Mr. Herzog, I still have your autographed DVD of "The Atomic Bomb Movie" documentary. It's one of my favorite documentaries of all time! The video quality is stunning!

It's amazing to hear Herzog talk about his great classics, (The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser, Nosferatu, Stroszek, etc.) piracy, and mention a younger audience finding his work. I binged these movies a couple years ago, (wasn't quite 15 but around 19). I had to get my family to watch them. Kaspar Hauser is now a family favorite.
It's interesting to think that many people know Herzog as a dude from the Mandalorian, along with several other massively popular IP's that greatly contrast with Herzog's personal work, but now you can say "Y'know that old guy from the Mandalorian? You should go watch his movies".

I really got my family into Herzog as well - seems insanely unlikely retrospectively.. but then again, who could avoid liking him and his work fr
I am always rewatching his film’s / commentaries / interviews / rereading his books.. Such a legendary fixture in the best people this world has to offer

I think I was 10 when I saw my first Werner Herzog movie. It was Nosferatu. It was nothing like anything I'd ever seen and I didn't know how to take it, but after a few weeks, I couldn't stop thinking about it so I watched it again (my dad had bought it on VHS by accident, because the guy at HMV had given him the remake intsead of the original). I ended up rewatching it pretty much everyday for a year. Incidentally, when I finally saw the original, despite some of the scenes being visually nearly identically, it felt like I was watching an entirely unrelated movie. Both are magnificent, of course, but the 1922 film is a balls-to-the-wall horror whereas Herzog version is so much more like a gothic fairytale. When I was 12, I asked my mum to bring back Aguirre as her customary present from when she went on a business trip. After seeing that I was utterly hooked. Like I'd somehow found a kindred spirit almost.

I love Werner Herzog’s work and personality so much.. I wish I could afford flying out to hear him speak, and possibly speak with him about cinema, or simply have the chance to tell him what his films, novels, and interviews have meant to / inspired me.

    He speaks like Schwarzenegger.
    Also: He's a Genius.

“His enthusiasm outweighs his discretion” is an Herzog self-referential pown as filmmaker

That was a simple statement of opinion. It's cool if you don't agree, champ. Art is subjective, right?
