m998 hmmwv geared hub lock tab inspection

  • I wanted to see what locking tabs I had on my M998. The ones I have are the 2 tab version. The 1st version only had 1 tab and the often failed. When they failed you tend loose your spindle nut and then you loose a wheel.

    Transmission fluid in the hubs? That’s not a thing, it’s the TC and tranny. Unless I’m misunderstood you.

      I think it might have been a misunderstanding. I had pulled them do to transmission fluid getting in the hubs via the vent system. My transfer case cooler cracked and started pumping fluid in the vents. I even had transmission fluid in the air box from the vents. So I drained and clean it and flushed it couple times with some cheap gear oil from Walmart.
