Hi Tom. I damaged the valve gear on my 'Pansy' some years ago. Used to run very well. A club member (nameless!) supposedly repaired it, and showed me the same problem with the crank axle. It never ran as it used to after the 'repair'. Like this video, it will be a complete strip-down to see what the problem is. Thanks. Geoff
@@TomsWorkshop42 Yes indeed. I do remember looking at the Shay engine the first time I saw it, when I took the seized lump out of the paraffin bath. I wondered how on earth to take it apart.

Great diagnosis Tom, not for the faint hearted inside valve gear!
Who’s build one of them… 😬
Excellent, very interesting Tom. Will be interested in the techniques for the new crank axle.
The taking apart an engine you haven't made certainly struck a chord with me after my adventures with the Shay engine.
I sure… been following your exploits with great interest… to be honest, I forget now how the loco I built went together anyway… lol

Interesting stuff, thank you for making the video. GCR Freight livery? :)
That’s the plan..
Cor thats not what you wanna find is it… big job!
No, but I was kind of expecting it…
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I have a project for you if you are interested...
Always interested in a project… what have you got?
