I tend to agree that digital cannot adequately duplicate these tanks. You can get great reverb sounds from a Super Reverb by running the output from the tank into the NORMAL channel of the amp (with appropriate cabling and adapters) by rolling off nearly all the bass and running up most of the treble. Sounds fab!
You forgot another glaring issue of this circuit: as you increase the Mix, you lose volume and treble, i.e. the so called "tone suck". That's because dry and wet are both connected to the same pot. Just the way it is. Separate volume controls for dry and wet would fix the issue. BTW playing surf with a PRS is just dystopian :)
Awesome content! Tube reverbs and reverb units are such a fascinating area. I recently made and uploaded a video featuring my AMT TH-1 pedal (AMT Tube Hall). It might not be all analog or a true unit, but I still love its sound. Combining it with a phaser creates an incredible effect.
some single-button footswitches are made with unshielded cable, good ones have a metal switch housing and a round shielded cable that is properly grounded to the switch housing.
The Boss Fender Reverb pedal is one of the few pedals that have drip. But of course, it has an artificial quality to it. But a decent option for people who don't have the money or space for this puppy chucker.
A single button doorbell style Fender footswitch does work, the ground must be shielded and the footswitch housing needs grounding too. You should really be sure about something like this before you tell the world that it doesn’t work.
Vaild point, but I am sure he only speaks from his experience and you can't expect every youtuber to know everything. That is why whe have comment sections :) Thanks for the correction.
By that point, Accutronics had been bought out by Belton, who moved production overseas...you could always try to track down an older US made tank with the same specs, did that with a blues jr with great results
Surfy Bear Industries makes a couple true spring reverbs based on the G15 circuit which perform comparably, cost less, are more compact and less fragile than the Fender tube reverb. They're viable alternatives to true Fender reverbs, and are favored by many modern surf-rock guitar players.
@Tom Holderness Hi Tom, I got one, in very good condition, works perfect. I want to sell it, but on „Ebay Kleinanzeigen“ (Germany) nobody is interested. I just used it at home for a few recordings and that was it.
Ouch, that sounds like either bad tubes or really dirty (unregulated) power. If you have an amp tech/service, might want to send them the clip for a quick troubleshoot. If it's power, might want to check (or have an electrician) check your home for grounding issues and loops. I've had plenty of equipment that is very sensitive to power fluctuations and I've lived in some places with pretty bad electricity.
Is this your band? The wave from the thanks sounds awesome! Cool the dude is operating it with his foot. I used to do this with a dan electro spring king pedal.
The tubes stay lit and therefore warm. Standby just cuts the signal to the speakers. If you have a pedal tuner, just use that to turn off volume to the speakers.
@@lauraharmon6508 It does indeed keep the tube heaters on and keeps them warm but it disconnects the high voltage HT supply to the plates in the tubes, or anodes. It doesn't disconnect the speaker.
This is as thorough and as honest of a tank review as anyone could hope to see. Bravo.
Nice video, i think everyone in surf music want that thunder sound, it keeps it interesting

Me: quietly puts away BC Rich Warlock 😂
I had an original one back in the
late 60’s early 70’s. Wish I had it now!

I would be grateful for the name of the song please!!! very beautiful!
Unwanted? No, those splashes are what I want!
Those shatter sounds are an intentional intent to use on some songs. Shatter, not thunder @ 4:20

Great tips brother! Good luck with building your channel my friend.
Thanks!!
i had one for about a year- hated what it did to my tone...
Absolutely love your information video!!!!!
I’ve seen the single switch foot switches come wired wrong. Maybe that was the problem with the interference.
How do you suggest to put the effects between reverb and ampli?
It's actually almost required to use true bypass loop pedal with it. 1 - no tone loss when not engaged 2 - you can put it anywhere in your pedal chain
Good tips!
Where can I find one?
Bought mine in 2015 and noticed they put a black Korean reverb tank in it ??? Really Fender ??

Been wanting one for ages, can’t find one anywhere

Art 5 GG can you send a link?

Art 5 GG is this up for sale for countries out of germany?
Art 5 GG i’d happily take it if we can arrange a place of transaction
My old man's got one of the old ones but there's something wrong with it. Definitely need to find a good amp guy around here.
They can be very hard to find. It might be easier to just become your own "good amp guy".
good info. thanks!
Surfy Bear manufactures crap, maybe good for a boat anchor.
What power issues can you get when you have an amp on the same circuit? Currently get this sound. ruclips.net/video/ak-vSKzoP_s/видео.html

You forgot about the volume drop
..sounds like marimba 🤷
Nope. Putting your amp on standby won’t warm up your tubes.
Uh…. What does it do then?
