This and her AO both hurt. I feel like she didn’t get a proper goodbye at both of these slams. I think she could’ve both of them too. It’s so awesome to have seen her play those last few years. Her game and determination is just so magical.

The AO she really should have won. Naomi came out a mess in that semi and Serena started pretty well. Then the nerves kicked in.

@@mrrogers302 THANK YOU! Serena started that match 3-0. She was making a lot of weird mistakes and her mental was low. 2019 US Open is most devastating to me tho. She should’ve had the black catsuit on, she would’ve won that match.

@@mrrogers302 , Naomi didn't even play well. Serena stopped taking tiny steps, kept missing shots, and THEN Naomi took control. But even in the second set, Serena had CHANCES. People act like Naomi "outplayed" Serena. Yes, she has in the past, but not THAT match.

It really surprises me that she and her sister played as long as they did. I thought they both would have retired long ago to pursue other interests.
If you recall; way back both were being vilified because of a lack of interest in tennis for a while.

The issue is Serena could’ve gotten past 24. If she prioritised her tennis over work and didn’t travel with her child and husband and simply just focused on tennis and then went home after she’d have won these tournaments 2021 AO, This tournament also and all those 4 finals she lost

Yup 100% agree. She just needed that extra bit of fitness. Her game and hitting was great after pregnancy. She would've won 4-5 slams easily if she was just 5-8 pounds lighter with better cardiovascular endurance.

@@sohappytogether353 , I think the other reason Billie was mad is because Court, who is a homophobic bigot, still holds the record for ALL-TIME.

I know i have no right to dictate how someone should handle his or her private life, but there are times i wish Serena rather got pregnant in December 2017 or January 2018. Looking at how well she played at Australia, i believe she could have won 2 more slams that year

No way. She was better in 2018 and 2019 and still couldn't win. Many of the younger players were better than her on clay by the mid 2010s. Muguruza really beat her comprehensively in 2016 here. It was one of the best matches she has played.

@@NotSettlingForSecondBest i watched all those finals, she wasn’t there mentally. I wish she could’ve figured that out sooner before leaving. Especially the 2019 US Open final. Her physical was there. The way she walked out on the court so low energy, that made me start to get nervous. I think she had game up to 2021 RG.

I don’t think we will ever see a player as mentally tough as Serena… no doubt it is her best asset…. How many matches was she down and out and just willed herself to be elite, to rise. I get the sense even when Serena lost it shocked her because she genuinely not once thought she was going to lose.. the fight and the will to win is something I miss seeing on tour :’(
