I'm working on this feeling about blues playing in general, which is that if the singer can't sing it, you're not allowed to play it - I think it's a theory I need smashed around a bit, so have at it. But this is such a great example of how blues can be played so meaningfully. He does throw in these really cool legato runs for emphasis. Blues, to me, is about a very specific feeling and Robin has always really hit that inside me. Great patience and phrasing here. Nice stuff. Thanks for the post -
So many great things from Robben in this video. My favorite little part, however, is at 4:42, when Toss anticipates Robben wanting to bring it up a notch, but Robben simply stops playing, as if to say ''not yet", and Toss brings it right back down. Real pros with such great communication together.
First listening: This is obviously good but a little hard to listen to at times. You know, "serious" music. Second listening: OMFG! Third listening: OMFG!!!!! Unlike many here, my tastes are not very sophisticated. I'm tired of "ordinary" blues (even the best players) but this is full of unexpected and sublime wonderfulness. Just when I thought I was out (of the blues), Robben pulls me back in lol.
The best guitarist !!!
Yess!
I don't know how anybody ever makes a "greatest guitarist" list without Robben Ford at or near the very top.
Amazing guitar player.....great tone,..... great technique..... and lots of feeling ! A real master!
Great sound quality in this recording....thank you.
The best yet jazzy.🥰
