    This is my fav Serena GS win..you could just see the determination up or down, she wasn’t going to lose & if she did she was giving everything before she walked off that court! Still inspired by this, she was on a mission you could see it.

    When I think about this match, I always look back on the fact that Serena had to LITERALLY win it twice due to a bad "in" call on MP.

      Vaidisova hit a big ball much like Mary Pierce but she didn’t hit as big or cleanly as Sharapova. There is a reason Sharapova was known to be the hardest hitter on tour along with the Williams.
      Davenport even said Sharapova was so hard to play because she hits an extremely heavy ball not just hard. Halep also said playing Sharapova would hurt her back because her balls were so heavy and flat she had to stay lower to the ground with her ball than any other players.

    The way players back then were more focused on themself, more intense rivalry, the fire & hypes were better.
    Compare to WTA players nowadays so boring, no superstar, many overhyped one hit wonders, players are being too friendly to one another during the match, honestly cringe..

    I always wanted to see a match between Nicole Vaidisova and Maria Sharapova and I would bet you that Nicole would win that match. I love Sharapova but Vaidisova had a rich variety of play. By the way, I liked how the Czech woman didn't give much importance to Serena Williams' handshake, that's how it has to be, period!

    Weak era queen 🤣🤣🤣

    • @jobuck879
      @jobuck879 11 месяцев назад +13

      You sound so foolish. Everyone knows the weakest era was Grafs era. The current era is a close second for the weakest era. Serena faced more competition than any other era and yet she still won 23GS. Thats a sign of pure greatness.

    • @akizaizinskii
      @akizaizinskii 11 месяцев назад

      @@jobuck879 Graf played 13 Grand Slam finals against top 10 all time greats (Evert, Navratilova and Seles). Serena never faced a top 10 all time great in her career.
      Also, take a look at the names Serena faced in Slam finals and semis in 2007-2017, a period in which she won 16 of her 23 Slams - Vaidisova, Zheng, Jankovic, Safina, Zvonareva, Dementieva, Stosur, Wozniacki, Errani, Makarova, Safarova, Keys, Bacsinszky, Muguruza, Vinci, Radwanska, Bertens, Vesnina, Lucic Baroni, Goerges, Sevastova, Strycova, Svitolina and others.
      Real strong era indeed.

      @@akizaizinskii Look at those “top 10” of all time…they played weak players compared to Serena. Do you know how pathetic you sound? But let’s check your comment…who has faced more competition than Serena? Name more than 10 ladies who consistently challenged Serena AND name more than 5 who had a very close head to head competition against Serena….dont worry you can’t. I mean Graf won a GS final in under 30 minutes…that’s how weak her opposition was. She played Evert and Navratilova while they were past their prime so your claim needs a little perspective. Seles wax the only person who challenged Graf and we all know had it not been for the crazy Graf fan (much like you) Seles would have ended Grafs streak quite easily. Serena faced Venus, Hingis, Davenport, Henin, Clijsters, Capriati, and so many others. The depth of players for Serena was much greater than Graf. That my dear delusional Graf fan should be mentioned before you decide to think foolish thoughts. Other than Seles…name a player who was at the same level as Graf that actually challenged Graf?? Go on…

    • @jobuck879
      @jobuck879 11 месяцев назад +9

      @@akizaizinskii Grafs era was indeed the weakest of all. She played in an era where she won a GS in less than 30 minutes…how much more weaker can you get. Name 10 ladies who consistently challenged Graf and who put up a more than a decent head to head fight against her. You can’t. Graf had a stellar head ti head against almost every opponent except Seles. Serena had a greater depth of field than Graf. That is a well documented fact. Thats why Serena is greatly known as the GOAT. I know you’re a delusional Graf fan but facts and numbers don’t lie. Serena had bigger challengers and more competition than Graf. Graf wouldn’t have been able to win 5 GS in Serena’s era. But in Grafs era Serena would have put up even more impressive numbers.

    • @akizaizinskii
      @akizaizinskii 11 месяцев назад

      @@jobuck879 Wrong lol. First of all, Steffi played against Evert, Navratilova, Seles, Sánchez Vicario, Sabatini, Novotna, Capriati, Hingis, Davenport and others, all of which are hall of famers. Serena had the same competition in her early years on tour and they challenged Serena more than they challenged Steffi.
      2. The numbers are most definitely not in Serena’s favor. Steffi won the Golden Calendar Slam, which is considered the most impressive achievement in the history of the sport. She has way more weeks at #1 than Serena, way more YE #1s, way more titles (despite playing 11 years less than Serena), higher win % and a higher peak than Serena. She was both more dominant and more consistent than Serena and Serena never achieved the level Steffi did. Numbers wise Serena doesn’t come close to Steffi or to Navratilova, Evert or Court for that matter.
      3. Serena is not “widely” considered the GOAT. If you actually take a look at sizable GOAT polls, they’re pretty even with Serena leading in the USA (for obvious reasons) and Steffi leading pretty much everywhere else.
      You claim Steffi played in a weak era yet she faced the same competition in the second half of her career as Serena did in the first half. Meanwhile Serena won 17 of her 23 Slams playing in an era where ZERO players won more than 2 Slams (2007-2017).
