I was one of the crew members on set when the fireball went off. We were on the other side of the studio, more than 50 feet away, from the blast. I've been on set for numerous "explosions" and fires. This one was different and wrong. We could feel the heat and concussive blast of the charge. When "cut" and "clear" were called one of the stunt people screamed medic and the crew ran to set. I poured water onto and then cut off burning/melted costumes and wigs. One stunt performer was in the hospital for several days with second degree burns and possible concussion. Another wound up with impact injuries that could have been worse if he was not choreographed to jump with the blast. He returned to set that same day as did the other two stunts that had minor injuries.
When I saw it I was thinking there must have been more than that one tank exploding that did that much damage, either that or it was one huge water heater
@@Sam53148 hey man sometime the director like to go with the real thing if you know what I mean I mean why get lousy stuntman will you do the real thing with the actors and if they get hurt well who gives a s*** actors are a diamond doesn't lining up at the casting office at the office by the books
That was really a supurb 15 minute mini episode. I remember being mid-year of my first year teaching highschooł and not watching but I ałso remember thinking the show had gotten bad again. I, of cours, think very csrefulły before I płay critic to a school. I wilł, however, praise the pace of the show and its cast. The hospital scene, Toe tags? Thatʼd funny. Then again, when one considers that B&Bʼs Macy died, I seem to recall, die by way of falling chandalier, the joke is 1. even funnier and 2. exactly the right amount of humor and quirk for a very heavy episode. And duh, crystal chandler, crystal chandalier…why am I just now putting that together? All the same, kudos to AMC. Watcing this episode with fresh eyes is like coming home..a feeling a get every time I tune in.
I miss All My Children. Explosions, tornadoes, no other show in daytime produced disaster episodes as good as them. Janet from another Planet was excellent in this too.
Does anyone know at 9:45 in the background is that Aidan with his arm around Brooke and giving her a kiss on the forehead? I thought maybe it was Jamie, but I don't think he had been found yet? Aidan is just really random.
Wow, was that hammy. This was why I stopped watching AMC long before this, actually. When the secret room at Llanview on One Life To LIve exploded during a party, we people running, a display vase tipped over, more people running, some hokey little chandelier fixture fall. It was cliched even then to show the falling chandelier and vase tip over. And why oh why did Walt Willey call out to Reggie like he saw him at a football game? Long time ago, on the soap Search For Tomorrow, a building was on fire. The firemen broke the door down to get someone out, and the show's heroes, in no fire jacket or helmets, moved ahead of the firemen to enter the burning room. Soaps have always been so cornball over things like this.
I remember this bullshit. It was just another like the tornado storyline in 1994, but that was better put together, but it got lame when soaps all started doing these fancy parties turn disaster. This all started in the 80’s.
@2up3rm4n1 Yet you are here rewatching it. And you admitted to watching a second soap in your comments. So stop lying because you are just embarassing yourself. Troll.
Miss David Canary and James Mitchell. Two Greats Rest in Peace.
Yes🥰
I remember when four stunt people got injured on the set of All My Children during this episode.

Wow, that's scary

I would say that General Hospital was way better at disasters.
Seeing Jackson fly like that was catalytic
Lawd Opal's HAIR!!! lol
What everybody doesn't know is that both of the stories are coming back on with different names I already what all my children name Pine Valley.
Sorry but it’s not happening! This is 2023 talking
Wasted years refeeeming Janet only to make her probably amcs top villain ever
So cheesy, but so fun! I miss this!
Yes, but I only kept the scenes above the rumble.
I only kept the material of the people above the rumble
Wasn't Dixie hiding somewhere in this explosion?
I believe so
Does anyone notice tad be the first person to say omg
What I have up there is what I've got.
Was the whisper repeated in a story? Or was there some kind of coverage BTS? I know they had a fire on set.

Where's Erica?
No Zach and Kendall ?
Good!
What song is this and who sings it?
Sophie Michalitsianos (aka Sol Seppy) singing How High The Moon
Ray Charles tears it up!
Incorrect this was composed specifically for the show (taking an old tune and reworking it) and was not sung by sol seppy

Oh the action sweep storylines of ABC soaps...hence why Y&R is still on the air
Young and the Restless was modeled after AMC!
Did we really need that song ?
YES!
