Das solche Jungtiere aufgepäppelt werden können , bedarf viel Wissen über diese sehr speziellen Tiere. Herzlichen Glückwunsch . Gute Arbeit wird da geleistet. Hut ab !!
It takes them that long to digest because in the wild they eat poisonous leaves which their body struggles to process, so much so that they slip into food coma trying to process eucalyptus
I've heard from reputable sources that having sloths eat ANYTHING different than their leaf based diet can lead to malabsorption syndrome, which often leads to malnutrition, and can also damage their digestion systems. which can then lead to painful, distended stomachs as the waste built up inside of the sloths. It is also said the abnormally soft diet sticks to the insides of their mouths, often cutting off the air supply, making emergency tracheostomies necessary, in some cases. Lastly, feeding them vegetables doesn't wear down their teeth like they would normally be worn down from eating leaves all the time, causing overgrown teeth that eventually rip through their jaws. But these were cases of terrible neglect too. I can point y'all to the article if you ask, and I have other sources that have led me to know this is true now. I was just hoping for an opinion from y'all. Obviously, a lazy day ain't going to hurt those sloths, lol, and you guys aren't neglecting them and keeping them prisoners their whole lives. So I'm not worried about, or accusing y'all. I appreciate what y'all do for those awesome creatures! It's just that ever since I learned about certain things, seeing sloths eat carrots, or any other vegetables, brings back nightmarish visions from what I saw firsthand...
Yeah that would be cool and all if sloths didn’t eat the worst possible thing for them the eucalyptus they eat in the wild already destroys their immune system and brain this was probs the best eating they’ve ever had

Why?
@Aeggie Plays oh
Same here!!!
Trivia, it takes a sloth 2 weeks to digest. Which is why they move slow, to not exert too much energy.

So like feeding dogs fruit, do it only as a rare treat.
