If every buck I encountered would walk up to me and let me check out his rack I wouldn't even hunt them. By far one of the coolest things I have ever witnessed with whitetail deer! Thanks for sharing.
The deer behavior looks like it may be CWD in an early stage. Loss of fear is a symptom of CWD. The brain gets so filled with holes the deer simply cannot think normally. Listlessness, such as the deer standing up, moving just a few feet, then laying back down is also a sign of CWD. Sad to see because this buck was probably dying. But if you suspect that any deer has CWD, always contact wildlife biologists who will want to monitor the herd in that area.
Deer is not blind, just couldn't wind the guy (he said the wind was perfect for a stalk) it can be very dry down in South Texas, scent doesn't linger (just watch some bird dogs when its warm and dry) That is a normal healthy 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 year old Texas deer Deer do eat things that can make them appear "drunk", look at deer in apple country, they will eat fermented apples (or whatever fruit, etc.) and get groggy or lil drunk He should be rested from rut by March, but horns may not shed until March or April It depends on hormones and the age of the deer. Brain abcess could give symptoms like drunken appearance, circling , weight loss and blindness, but this deer does not appear to have any signs of this disease May have simply stumbled into patch of South Texas Cannabis and is sleeping it off!
the deer appear off his center of heath and balance. His eyes half open and lethargic motions. Even his run was not a true burst . Maybe injured, sick or old. Still truly amazing. I had a much smaller buck come up to us ain our garden that show no fear. This was obviously raised by some as a pet.
Not an argumenitive person but as an animal behaviorist I can tell you this Buck has been around people before. I do not believe he was blind at all. If you look, he could see the Man. He also spoke to the man with a soft grunt when he walked up. If he would of been petted instead of his horns pulled he may not of run off. Not sure if he escaped where he was raised or what but he has seen folks before would be my guess.
Michael, Going to watch it again. It could be that he was so relaxed and tired that he is like me before Coffee! LOL. Joke there! I still feel like he did see the Man and that grunt was a social grunt acknowledging the Man. I could be wrong on it and Lord knows I have been before.
I think so or at one time was a pet that got out of hand. It happens a lot and esp with Bucks. I knew a girl once that when her pet buck started Rutting, he got mean as hell and attacked her. She cut him loose and even with an orange Vest on, somone shot him.
I live in a town with suburban deer. They are smart animals and have little fear. They walk on sidewalks and watch for traffic before crossing a street. I can walk up to them and they don't run. I was about 5 feet away and took photos.
Probably because there is no hunting or very little hunting in your area, deer are smart and know where they are safe. As cool as this is, people have gotten gorged trying this
I was behind a very large blown down tree just waiting and hoping for a buck to come along. 3 large Doe came right up on the other side of the tree two were about 10 feet from me and the one was 6 inches from the barrel of my gun. I was down wind . I froze in place for what it seemed like an hour. It was probably 10 or 12 minutes. I started to get uncomfortable from being still in one position for so long and I was also bored. So I pushed my gun barrel a few inches across the top of the tree and poked this doe in the ass. She jumped about Six foot in the air . The other two took off flying One doe lost her footing and went down on her knees . I busted out laughing . I could not stop laughing for a half hour. I laughed so much that I left the woods for early lunch because I knew everything in the whole area was spooked by then. LOL
Noah Myers you obviously don't know about hunting south Texas especially Deep South Texas. The brush is so tough through walk threw we have to feed them out on roads in the ranch called senderos. No they are not hand fed and no not all ranches are high fenced
possibly sick. We walked up on a similar situation 20 some years ago (except my brother put an arrow in it) When we gutted it we found that the bladder was the size of a large cantaloupe and the body cavity stunk to high heaven. We think kidney failure
There was nothing wrong with the deer you snuck up on him very quietly. The deer was curious just like any other animal would be. I’m sure this was before the hunts he wasn’t spooked by any gunshots or even cars passing by. That was pretty impressive!
I never get the good stuff on camera. Had a black bear and cub walk right up to me while hunting last year. Walked straight into an Elk (within arms reach) coming around a blind corner in the Olympics.
I would show this video to Fish and game for your area and have them evaluate this animal.Their specialist would know immediately whats going on with him.
Animals go into weird states of mind sometimes. People think that animals are just simple impulse reactors, but they are thoughtfull, they do strange things, they have shifts in moods or other things. That deer could've felt sick of life and just didn't care for a time, you both could've tapped into some higher form of thinking, where you were in a connected state of conciousness, which led to this occurence. You just never really know. One thing to think about is I have had experiences like this and at the moment you wanted the deers antlers, that started breaking the bond, If you think about yourself being a small innocent playful child, the scenario could have actually gone a lot further. You probably have a certain kind of mind that put you in that situation but it started to degrade as soon as you started thinking in terms of earthly want and desire for its antlers, reasoning with the season and that you may be able to "profit" something from the animal at that particular time, instead of being totally free minded. We used to have a cabin in the middle of no where and we walked out to the end of the dock and there was this huge water bird swimming around. My cousin was German and he started talking to it in German. I couldn't understand what he was saying but I thought it sounded very sweet and like he was speaking to a dear friend he hadn't seen in a long time. One thing I know he said was he asked the bird if it want to jump out of the water and onto its arm. The next thing you know the big Bird exploded out of the water and and jumped onto his arm. It sat there for a while and he talked to it some more, We even got pictures of it. Then he said Goodbye to it and it jumped off his arm back into the water and swam away. Pretty Crazy Huh. Stuff like that is real. People all over the world have experiences like that, but the don't get pictures or video recordings so everyone thinks it's an exageration, it's all about tapping into the innocence with genuine affection for life.
Could've been sick too, you'll never know I am an educated person who has spent more time in the wilderness than most. There is a true, deep spiritual connection of nature, our institutions don't teach us this yet strip us of it. My Father in Law lives in a shack in the northern pine forests of minnesota. He has a picnic table outside and we have dinners outside with groups of the most wild deer that come hang out so close you can touch them. They know it's a place of peace. Yeah we toss them apples and stuff, but what deer especially wild ones hang out with people even when there's food around. We don't even give them that much. It's all about your movements and your inner thoughts/peace, they pick up on that, and to the ones who understand this, they are the great recipients of the wonderous gem experiences which nature has to offer, that most other people never see, even hear about, think about, or concieve of. Your welcome.
Stephen Klick I know exactly what you mean. People are unaware that there really is another state of conscious. The pineal gland is a real thing. You broke it down very well. Unfortunate people will just think your a wacko.
Stephen Klick I agree there are a lot of spiritual connections between people and animals. You here these amazing stories of lions saving a young girl from her own kidnappers and then protecting her until her family arrived. Dear coming up to say hello to hunters. And even Elephants coming to humans for help when they are shot by hunters. Animals aren't as simple minded as we think they are. They are most likely on a higher plane of thinking than us because we've come so disconnected with the natural world around us. I mean you watch these documentaries or see animals in the wild. You sometimes swear they communicate between species, its actually very magical when you stop to think bout it. The animals understand that the lion kills the weakest or slowest Zebra, They don't question the natural order of the world like us humans do. They simple accept the fact that one day they will die, either by age, disease or predator, and that there bodies will be eaten by other creatures who will live on after they are gone.... Sorry I kinda humanized that spiritual thing when I probably shouldn't of, Just what I think n believe in nobody has to agree with me. Just there are some magical things that happen in the world that humans can't explain. Sometimes we don't need them explained, its best to enjoy those special magical moments when they come. And live your life to the fullest without any regrets.
Pheonix Fire Yup, I like it. They just know certain things. In certain our minds can access this, even as animals may go in and out of it, crucially serving their primal needs, but then connecting with the main stream and momentarily separating from life's strife to do wonderous things. The maritime moments of animals and people.

His rack would be shed if it was march. It's an old mature buck, and it's possible he's sick with CWD or something similar. This looks like it's sometime after the rut, and Bucks are generally real fatigued after the rut. They'll disappear for weeks once they've mated, and generally won't be seen again until late season where they start feeding heavily again to rebuild their strength for the winter. They don't really have to worry about that down south, but up north they do.
I have many whitetail deer in my yard. A couple of the big bucks let me pet them and even brush their fur. Whitetail deer are very sweet and trusting. I've never had one be threatening to me in any way.
People think every hunter is a nut job with a thirst for the kill. We hunt when it's legal to do so. We hunt when the food is needed. Those who trophy hunt though are like those who drive those massive jacked up trucks and own expensive things to make them feel " Superior" I guess the word is? They are a whole class of nut job in there own. Most hunters have some respect for nature.
if your in alaska subsistence hunting, sure..because if you dont subsistence hunt you'll likely starve before your next shipment of food, can you say you hunt for that level of survival? cuz if not its basically pointless killing, theirs likely a butcher shop for unprepared meat if you want to cook it yourself. subsistence hunting is competely logical, if you hunt to survive then ofc theres nothing wrong with that, but if you live in a town and can go get prepared meat or go to a butcher shop and get uncooked meat and prepare it yourself, whats the point of killing it yourself again? other then as you say "Superiority" or to save a Buck, both bad reasons to hunt imo.
Outlaws that guy is just an idiot who thinks it's wrong to shoot a trophy animal an also enjoy their meat I guess, sounds like he is a little screwed up in the head if you ask me
In my case, I live surrounded by thick forests, and within a 30-40 mile radius of several towns, all of which don't have a butcher's shop that sells fresh, clean meat (which is baffling, given I live in rural Kentucky). Only supermarkets with packaged, processed meat- shit you'd be better off staying far away from. Sure, I don't HAVE to hunt to survive, but in doing so, I get to eat meat I know came from an animal that lived free and healthy, sans any sort of mistreatment, confinement, or contamination. Why wouldn't I choose to hunt? And besides, who do you think supplies those butchers with meat? A genie? If you're buying meat that came from an animal that someone else hunted or raised, the ONLY difference is how you obtained it: going to the store and buying it, or going out into the wild to find it. Something still died to feed your hungry self, and as long as people still need to eat to live, things will continue to die, regardless of whether or not YOU yourself kill them, be it flora or fauna. It's just reality.
This happened to me a couple years back hunting. We stood together for about 10 minutes before I casually shot the deer in the heart. It still has a "what the fuck?" look on his face mounted on my wall.
Might have been beginning stages of disease. I went cross country through brush in south Texas and walked right up to a jackrabbit sitting in the open. I was wearing sunglasses. Not sure if it made a difference.
That deer was blind or had really really bad eye sight. When a deer looks at you it will move its head around to look at you from different views including the side or what we call peripheral. The only reason it looked straight at the guy was to try and pick him out with his ears but it was clearly windy.
Gene Wensel was still hunting, I think it was, and got right up to a deer, and then made the choice of grabbing the base of the beam. Nothing bad happened, but the deer pulled his antler away, and Wensel said he had no idea how much power, and ease as there. On the one hand, you know his neck is huge, but they are also delicately proportioned animals, that don't always weight that much more than humans...
Player One definitely something wrong with that deer, unless it is someone’s pet healthy whitetail deer have a healthy fear of humans, something is very wrong with it or it’s someone’s hand raised and released pet..
I call shenanigans. For one, this looks like Texas... where they have giant fenced in properties where you pay to hunt and they feed them constantly for big antlers. Either that deer was partly tame or sick.
It obviously wasn't a ranch deer it was only like 140 class. It was a big deer for most places but those ranches where to pay to play hunting breed specifically for big deer whenever they can and feed and do food plots 4 large antler nutrition
Aaron96235 not blind , why would the buck deliberately avoid a cactus while running away ? If he was blind he would have gone straight into the cactus. Please use a higher form of thinking when trying to process information.
Its almost like its blind. Every time you made a noise it looked in our direction. It did run away when you moved when it was right by you. It just didn't seem like it could see you.
+Nick Thomas deer don't really be out in the bright they hangout in shaded areas then come out at sun down. then they roam at night ... deer in headlights lol
the deer is nearly blind, if not completely. it's an old buck...his eyes didn't look right and he didn't scent like a normal whitetail (barely extended his tongue)
All of yall BEFORE YOU COMMENT please read this please quit saying crap about this poor buck.. it may have been around people.. and he probably was just tired.. i think he’s beautiful!
It almost seems like he's blind? But ya what he said defiantly did not seem very aware of what was going on! That's so crazy and heart pounding adrenaline!!!
I've personally seen a sick deer act just like this. Infection from not shedding antlers was what I was told by a state biologist that did a post mortem. Or maybe infection kept antlers from shedding. Can't remember anymore. Deer acted just like this.
guys the deer wasn't blind. if it was blind it wouldn't get up. and that is a young buck you can tell by the colour of its fur and the arch of its back
Deer, "🤔hey bro how's it going? What brings you out to the grass today?". Guy, ~smudges deer's antler~. Deer, "umm pretty rude but ok". Guy, ~smudges deer's antler again~. Deer, "GOOD DAY SIR!".

if your in alaska subsistence hunting, sure..because if you dont subsistence hunt you'll likely starve before your next shipment of food, can you say you hunt for that level of survival? cuz if not its basically pointless killing, theirs likely a butcher shop for unprepared meat if you want to cook it yourself. subsistence hunting is competely logical, if you hunt to survive then ofc theres nothing wrong with that, but if you live in a town and can go get prepared meat or go to a butcher shop and get uncooked meat and prepare it yourself, whats the point of killing it yourself again? other then as you say "Superiority" or to save a Buck, both bad reasons to hunt imo.
Yea come on don't kill animals that's just wrong. Just go buy meat so no animals have to die lol
"Just go buy meat so no animals have to die"
LOL really, man? what do you think meat is?
Deer have a sense of smell 10,000 times stronger than that of a human. Even if the deer was blind, I can assure you that he knew what was upon him.
This happened to me a couple years back hunting. We stood together for about 10 minutes before I casually shot the deer in the heart. It still has a "what the fuck?" look on his face mounted on my wall.
lol
ficus
Justin Erra was it high fenced?
Justin Erra dude those kinds of deer should be left alone. no telling why they act like that
Mental problems for sure or just at one with nature. Who knows.
That deer was sleepwalking 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣
Dude when he ran off he skared the shit out of me
SubaruFanatic same happended to me it scared me to death
So glad im not the only one!
Wow... great footage! What a magnificent creature 🙏
I almost jump of my seat wen the dear run away
wessel bolt same
me too
Ikr I was more scared than the fuckin deer
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The deer looks back and is like "I thought we were friends"
My dads friend had the same thing with a 6 point crazy and it happened during the big flood in Louisiana
Man’s neck is thicker than the bucks
that deer looked and acted like it was blind...or in shock....or maybe he ate some psychedelic mushrooms...it wasn't acting "normal" that is for sure
That bucko didn't sleep that night and later wrote a thread on reddit about his extraterrestrial experience
That's awesome footage!!!
Might have been beginning stages of disease. I went cross country through brush in south Texas and walked right up to a jackrabbit sitting in the open. I was wearing sunglasses. Not sure if it made a difference.
Did you see that weed in his hoof?
This deer wasn't blinded, not by the way he took off knowing where he was.
he must have eaten some wine grapes lel
That deer was blind or had really really bad eye sight. When a deer looks at you it will move its head around to look at you from different views including the side or what we call peripheral. The only reason it looked straight at the guy was to try and pick him out with his ears but it was clearly windy.
deer is as blind as democratic voters
Lolololol funny and true at the same time
Jay Bee bahahaha hell yes hell yes
***** sorry democrat
***** didnt mean it as one..i shouldve put a comma.
Jay Bee amen to that
Weird, you took the words right out of my head with sleepwalking. That was exactly what I wasthinking.
do you think that maybe he was blind or close to it
He looks sick to me. Something with his eyes don't look right.
Why do you think he was bedding XD
the buck thought you were the pizza delivery dude
he should have never touched his antlers like that because that deer could have stuck his antlers into him like a bull
kid snipa or have a video of the deer rearing up and clopping the shit out of him like some hood fight
Thanks mom
@@terrytummons8898 honestly I dont remember this 4 yrs ago🤣🤣🤣🤣
That is some weird stuff right there... Musta been high..?? LOL Amazing footage..!!
He's blind.
Or close to it.
Old Dog no
Great footage. Buck was very blind though. No flinch at all when he was being touched.
Deer down south are pretty small body wise...
Awesome footage tho!
Harryson Xiong depends own were your at i live in Georgia we got some big bucks and does, between Waynesboro and McDuffie County.
What an awesome pet deer
Awesome footage.... even if it is a baited or "deer farm fed" deer. I frankly wonder if that one is old and going blind.
Chronic wasting disease.
lol
nick dick Definitely. It's a shame that such a nice buck has to die that way.
What makes you think so? I haven't heard of any confirmed cases in S.Texas and he looked a lot healthier then the CWD deer vids I've seen.
He was blind. he couldn't see you because u had camo on plus he might have thought u were a doe
+Aaron96235 you sir are correct!
Aaron96235 not blind , why would the buck deliberately avoid a cactus while running away ? If he was blind he would have gone straight into the cactus. Please use a higher form of thinking when trying to process information.
Aaron96235 then tell us "Smart one" what's wrong with that buck psh why am I even asking you. U don't No Shit
+Aaron96235 dude dont explain to these city boys that think they know everything. lol
the fucking thing was dazed. and don't give me any of that "well then smart one" because i have my hunting and firearm license here right now
Its almost like its blind. Every time you made a noise it looked in our direction. It did run away when you moved when it was right by you. It just didn't seem like it could see you.
CWD deer... Sponge brain.
The buck was thinking on how the hell is Trump running for president........Then he woke up !!!!!
CWD.
SgtHulkasBigToe I don't think so. He wasn't showing the symptoms of CWD. His body weight looked normal and overall he looked healthy.
fed by humans
could be blind, but seems too healthy and didnt jump at your touch
Moonman km
SgtHulkas
Deer have the life. He woke up from his nap and went on about his business. Majestic animals
hand fed and sick see his eyes
That's the conclusion I thought of too. I clicked the video to see the nice deer but his eyes are kind of creeping me out.
Really bright out for him to be awake. Texas can be so bright it's blinding.
MrMudNugget are you trying to say deer can't be awake during the day?
Lol if what i'm seeing is correct no im not saying that. But seriously its incredibly bright out there...you know outside.
+Nick Thomas deer don't really be out in the bright they hangout in shaded areas then come out at sun down. then they roam at night ... deer in headlights lol
Either that deer blind or its the calmest 1 I've seen but he chilling like a dude in a hot tub alone
That deer was sick.
That deer got into a marijuana field or something! Look at how dazed he looks.
the deer is nearly blind, if not completely. it's an old buck...his eyes didn't look right and he didn't scent like a normal whitetail (barely extended his tongue)
All of yall BEFORE YOU COMMENT please read this
please quit saying crap about this poor buck.. it may have been around people.. and he probably was just tired.. i think he’s beautiful!
It almost seems like he's blind? But ya what he said defiantly did not seem very aware of what was going on! That's so crazy and heart pounding adrenaline!!!
The deer was like "well-well...what have we got here....a human without a rifle.....lets see how brave he is now......."
Are white tails known to eat psychedelic mushrooms? I've read a few things before about reindeer taking a liking to them.
This deer HAD to have CWD! ( chronic wasting disease ) In my area it has been a problem. You should check if it’s in your area.
I've personally seen a sick deer act just like this. Infection from not shedding antlers was what I was told by a state biologist that did a post mortem. Or maybe infection kept antlers from shedding. Can't remember anymore. Deer acted just like this.
OK.....@ 4:09 I think I jumped more than the deer did.. HAHAHAHA
WOW that was cool...
LOL. I think you are right. He seemed to be sort of out of it at first but then WOKE UP when you started touching him.
guys the deer wasn't blind. if it was blind it wouldn't get up. and that is a young buck you can tell by the colour of its fur and the arch of its back
that buck looked to be about 7 years old or so, also maybe lost his sense of smell and some sight issues... Gary
Deer, "🤔hey bro how's it going? What brings you out to the grass today?". Guy, ~smudges deer's antler~. Deer, "umm pretty rude but ok". Guy, ~smudges deer's antler again~. Deer, "GOOD DAY SIR!".
That deer was corkys cousin from life goes on show
That buck had found yalls Marijuana patch! You should've offered him a chocolate cookie!
