    @SeanBlader 6 лет назад +7

    The volume issue is not with Steelseries, I asked their support same thing about my Siberia 840 headset and the official response was, "A new volume-regulating standard went into effect in mid-2013 applying to all new battery-powered headsets, called EN50332. This is intended to reduce people’s exposure to potentially hearing-damaging sound levels. EN50332 is a standard that all new headsets from all manufacturers must comply with. our headsets allow volume up to the maximum output permitted under EN50332." So when I run my Windows volume at 100% I still end up running the headphones volume at about 60% under just everyday use, and going to 100% on the headphones is not really loud, it's kinda meh. This is why we can't have nice things. Moral of the story I guess is to go with direct wired headphones and hope your PC sound board has the quality to get it done.

  • @LazyGibbon
    @LazyGibbon 6 лет назад +3

    I'm currentlu using the Arctis 5 and I don't think it's as bad as everyone says. With some adjusting to the EQ you can create a pretty awesome sound and you just have to position your mic differently (more shoved in) for it to sound better. Sure it might not be as good as Sennheiser 6xx's but those are way more expensive and for the money I think the Arctis 5's are a great deal.
    These Arctis Pro headsets however are a bit of a joke to me. So much extra cost for that small of a difference is just BS and for that money I'd suggest just buying cans and a modmic instead.

    @HardwareCanucks, the vol. select is due to the volumen being displayed in dB, so 0 will be FULL vol. without any dampening, that's why you go to - 8 or - 16, ect. dB because you are damping the volumen so for people like me that's used to Pro audio equipment, it's quite normal :)

    This isn't useless at all. I love it. I can play games like PUBG or CS:GO with a friend next to me that is watching and he can hear as clear as i do and i can hear what i need to hear.
    Sure, not everyone is in that situation. But it universally functions as a audio out source which is great for many things considering you can put it anywhere in the house without needing a cable for example.

    Got this headset and I do recommend it, although Discord or windows had an issue with the mic quality but I can assure you it is very good and clear as I recorded some samples and they sounded excellent and with some fiddling in discord and the DAC I managed to improve the mic quality to near enough the same quality.
    Also as a handy tip, you can have the optical port connected to your PlayStation and the USB to your PC which will allow you to hear audio from both and adjust the chat mix from the DAC. However there will be no mic functionality on the PS4 as that comes through the USB, but you'll still be able to communicate on PC. When you have it set up like this the PlayStation will also not notice the headset meaning you won't be able to adjust the audio on the PS4 but you can do it through the chatmix on the DAC which works fine. Also since the the PS4 doesn't realize there is a headset connected audio will still come out of your audio set up so I'd turn that down.

    I use the ATH-m50x's with a FiiO E18 and the FiiO is plugged into the left side of my monitor which is where my USB 3.0 hub is with 4 ports on the side of the monitor. So running everything on the left with the coiled cable for the headphones isn't a problem for me. As for a mic I use a Samson Meter Mic since I needed something small that would tuck away under the monitor when not in use and the Meteor does just that which is great.

      Actually some audiophiliac explained reproducing sounds up to 40khz can make the sound worse because the drivers and hardware are focusing on larger scale instead of just focusing on the sound humans can hear. He said compact disc digital audio founded by phillips in late 70s is still the most reasonable way to go because it is measured to include everything human can hear. High resolution audio makes sense for studio and editing use because you have more leeway to play with, if that makes sense.

      Cujo26 There's actually little to no discernable difference. The claim that hypersonic sounds affect one's perception of music is, if I remember correctly, not factual. What I do know is that the main composer of the anime movie Akira is a huge proponent of this and actually did some studies on this and found positive results. However, the _if I remember part_ comes in with a meta-analysis finding the results of hypersonic music (e.g. 96 kHz sample rate or higher) inconclusive. Search "lachlanlikesathing hypersonic effect" more information.

      I also hoped that it is defect but I doubt it, there's nothing wrong with the headphone, just that the stereo image, details and sound stage is poor/not as good as other headphones (even after all the tunings i did which improved a bit, I found the best balance for competitive fps), otherwise it's a great headphone, really comfortable and light weight, wireless works great and the battery last longer than any gaming session i tried! its just the sound stage and imaging is not usable for competitive Overwatch, I don't really need it to be an "audiophile" headphone because I have other headphones to take care of music listening, I just need a headphone that I can position the enemy in my head before i see them, this Arctis 7 just does this quite poorly
