Mikhail Pletnev has such a deft touch....he rings tenderness out of each note.... it's a privilege to hear. (I fell in love all over again.) He plays to teach and dance, to edify and enlighten. We all benefit by his dedication to learning.
I love Tchaikowsky's ballet 'the nutcracker'. especially this part, pas de deux. so romantic and beautiful music. I prefer the piano perfomance to the ochestra. wow the first perfomance of Pletnev!!!! awesome graceful passionate 👏👏👏
I love this..what does it mean?? I think it's the infinite love of everything and everyone..but we can't achieve it ..sooo..there is a beautiful understanding that it cannot be Hope transcends , however,or does it ...the wonder is in the anticipation....but I think the positive prevails a major key!!!
The Nutcracker was arranged for piano by Sergey Taneyev, but in view of the difficulty of this arrangement, Tchaikovsky made a simplified one of his own. This work was carried out at the end of August 1892 [46].
Fabulously brilliant and absolutely lovely pearlescent and virtuosic performance that I enjoyed tremendously that I could listen to you without getting bored all day! This is perfect for this Christmas season Thank you for sharing. What are your scores that you played from for this performance, plesse?
Yes I agree, YT recordings are messy. His rehearsal in Moscow 2019 before the competition was crystal clear though :) Unfortunately it has not been recorded.
@@danielhykl3238 ok, that's great. There are several other old videos on RUclips without mistakes played at super high speed. No video though, only audio
WOW, you are just soooo cool, you noticed mistakes. You are amazing. Yes, as a pianist I too noticed the mistakes but I don't have to let the world know and brag that I noticed. Good grief.
@@Marcel_Audubon I should have written ''Just perfect to the untrained ear''. Still, I prefer this version, which seems so raw, than to the one when he's older. Thank you for your comment, I'll pay close attention and maybe discover the mistakes too.
Pletnev was 21 at this time. He couldn’t have written this long before he performed it here. And he’s playing his own arrangement in the Tchaikovsky competition? The rules allowed for that? Would love to hear more history about this arrangement and how he got to perform it here.

only 21 years old here... man. I did nothing of significance at that age -- even this age. amazing talent.
An absolute masterpiece he created - a complete orchestra captured in full on a piano!
Superb! I don’t know how anyone could complain about authenticity - you’d never believe this wasn’t written for piano
He has such an amazing understanding of orchestral relevance and plays each part as the orchestra would, such amazing awareness bravo!
Probably why he is also an amazing conductor
Actually he arranged the piano version and play by himself ❤!
You are so correct!

Fabuleux musicien . Merci d'exister
Finally, we have a chance to watch pletnev playing these nice pieces himself.
He deserved that first prize in 1978 even with the tough competition with Canadian pianist André Laplante!
