Thank You for taking all of us with! Finding subjects in a modern world, Herculean task! Driving by, one sees landscaping, parks and trees. This is Hollywood! The green, awful ground cover, trees as a backdrop and the park, non- existent. Real parks in LA, have rangers (enforcers) to collect exorbitant fees, for a shoot. No problem, if one part of large budget epic movie! Me doing family and few friends group, not possible! Bravo.Really detailed video.!
i wish you had more time to dedicate yourself to youtube, the production of these videos and the images are just stunning, love your work man, it inspires me to go out and shoot more, Cheers from a venezuelan guy :) And btw, for me the one that does it is #1
More often than not, photography is a game of problem solving. Thank you for taking us along on the journey to see that problem solving in action. It benefits us all to learn from episodes like this because we can recall how you handled some of the same issues we face ourselves in the field and apply them when needed.
Another great video Nick. There’s something about both yours and Jamie Windsor’s videos that just make me very happy whenever they arrive. I always think to myself ‘…great, I’m going to save that one till I’ve got time to sit down and savour it with a nice cup of coffee…” I hope both of you will just continue to produce adhoc videos on whatever keeps you interested. Thanks for the great work 👍
Congrats on your new office. I live alone in a small apartment, so the whole place is my photography/hobby office. I too have an adjustable desk so I can stand up, sometimes it just feels better to stand. Cheers!
What I love the most is just witnessing the process, because to me the most valuable time is before the shutterbutton is pressed. The process here only goes to show photography is challenging, and just the way I like it. There wouldn't be any highs without the lows.
I got addicted to using my 4x5 Reflex Hood. Using it was almost like shooting with a DSLR. There was also a straight through hood with an eyepiece that I thought about buying but glad I spent the extra for the Reflex model.
A Nick Carver on location video!!!! A shitty day for me just turned good!! Real good!! I love these dusk urban subjects, and like these photos. I'm siding with frame #1 as my favourite. Really looking forward to the desert video.... maybe some abandoned, run down architectural goodness. Awesome!!
Great video as always. I always looking forward to you next videos. This should be your full time job, you are so good at it. Not only your video are fun to watch and I learn always but the photos your take are really good. Congratulations
I could be wrong but I think this video marks a milestone for Nick. This is officially the first time he’s done a shoot where he’s actually left orange county, but not gone to the desert. 😂😂😂
I always enjoy your videos and the education of film photography and most of all, your silly sense of humor. Good to see you again Nick. Happy you got the office mostly done.
congratulations on finishing your reno's & setting up in your new space. It might take you months where you can fully relax again & not have that nagging feeling like you should be working on another massive project in your house.
Great looking setup in your new office, lot's of fun going upppp and downnn with the desk I'm sure is had ;-) Great explanaition of the various lighting with the effects of separation
Good to see you back with on location video. I couldn't see what you were seeing in this particular subject, it didn't look special enough. But your expertise in understanding light is a joy to watch. Learn so much from your videos. I hope to see you more on location. Thank you for sharing.
im a photographer at the Kohl's photo studio so I enjoyed that you were shooting in a Kohl's parking lot. unfortunately I cannot offer you any Kohl's cash.
Think I will never visit the U.S. but I love the vibe you bring along with these videos. I was very concerned about the lamp post on the left, what you would do with it until I realised it is part of the main feature of the composition. Love it.
Lots of fun watching you Nick. You handle a subject line in such a way that you create excitement for each composition. I liked exposure no 3 showing mainly artificial light and there is still some detail in your shadows on the right. Enjoy your still and video work a lot.
Oh fantastic! Every time a new on location video comes out I wait till a time i can really enjoy it! Happy to see you back in front of and behind the camera nick!
Nice to have you back on your field trips. I think you missed a shot at 14:30. The palm tree, lighting on the leaves. I thought it was interesting. Thank you for sharing your work flow and thinking process.
I would love to see a video of you scouting locations... I would find that very interesting... What catches your eye, where do you decide to go and why. Your work is phenomenal absolutely phenomenal. Love the channel
I greatly enjoyed this video, Nick! I've been working on an ongoing "tree in the city" project for a while, so I liked watching your approach to this subject. I don't do any large format work, just 35 and medium, but I can certainly learn from your care with composition and (hopefully) bring that to my work. Many thanks for this smart and thoughtful video!
Great video Nick lots of recognition in your thinking process and struggle to get the right composition. Also very educating the how you are able to visualize how the shadows will come out in the final image given the changing light....thanks to take us viewers on you journey Nick!
Good to see you back behind the lens. And that man cave… I mean office, is sweet. You were debating with yourself on keeping the mountain. Keeping it helped create another depth layer. You move into the shot and up - lot, light, trees, light horizon line, wall, KO sign, mountain, to sky. ✌🏼
Nick, I love your videos, I'm learning a lot, and being inspired. I like what you did with your truck too! I've got a challenge for you: The La Mirada Civic Center. It's got vibes every time I see it, and I think if anyone could pull it off, you could, and we'd learn a lot about composition from your shot at it.
Who are you? Why am I seeing this? Ah you're the guy that wears Hi-vis work vests 🙂 Good to see you back and #1 wins just from 2 but I'm not a motion blur hater so I'd probably flip a coin 🙂
Great video! Glad to see these on locations again. In 5 months since your YT update video you seem to be much more at ease, and I'm glad to see all the work paying off for you. 🤜🤛 (MORE CABINETRY IS THE ANSWER)
One thing I noticed right away is the excellent composition of the video shot of you setting up the 4X5 with the diagonal line of trees leading to the 4-Runner in the background. That had to be intentional and it was a cool view. Good to see you back out in "the field" again, whether in the desert or in the city.
Thanks for this awesome video Nick - you made my afternoon! - it's snowing here for the first time in weeks. Saw the thumbnail, poured out a little bourbon and enjoyed a lovely California evening with you. High marks!
I love these videos, thank you for making a new one. I also have to say, I considered myself a somewhat advanced LF shooter but there's *so much* information in that online course, extremely useful stuff that I just haven't had an idea about. I'm really, really happy with it. Worth every penny
I have never clicked on a video so fast
So true
Sometimes I like waiting for the perfect relaxing moment to watch them
lol
First time I failed to see the beauty in your composition...
YAY FINALLY THE RETURN OF THE KING 👑 🎞
I swear Nick could be a Celebrity; such a fun, charismatic cool dude. Should have his own tv show! Great vid as always! 👍
yes and would love to see a video of him and jason lee
@@scruffkingman totally! I think Nicks a better photographer though!
LOVE IT when you take us out with you, whether it's scouting or shooting.
This was a joy.
Nice to see a new video from my favorite photographer , nice greetings from Libya 🇱🇾
Wow, a three minute video turned in to 27+ but hey, I ain't complaining. Wonderful to see another video Nick!
Thanks NiCk for another pleasure trip👌🏻
I was unreasonably excited to see this video drop. It's like when your favorite band releases a new single. Thanks!!!
I don’t care if you take pictures of you john, glad your photography is back if even for a moment.
Welcome back Nick. We missed you.
Good to see you back in the field. Some of those trees along the road looked interesting too.
Thrilled to see a Nick Carver video in my feed. Love your wit and approach to light.
Thank you Nick, you are totally awesome. If I were 40 years younger, you are it!
Thank You for taking all of us with! Finding subjects in a modern world, Herculean task! Driving by, one sees landscaping, parks and trees. This is Hollywood! I've already seen this video twice... pure entertainment
i wish you had more time to dedicate yourself to youtube, the production of these videos and the images are just stunning, love your work man, it inspires me to go out and shoot more, Cheers from a venezuelan guy :)
And btw, for me the one that does it is #1
Always a good day when you get the "photography on location" notification!
I have nothing but love for these videos!
I love frame 1 and 2 with the soft powdery light
By far the most enjoyable and informative RUclipsr around.
Thanks for yet another great video Nick!
"I'm making the call...I hope it's the right call." LOL, LOL!! I'd say you did make the right call, well done.
More often than not, photography is a game of problem solving. Thank you for taking us along on the journey to see that problem solving in action. It benefits us all to learn from episodes like this because we can recall how you handled some of the same issues we face ourselves in the field and apply them when needed.
Loved watching as always man! Still one of my favorite series on RUclips, I'll always watch them.
We need some “go on get!” Nick Carver swag
Yes! So good to see another on location film. These are all home runs.
I saw that you posted a new video and I couldn’t have clicked play fast enough. So glad so see a new video from you.
Another great video Nick. There’s something about both yours and Jamie Windsor’s videos that just make me very happy whenever they arrive. Agreed! They both make amazing content in a sea of boring gear reviews.
Congrats on your new office. I live alone in a small apartment, so the whole place is my photography/hobby office. I too have an adjustable desk so I can stand up, sometimes it just feels better to stand. Cheers!
So cool to see this in depth process for scenes that I might just pass right by
What I love the most is just witnessing the process, because to me the most valuable time is before the shutterbutton is pressed. The process here only goes to show photography is challenging, and just the way I like it. There wouldn't be any highs without the lows.
Great to see another on location!
Hi Nick, so nice to see you again ...
Awesome. Out filming a wedding and I’ve got two hours to kill before the first dance. A nick carver vid is just what I needed!
I got addicted to using my 4x5 Reflex Hood. Using it was almost like shooting with a DSLR. There was also a straight through hood with an eyepiece that I thought about buying but glad I spent the extra for the Reflex model.
Oh hell yeah, we love these
I love your compositions. They have a liminal space feeling to them...like something nostalgic and familiar, but sort of out of place.
Great session Nick. Thoroughly enjoyed it. For me 1 & 3. Desert trip! Here we come.
A Nick Carver on location video!!!! A shitty day for me just turned good!! Real good!! I love these dusk urban subjects, and like these photos. I'm siding with frame #1 as my favourite. Really looking forward to the desert video.... maybe some abandoned, run down architectural goodness. Awesome!!
Good to see you again. Hopefully more often going forward.
The late afternoon sunlight 6x17 is absolutely stunning.
Whoohooo!! Super great to watch another On location video!!
Great video as always. I always looking forward to you next videos. This should be your full time job, you are so good at it. Not only your video are fun to watch and I learn always but the photos your take are really good. Congratulations

Babe wake up, Nick carver just posted another On Location episode!!
I could be wrong but I think this video marks a milestone for Nick. This is officially the first time he’s done a shoot where he’s actually left orange county, but not gone to the desert. 😂😂😂
That 4x5 film holder bag.... I need it.
I always enjoy your videos and the education of film photography and most of all, your silly sense of humor. Good to see you again Nick. Happy you got the office mostly done.
Wonderful! Love these cityscapes! My favorite is #3.
Another Classic from Nick 👌
My coffee taste so great today! Thanks Nick!
You bring passion to photography again, thanks for being back!!
congratulations on finishing your reno's & setting up in your new space. It might take you months where you can fully relax again & not have that nagging feeling like you should be working on another massive project in your house.

Ups, he did it again! What an unexpected surprise. Can’t wait to take my time for yet another gem (I‘m sure it is)
Good to see you back with on location video.

Perfect timing! Just got some 120mm film for my No2 Brownie that I bought because of you and am about to take it out for the first time.
all framed up and ready to GOOOO.
Hell yeah! Nick is back baby!!! Cheers from Brazil! 🇧🇷
Really enjoy your videos and glad to see you back Nick. Looking forward to another 'Behind the Glass with a Glass'.
Nick - thanks - another great sequence. Your explanations of your decision making always good. Look forward to the next one.
call me crazy but I love #4!
NICK CARVER YEAH BABY
im a photographer at the Kohl's photo studio so I enjoyed that you were shooting in a Kohl's parking lot. unfortunately I cannot offer you any Kohl's cash.
It would be a lot of fun to see the new office setup. I'm quite intrigued by the dust covers for the scanner...
The video felt like going with a friend to take pictures.
Nicholas!!! So good to see you again! Cool office bro. Glad to have caught up man!!!
Oooh the happiness!
Think I will never visit the U.S. but I love the vibe you bring along with these videos. I was very concerned about the lamp post on the left, what you would do with it until I realised it is part of the main feature of the composition. Love it.

Always nice to see the struggles of photography :)
Its great to see you back, Nick . That office is looking good , too. Great video, I must try that technique myself .Thanks. KB
Commenting before watching the video because I can't contain my excitement
That RUclips Nick Carver notification dopamine rush is weird
Really like that you shoot around the cities Im around. Gonna go check out this spot sometime soon
Nick you are a master. Well done.
I prefer #3 as well. Enjoyed the video. Tnaks Nick!
Frame 4 is far and away my favorite.

I felt for sure that car was going to park right in front of the camera with head lights pointing straight at you.🤣
I would love to see a video of you scouting locations... I would find that very interesting... What catches your eye, where do you decide to go and why. Your work is phenomenal absolutely phenomenal. Love the channel
