As you mentioned singing outside in the wind live and at the beginning singing acapella is incredibly hard and she knocked it out of the park. She also did the saxophone break with her amazing riffs which I have never heard anyone do that before. Everyone on the stage with the PHENOMENAL So Hyang, are famous/popular musicians and K-Pop artists. This installment of Begin Again Korea, was during the summer of the first year of the pandemic, when there distancing restrictions. This group traveled around South Korea performing mini acoustic concerts. The purpose was to comfort people during the pandemic. With exception of this performance, the audiences were small due to Covid19 restrictions, and selected through a lottery.
So Hyang had signed on for six episodes. This amazing woman performed throughout the pandemic, even though she has a compromised immune system. She has had eight bouts of pneumonia between 2016 - 2020. One bout of pneumonia in 2018, nearly ended her singing career.
This was on Begin Again Korea, 2020. There were 9 outdoor shows and Sohyang is on 6 out of them. They are all popular artists who traveled around South Korea to bring hope to the people during the pandemic. The line up of artist changes a bit over time as some leave and a few new ones come in. They all do solos, duets and back up singing for each other.

김소향 (Kim, So-hyang) is a South Korean singer who uses 소향 (Sohyang) as her stage name. She's up there with Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Céline Dion, according to David Foster, who worked with all of them, plus other big names in the music industry, such as Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Jackson. In fact, many vocal coaches and critics call her the Queen, and Dimash the King.
Here are several links to excellent performances by Sohyang. Many are from competitions where she pulls out all the stops and goes into vocal beast mode. The last 5 are more restrained. You can alternate between the styles, just to experience the contrasts and see her range of abilities. All are live, except for a music video of "Never Enough" (since we can never get enough of Sohyang).

BTW, Whitney's former manager saw the DMC Festival video of Sohyang singing "I Have Nothing", and contacted Oprah Winfrey, who in turn, contacted David Foster. They were all amazed. He invited her to sing on his tour in Asia. She did 8 shows in 4 days in Tokyo. Foster co-wrote that song. He arranged and produced it for Whitney for her album, and her performance in "The Bodyguard". Foster has won 16 Grammy Awards, including 3 for Producer of the Year, and has been nominated a total of 47 times.
I will suggest "Arirang Alone" that she sung on Immortal Songs 2. This is a beautiful Korean song.

Thanks for the reaction! All those musicians sitting beside So Hyang are themselves virtuoso performers. Some of them have said in interviews that they are all blown completely away when So Hyang starts to sing. There is something about being in the same space and hearing her voice that is magical. Her version of 'I Have Nothing' (another Whitney song) from the DMC Festival is perhaps the best live performance ever done of that song, including the original. I will leave you the link to that performance. It is so different from this as it is in front of a large crowd, but she certainly delivers like usual.

Not comparing any of those others to Sohyang because you can't. To let you know who those other people are her "groupies". The guy next to her is Henry a world class violinist and graduate of the Berkley College of Music in Boston. The 2 young ladies to her right are Lee Suhyun who has a beautiful voice and half of the famous duo AKMU with her brother. The dark-haired girl is Lee Hi who has had many top hits since sha was 16. Just a little context that is a TV show called "Begin Again". All the people in that video are worth giving a listen.
Agree with you except Henry, though proficient , and by his own admission is not a "world class" violinist.

I loved the way she sang it I just don't like when other people only praise a person who wasn't the original artist I love when people sing cover songs and make it there own.
Correction. Linda Ronstadt recorded this in 1975 after dolly's original. It is a fantastic version.

Great reaction. Just so you know. Although SoHyang is not as popular as other singers( K-pop and etc) in Korean public stages due to her lack of appearances (religious and health reasons), she has always been known as "The singer" among the singers. The Queen. Check her performance in " I have nothing". It is even crazier than what Whitney did. Also check a song called "Home" from her. You will see her true color.
The younger performers playfully referred to SoHyang as "mommy". If you watched more of the BAK performances, our favorite Diva acted very undiva like. It was obvious SoHyang loved being part of the young group, and was thoroughly enjoying herself.

Yeah. So Hyang really has no equal in the world of singing/sanging. Mori is a very close second. Maybe in another 10 years. So Hyang is 45, though she looks like 30+, and Mori is 26. Try "Everyone" to see what she can really do.
If you are going to sing a cover of a Whitney Houston song, you damn well better bring it and she brought it, in what appears to be a friggin shipyard no less. Puff puff pass 🙏✌️
