- A brief summary of who Avanti West Coast are, where they go, what they operate and any future developments. More of a information pack - this forms part of the Rail Operator Series I'm working on
Correct as of June 2022.

avanti is so horrible. at least Branson was better to his staff. we need to renationalise rail
I mean it's not that bad
@@georgedowns4034 it is. It's horrible for passengers, super overpriced for the service, and it's continuously in breach of contract in terms of contracted train frequency, yet its still subsidised massively by the taxpayer who is also she passenger. The company makes a steady profit while passengers pay for service in decline. Nationalisation is imperative
@Noeono Ohno OK well 1st class is great, the trains have pretty nice interiors, they tilt and sound nice. Staff (at least who I met are great). Fast too. Yeh ofc money is a big issue but I don't think it's all bad
@@georgedowns4034 if it’s the red and blue inventory, that’s from Virgin. The older operator
Huge improvements from Avanti over the past 6 months, which is great to see. Hopefully the trend will continue!
You've done a good job of sorting out the chaotic mess that is the West Coast timetable!
Worth noting that Avanti isn't the main service between London and Edinburgh - LNER run faster and more frequent trains via the East Coast, the Avanti service is aimed more at people travelling between the Midlands and Edinburgh but runs through from London because it's operationally convenient to combine the services like that.
Glasgow needs more London bound services
Renationalise the West coast mainline fully and correctly . Don't understand why Virgin lost the concession. The DofT have gone to mad and highly incompetent.
The Avanti 'service' is a disgrace and in breach of contract and the contracts of employment with their staff . Why do guaranteed profit's go to Italy, DB ,SNCF & NLS ?
Avanti will be long gone before H2 & 3 come into service.
Well done anyway and try and get some help with your town name pronunciations please .😜😜🏴🏴
Anybody using this company can sum it up in two words. 'BLOODY USELESS'
Bring back Virgin Trains!!!!!!!!
Nice job :) Can you do GWR next please?
He already did.
@@Tyw7 what, I posted this 9 months ago before it happened 😂
RIP Shrewsbury services ):
Yeah they will operate hs2 by the end of this century
@1:37 i really like your spider diagrams showing the service - but was really confused by the circles / squares / other symbol !
How about using D / DD / 5D for daily / double daily / 5x Daily ?
Maybe BI for once every two hours ?
Your pronunciation of Gobowen was spot on (from a local) 😎
Bring back Virgin!
Worth noting that HS2 will be operating at least 6tph from opening with 3tph continuing up the WCML from just N of Litchfield, likely to Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburg until 2031ish. After that frequency jumps to 10-12tph and takes over more WCML services N of Crewe with Phase 2a coming into service along side Euston.
Great series, can't wait for more
Gwr vid next week
2:20 - The spelling of Nuneaton! 4:49 - The Super Voyager is Class 221, not class 211 as shown. (And you've spelt Voyagers as 'Voyages').
Bring back Virgin Trains!Avanti is bloody awful!! Don not let them get their hands on HS2 please!! 🙏🏻
It's actually 56 pendolinos because there are 10 more 11 car sets as well
Amazing gwr next plz
Yes next week
I know virgin trains west coast were never perfect but they were so much better than Avanti especially when it came to connecting north Wales and Shrewsbury with the rest of the country also the virgin liveries looked so much better than Avantis do
honestly, i think the avanti livery is just as good, if not then a smidge better then virgin. with my only gripe being that it looks ‘slower’ if you catch my drift.
Please do GWR!

Just a train spotters view and riddled with errors.
it's the assvanti west coast!
Great video. One minor correction, the 11-car pendolinos are still class 390.
That’s my understanding too. Class 390 has two sub-classes, 390/0 and 390/1 for the 9-car and 11-car sets respectively.
and theres 35 of them, not 25
4:33 class 211
Informative video, small thing the 11 car pendolino fleet are still 390's but they are 390/1's.
The 68 goes to Euston station.
Gobowen pronunciation 👌
You didn’t mention the pathetic service to Northampton, which is currently, just one train a day from Edinburgh…
Avanti do not own their trains, they lease them from a ROSCO, Angel Trains for the Class 390s and Beacon Rail for the Voyagers. The future Class 807 & 805 will be leased from Rock Rail West Coast.
Avanti are one of the train operators I just don’t like. They have bad service reliability, unbelievable high prices, very crammed trains and inconvenient timetables for any station that isn’t in a big city.
My gosh man, the production value is superb. Nice combo of clear graphics containing plenty enough info.
p.s. Looking forward to this ongoing series.
there is more than 1 train a day to Glasgow Centrel
I love this company
The Class 805 Bi-Mode and Class 807 AC Electric IETs that are currently under construction and are to enter service from next year. Which the Class 805 Bi-Mode IETs is to replace the Class 221 Voyagers.
And of course Avanti West Coast will be having competition with HS2 once it's completed. And the Class 390 Pendolinos are still the best tilting trains.
Avanti will operate HS2
Yep
GWR AND CROSS COUNTRY TRAINS PLZ
GWR coming out this week!
