Am just now understanding the brilliance of the sexual attraction/tension between Despina and Don Alfonso, something not in the original libretto. The perfect irony and demonstration that Alfonso lives by his credo. Accept your lover as she is and don't be blind to their essential treacherous nature. Three couples in the finale - two, who don't yet understand the message look ill at ease and disillusioned in their relationships. But the wise and realistic (cynical) Alfonso accepts the scheming Despina with a loving embrace and kiss. They played their roles well too - there was palpable passion in the closing scene. Magnificent.
The best cosi I have ever experienced ... wow! I had some doubts about the stately pace of the conducting but does it ever pay dividends in this finale ... insanely powerful.

In the Italian libretto the fake lovers come from 'Albania' (=Hadriatic Coastal Balkans, more or less, at the time); in the translarion they came "from elsewhere". Is that the political correct or what?
Many translations (especially for the purpose of subtitles; it's rare in printed books) choose not to translate literally, instead simplify the sentences to get just the main point across. The detail that the lovers come from Albania is arguably unnecessary, so it's often cut. It has nothing to do with political correctness.
