Good stuff. Do you still have the little battery-powered Fronius welder? How has that aged? I would love to have a small machine that could run 7018 and 6010s.
I will also add this to the it’s not suggested to build a hitch from scratch, coming from a commercial driver that have seen some extremely questionable things, people tend to over load and over work a hitch.
Usually you pull choke for on and push for off. Cold start if you push the pedal once or twice to the floor the carb will squirt some gas in. Also helps to hold gas pedal 1/4 to 1/3 the way down when you are starting. (Pull air cleaner cover off and shine a light in carb while someone pumps the pedal. You will see what I mean.
I did build my hitch from scrap I had laying around, only thing ill say is it's definitely overkill for the truck. Doubled 2x3x0.325 tubing and 5" c channel before I forged the 2" receiver to it all. Also welded and bolted to the frame with 3/4" grade 8 hardware. For a 1990 f350. However, I have been giving thought to the liability of it all, just in case, though it's just a farm truck.
Sounds fine to me.😎 I would think that liability would really only be an issue, if building for someone else. Building for your own use...imagine the number of farmers who built stuff like that for themselves. Staggering numbers.😁
Have a friend who could not understand why my husband would not weld on his boat trailer. We explained the liability was unlimited. A few years later the large boat trailer had hitch problems and nearly drove by the towing Vehicle. Nuff said......
I build all my own receiver hitches. This way I know they are done right. I do not trust the Chinese to make a trailer hitch. I also would not trust their product liability to cover any failures that may occur.

Best channel on RUclips.
Your advice about building trailer hitches is excellent. BUY one and let someone else take the liability.
I welded a "D-Ring" on a step I made for the back of mt welding truck. It is a bit of a shin checker.

Put the same one on my little Frieghtliner truck , don't regret it for a minute.
Can u tell me what the width of the hitch is ?
Basically the measurement of your frame ?

what's the part number for that hitch I don't see the link for that in the video description and would it fit to a ford f700?
Job well done. Off topic, I was wondering if you have a favorite kind of cutting oil for drilling/tapping steel?
Dark thread cutting oil works best for me!

Liability is why I am glad to be retired.
Lawyers and no necks that want to sue for stubbing their own toe.
