Your music is so incredibly spiritual & transcendent my brother! “Heaven Is A Junkyard” was the soundtrack to my addiction leading to my recovery. This next album is going to be just as good & maybe even better! I’m so thankful to be sober & not have that remorse of a “speed freak”. I feel sorry I’m a speed freak! 😭😭
“Heaven Is A Junkyard” was easily the most transcendent album of 2023. “Rarely Do I Dream” is already looking like it will be the best of 2025 from the singles. “Speed Freak” has such a cool sound. Incredible production. Emotional, mysterious lyrics as usual. “I feel sorry. I’m a speed freak.” 😭 ❤
I was just talking to my cousin about how as Youth Lagoon fans we feel like we are part of a secret club. And we are almost protective of it! It's so special.
Youth Lagoon is turning into the new Spiritualized. I’m genuinely surprised why more people aren’t more curious about all of his drug references in his music. Speed freak, junk yard, trapeze artist, junkies, etc. He’s also lost a lot of weight, has sunken in cheeks & dark circles under his eyes…he sings about drugs & looks like he’s on drugs. Hope he’s okay.
Dear Ben, I appreciate your concern, but I assure you I’ve never been healthier. I exercise daily, meditate for at least an hour a day, and am surrounded by divine beauty. As for my lyrics, my family has a serious past with addiction, and I’ve been open about this in interviews for years. As a teenager, I lost a family member to an overdose. This very same person is who got me into writing my own music. When the word “I” is heard in a song, it is so often assumed as direct autobiography. This is a dangerous and faulty assumption, as there are many more ways than self-centeredness to tell the truth. For whatever reason, “I” is perceived wildly different when read in a book. Now - for my appearance. I love the way I look. I’m still recovering from a severe drug reaction I had from an over-the-counter medication a couple years ago, but my digestive system has come a long way, and I feel confident, beautiful, and extremely proud of who I am. Love, - t
I think you are beautiful & incredibly fashionable. As someone who used to be VERY addicted to speed, this song feels triggering to me to listen to and feels very drug influenced like your most recent music. What message are you trying to send with this song? I don’t think you’re ugly by any means but when I was abusing meth I looked very similar. I’m very sorry if you felt judged in anyway by my comment I was genuinely concerned and wish you nothing but the best. I’m happy to hear you are taking your physical, mental and spiritual health seriously.
@ Absolutely I see what you mean. When I google the definition of speed freak it always comes up as a stimulant addict specifically meth…I think Trevor is very aware of this
What brilliant news. It will inevitably help me navigate the jungle of 2025.

You know how conspiracy theorists love to feel like they’re part of a group that knows all the secrets? That’s how I feel as a Youth Lagoon fan.

Speed freaks are more likely to crash and be a hazard.
@@joshuamartinpryce8424 I don’t think he’s talking about driving my brother 😂
