Reading some of the comments, why are some people getting so offended by this guy and what he's doing haha. He's actually one of the most chill laid back guys they've ever had on this channel.
I've done it many times and it works great. My favorite way to make extra juicy whole bbq chicken. Closest thing to rotisserie without a rotisserie. Also to comment at 4:20 , the bottom of the beer can is in direct heat therefore the beer isn't overprotected by the chicken and it does evaporate. The alcohol evaporates as well softening the meat as it cooks.
how this dish was invented: dude: hey, bro, I bet this beer can would totally fit in that chickens ass bro: Dude, no way! Dude: seriously bro, watch this [dude proceeds to stuff a beer can in a chickens ass] bro: Dude! you were right, I bet that would taste sweet if you coked it up like that, stick it on the BBQ dude: that's why I love you bro, that's why I love you, high five! [they high five over the BBQ and a legend is born]
At this time, its time to have 1 of the 5 beers you have left. So, every 15 mins is about a beer or so. That's how I'm picking up what you're putting down. Good advice, my timer works better that way. Good, easy, simple directions. Thanks for sharing!👍🏻
I work for a can company and yes most fillers do not make there own cans!!! The fire has to be more than three fifty degrees before the varnish ( clear coat) not the paint comes off and yes the varnish is water based
All the ways I know to do this include using a half full beer and then adding some spices, hot sauce, garlic, whatever to the beer inside for extra flavoring in the steaming aspect. Trust me, it adds.
have been doing this for years. I cut the top off of the can, drain half into my mouth and heat the rest in the microwave (not in the can jack ass) so it's almost boiling and return to can. helps the steam
You dont have to use beer, Ive used flavored mineral water in can (because it was cheaper than beer) and it worked just as well. The key is the liquid, he alcohol in the beer does not make much difference in the cooking.
Great recipe. I am of the opinion that the beer should be room temperature. Some other recommendations I use to make mine always come out fantastic: - cut off the top or open up the beer can and add thyme, rosemary, garlic cloves, and some of the rub to help flavor - buy a beer throne. they are $10 or less at any place that sells bbq/grill equipment - add baking powder to your run to keep the skin crispy
tends to help if you put the seasoning (salt, pepper, spices etc) on the inside too as when it heats the heat will sweat it into the flesh. great stuff man!
Great job. I do it in the oven at 350 F for 90 minutes. Try half lemon and a couple of garlic cloves the beer. And DO NOT use a 16 oz. can, the bird falls over like drunk.
Want to know why there is a debate whether this works or not? There's a reason he didn't notice a difference on beer used. No way the beer boils. As you cook, both the meat, which is 70% water, and the beer, which is 90% water, heat at about the same rate. When you are done cooking, when the meat hits 165°F, the beer will also be about 165°F, well below the boiling point of water which is 212°F. Now some of the beer at the bottom of the can may be hotter, but the cooler beer above will mix with it via convection, so there is no way it will come close to the boiling point. There is still some evaporation from the beer at that low temp, but very very little. So, hardly any moisture escapes the can. So how can it moisturize the meat ? And anyone who says it crisps the skin, which is separated from the can by at least 1" of meat really has been smoking more than chicken. All beer can chicken is, is rotisserie chicken. Standing the chicken lets it cook evenly. You'd get the same result without the beer.
I have tried this method ang while its true that yoe don't notice any difference in beer used, you do notice a difference between beer used or not, if you use beer, or water is possible too the chicken comrs out much better, even when f you overcook it, and just so you know, you dont need to boil water for it to evaporate
+Eksy Graff You are somewhat right but its more of a regional thing. They do eat tacos in Mexico City for example, other regions do have more legitimate dishes.
Eksy Graff Motormouthmachine not true. Tacos only originated in Mexico City but they are eaten all around mexico. Im mexican and have family in northern mexico & central mexico & tacos are eaten regularly in both places, i also went to cancun 2 years ago & tacos are eaten there too. Tacos are all around mexico.
+funders666 The subject has nothing to do with where tacos are eaten, he said they originated in the USA and I mentioned Mexico City. Yes Mexicans eat tacos but tacos do not reflect their main diet, the food is diverse with many different dishes and cooking styles.
You can even pre brine ,then give super heavy coating of your favorite rub and smoke hard and slow comes out fantastic you can even tack on some of your fav bbq sauce in the last 30 for a sticky little bite😮
I Used to love beer can chicken, but last time my family tried this like 6 people got aluminum poising. specially this can of Budweiser in the video look how much ink is on the can.
Allison Campbell nah man hes like nearly 50? aww he is so cute..hes made a living for himself just by being himself?? like fuck you for hating on someone whos just making the most of himself...hes definitly got a more sensitive side..like dont take him too seriously,he doesnt take himself seriously..your wrong allison hes a great guy perhaps hes a bit mis understood

Putthatinur Pipe Yeah, I would go with a stainless steel gizmo if I where to do this for more than once or twice... (you should put a lable at the start of the video to let people know, it's easy enough and wont hust anyone...)
+SlowSlowSloth Manufacturer didn't intend for it to reach high temperatures, american manufacturers still use Bisphenol A (BPA) in their coatings, at high temperatures it releases easily and will soak into the chicken. It is highly carcinogenic and toxic.
+bovaiveu then just buy cans with labels you can peel or wrap the can in something like foil to prevent direct contact with the chicken if you're particularly concerned
+Kevin nguyen yes, but pee wee herman said that smoking crack even once could kill you. it doesnt seem like that has stopped anyone. Same goes with beer can chicken.

HCH Media Yes, that paint is probably extremely dangerous, especially since millions of people put their lip against the paint and holds the cans all over the world. This might be the new epidemic, run everybody.
remember to always use budweiser as it is 99% water and can steam better
99% water, 1% piss
studweiser is a dual purpose beverage
73% water is in humans, not 96. We are not cucumbers
Extreme Ice Cream sometimes I wonder if some people are cucumbers.

Pro tip: Add a couple garlic cloves to your 1/2 can of beer when cooking. Adds some good flavor.
Yep! I dump out the beer, fill it halfway with water or broth and aromatics.
Works great, especially with energy drink cans as they're a bit larger
"beer in there, cant hurt right? more beer"
lol it sounds like the guy just came up with this minues before making the video
I bet that loose ass chicken was still like "It's my first time."

“At this point….we chill”. That BBQ dude
I love it how he explained the origins lol XD, I'm sure it was just some guy drinking some beer with chicken around
Love cooking chicken this way!
Donal fucking Skehan hanging out on a Munchies video. Now I've seen everything.
Donal Skehan How do you feel about the paint in the can? Is it more or less flavour for your chicken?
Yeah it's a great way to do your chicken, but I use bottle instead of can. Just remember to clean your bottle from all the labels ;)
Donal Skehan PUT THE KID ON THE GRILL NEXT!
Donal I'm going to fart in your milk
He sounds like a tougher Ed Norton

Loved the music, your personality, and how it was filmed/edited. Well done, thanks man!
"I don't know if that does anything... I think it does"
Aaaaaand, you won me over.

Drunk chickens are the best and this guy is the coolest
have been doing this for years. I cut the top off of the can, drain half into my mouth and heat the rest in the microwave (not in the can jack ass) so it's almost boiling and return to can. helps the steam
I’d rather put the half from the can into the microwave than the half in the mouth. You could burn your tongue really badly., you know.
This guy is super chill. Couldn't stop laughing!
Right
Had this sort of chicken in Thailand but they have loads of spices stuff inside chicken while it roast. Nice!!
Bro, I followed your directions from your video to a T. You are my hero! My beer can chicken was absolutely delicious!
You dont have to use beer, Ive used flavored mineral water in can (because it was cheaper than beer) and it worked just as well. The key is the liquid, he alcohol in the beer does not make much difference in the cooking.

"beer-butt chicken" is how i've heard it called in the south
Love the straight forward commentary! Don't sugar coat it...darn right I'll drink the remaining beers! LOL Good video...very close to how I do mine.
tends to help if you put the seasoning (salt, pepper, spices etc) on the inside too as when it heats the heat will sweat it into the flesh.
great stuff man!
I tried this and i have to say it was the best chicken i have ever tasted in my life!
I usually put a stick of butter, jalapeno, lemon, and garlic in the can....along with the half full beer.
"Instagram and shi+" lol
white heaven is filled with beer can chicken and watermelon chobani
Watermelon and coolaid are for prisoninmates. I am quiet sure, there are some other stereotypical foods for white people.
Sounds like a song
This dude seems chill af. Wish he was my neighbor 👍🏼
3:34 "at this point... we chill (CHILL FACE)"
Great job. I do it in the oven at 350 F for 90 minutes.
Try half lemon and a couple of garlic cloves the beer.
And DO NOT use a 16 oz. can, the bird falls over like drunk.
its like what goes on at shaq's house every night
This blokes commentary is second to none haha 😂 👌
This is pretty bro of you munchies, more of the bro stuff please!!!
I just made a wonderful dinner for my wife & I because of your video thank you so much...
This guys energy level is a whole mood. #imchillin
We live in a glorious age, what a time to be alive.
This video was oddly satisfying. Why.
Marry me and I'll satisfy you in many awkward ways bby
:O
Made me hungry
Not quite sure why, but the dry rub and the beer can reminds me of the last time I visited a massage parlour in Bangkok.

I empty the beer and add water and garlic cloves in the can. A bit lessthan halfway. The steam is much more intense and aromatic
If it's Bud that would be the same
dad finalform
The best beer can cooking chicken I've ever seen you're awesome.
Mexico has tacos, Canada has maple syrup, & the US has beer can chicken.
Mexico has parties, Canada has intimate sex, and the US goes solo with a chicken.
tacos originatedx in america. they rarely have tacos

He said. "Generously rub this guy" lmfao 😂 😂
this is why i like munchies, its nice, easy and andy milonakis of course
boo urns andy milonakis is cancer
if hes cancer then your a stupid snob with no sense of humor..
boo urns No, he truly is the most childish and obnoxious celebrity I've seen in ages. I also realize he's in his 30s.

I'm calling the cops. He's sexually abusing that chicken.
Dave That chicken was asking for it... look how it was dressed!
Dave People who drink Budweiser (not beer) do that sort of thing when family aren't around.
Dave edit your comment to "chick" pls xD way funnier
Um.. It's dead. No need to.
+Dave
"I like a nice healthy dry rub"
"generously dry rub this guy"
"I like to get inside a little bit"
Idk if it wud made a differance but i wud put garlic rosmarin and some other stuff in the beer can to intense the flavor
Remember me and my dad used to do this, but there was no chicken or barbeque, he’d just drink and beat me
we do it sometimes with some orange juice in the beer , its awesome
I remember my dad making this but he would put wine in an empty beer can, he wouldn't use the beer
That sounds really good
man that aluminimum melting and toxic plastic pain coating really spices up the taste
Melting point of aluminium is 660C mate
I'm not an expert but there's an awful lot of paint on that can, wouldn't the heat make it a toxic fume?
black people do it so its okay
+Darth Vader lmao
they use a bottle
+MF RICK lmao MF RICK that is wild never thought of doom and Rick at the same time
+Hxllz Cxrtxz It's quite the combo.
Seen this video multiple times over my life. Im finally gonna try it rn 10/27
where have i seen this before ..... oh yeah (one man one jar :o)
SkATAN oh nk
Best piece of advice on here: get a 6 pack to enjoy the other 5 beers. Good excuse to slam some buds on the weekend before chowin down on some chicken
Nice! But what about the chems on that label leaching on to the meat?
+BIll Georgoulakis Yeah, this isn't really that healthy. You can even buy a container made for this purpose for a little more than the cost of a beer
Putthatinur Pipe Yeah, I would go with a stainless steel gizmo if I where to do this for more than once or twice... (you should put a lable at the start of the video to let people know, it's easy enough and wont hust anyone...)
+BIll Georgoulakis why not just put tin foil around the can?
there's no chemicals. its "etched" into the can. you would need a grinder to get it off
Don't be such a woos. Just don't use cans coated on the inside.
Looks delicious, but what about the thin aluminum and paint on the can? Are they approved for these temps?
......and the paint on the outside of the can which is full of chemicals is getting cooked into the chicken. Smart one real genius.
God I love how this guy talks, so chill!
what about the plastic coating on the cans? and the inks??
The paint is etched into the aluminium chemically, and it will take a lot more than 180F to get it out.
@sikkunt
Lol
Hey that dude was my college roommate forever ago! Glad to see you're doing well J!
Did he say "spatchuler" ??
Been baking this for year's love it❤❤
His humour is almost as dry as that chicken without the beer
That guy has 100% chill.
so were going to roast an aluminum beer can inside of a chicken. weeeee. alzheimers here we come.
you don't eat the can...
How does that still not prevent him from gaining Heavy Metal Poisoning from consuming large doses of melted almanium that is in the chicken
Username Because he doesn't eat the can and because the melting point of aluminium cannot be achieved over low and indirect heat from a coal barbecue.
Username hes correct its alittle risky but you need a very high heat not achievable by coals to melt and evaporate the aluminm
I mean you've used aluminum foil right??
Man that grill was CLEAN!! I have ashes left from last year in mine adds flavor
Did he say “”Check the chicken” or “Choke the chicken”
Don't you worry about the chemicals transferred to the chicken from the can's paintwork?
gabox01 It's not like they melt away, and if they did, they're not toxic. People drink from them.
Clement Moraschi The cans are lined on the inside as well, rather not risk evaporation transfer. I'd still advice against it.
"more beer, it cant hurt"
no sir it cant, beer is the liquid of gods, the more beer the better!
Oh mawng, tasty aluminium.
That was fun to watch. Good job 👍💯
I really like the plastic flavor inside, thanks.
yea this is the cooking equivalent to smoking weed out of a pop can
this guys my hero
Doesn't an aluminum (can) produce a toxic substance when heated to high temperatures?
with direct flame yes
+Kevin nguyen yes, but pee wee herman said that smoking crack even once could kill you. it doesnt seem like that has stopped anyone. Same goes with beer can chicken.
180F is not "high temperatures"
Can you tell me how you like the bag of Royal Oak charcoal in the back round that you are using? Im actually the guy who makes the charcoal in that bag. I run the machine that makes the charcoal . Would love o hear back from you on the charcoal .
When girls says, "It's my first time, be gentle."
Nice like the originality bro thanks for keeping it real good vibes from San Francisco California 🤙🍻
is there an alternative as to the beer can? i dont want lead paint heated on my chicken
LiqCharles If you google beer can chicken cooker there are a ton of oven and grill devices you can use as a substitute. I bought one ages ago and love it.
alas i dont live in the united states. would have to look for other homemade contraptions. thanks tho
LiqCharles you think beer cans have lead paint? we are not in china lead paint is illegal in the united states
LiqCharles use a beer bottle it fits better aswell.
LiqCharles They don't use lead paint. That would be illegal.
the circle of life is beautiful
the paint on the can is extremely unhealthy especially with heat
HCH Media Yes, that paint is probably extremely dangerous, especially since millions of people put their lip against the paint and holds the cans all over the world. This might be the new epidemic, run everybody.
Doggepp Burnt (very hot) cans are known to cause psychosis and intoxication leading to death before puberty. Shut your fucking mouth doggie
Jesse Pinkman thanks thats better for all of us ..... stop with the smart ass shit and google it you idiots
Jesse Pinkman If you really want a nice thick glossy coat I recommend glazing the chicken with old motor-oil for that real badass taste
Doggepp fuck that. I'm using plutonium to get the chicken glow at dark for maximun coolness.
I really liked his manner. He should do more on Munchies
Epic Meal Time did it better :p
