my favorite part of this series has to be when courtney acts serious at the start then the camera pans to the guests giggling
I think my favourite is the bloopers at the end when it shows how they failed to perform the lamp opening a handful of times haha
More like a cut, but same
Ah sorry, maybe you meant on the bloopers at the end, same for me still
You just know she's blown through at least a few takes that just turn to gibberish, everyone in the room seems to be fighting off the giggles at any given point in these.
Given how nuts the MK guys are, the fact Courtney is keeping them on their toes shows how unhinged she gets, I love it
and vice versa
The should give this last one to Garrett
trevor and josh are the difference between “i like cooking food” and “food is my special interest”
It very much has the vibe of "For you food is just a hobby, for me
it's a 𝓁𝒾𝒻𝑒𝓈𝓉𝓎𝓁𝑒 ✧ "
home cook vs professional chef
@@Syv_ home cook and professional home cook 😂
Exactly
I think that special interest information dump is my favorite part of their videos
Josh being all sophisticated and talking about his food knowledge and Trevor being like "I DONT KNOW" *draw a little picture* is so funny to me
more reason to not attend culinary school.
i read this right as he said “i don’t know”
Having Josh on this show is the equivalent of those videos where former bank robbers react to heist movies
Lmao that is a great comparison 😂
Courtney attempting to fully commit to this character but unable to just not laugh at herself is all too sweet.
I hope they continue to get more and more esteemed guests on this while Courtney just continues to take her act even further
@@maddibgaming2929 Gordon Ramsey!
I was also gonna compliment this character but hey you worded this better so I agree w this comment!
Trevor, acting like the youngest sibling who has a controller that isn’t plugged in😂
Omg, this made me cackle out loud, thank you!
ok, but if you're vegan and you mess with the recipe, DON'T POST A REVIEW SAYING IT'S BAD. PUT THEM AWAY!
Yeah but have you considered the ivory tower? They're not at fault, they're vegan!
even if you aren't vegan, don't alter a recipe and say that it's bad
@@renatal.129right like vegans are the only ones who have done this? lmao
I feel like the real truth is that vegans need better food science
Josh - *giving scientific facts of certain foods that actually helps solve the case*
Trevor - *draws cute doodles on his notepad*
And we are here for it!
Courtney trying to stay serious and in character, Josh really taking it seriously and infodumping about food knowledge, and Trevor just happy to be there with his friends lmaooo
I love this I need 6 more episodes of just these three lmao
It's like Brooklyn 99, if Rosa had to deal with two Boyles at once.
@@BunnyBrina frfr
Whats the difference between and chick pea and a garbanzo bean?
@@elrapido5150Courtney is absolutely giving Jake
Courtney: Knows about crimes
Josh: Knows about food
Trevor: Knows about Bananas
*Nanners
@@brianaustincartin5911 Whew, thank you for your service
Mmmmm bananas
Trevor knows his nanners.
Josh: Nerdy infodumping neurospicy
Courtney: Committed to the bit but easily agitated neurospicy
Trevor: No thoughts head empty I love my friends neurospicy
This is a fantastic comment
And we love all of them for it!
I love this trio
"neurospicy" isn't a word
@@twk4977 yeah its called a joke
the combination of josh’s intense food nerd/chef energy paired with trevor’s stoner-with-the-munchies energy so well it was comical. this episode was hilarious, i love this series!
Their energy on screen together is why I fell in love with mythical kitchen
We need to have Ian’s redacted character with Amanda’s wet cop on this show, having them with Courtney would be the ultimate food crime fighting combo!!!
Sarah Christ would have a mental breakdown and I’m here for it!
That would be friggin amazing.
I'd love that or Mr Grub and the Chosen bc that would be chaotic
Not wet cop!?! 😂😂😂😂
@renjoSounds sarah christ and redacted of course first then the other 2
Trevor is a "professional chef."
Josh is a "professional chef."
And yet the difference couldn't be more stark.
Josh is more on the geeky side.
Trevor and Josh both feel like chefs in the same way a mixologist and a bartender both make mixed drinks
Josh: Long, scientific explanation
Trevor: "I taste *NANNERS* "
Trevor is specifically a pastry chef tho so he just has a different area of expertise!
They’re Internet personalities
Josh staring at the camera after bailing on the chickpea joke at 9:33 is amazing 😂
yeaaa i came here to say somethin about that
It's the best
I was afraid 🤣
I was laughing the whole time lmao
The dynamic between the three of them in this video was incredible. The simultaneous teamwork and fighting between them was perfect, and the justice for Trevor and his nanners at the end was simply beautiful. 10/10
Courtney getting agitated with how much josh is being nerdy is prime content for me 😅
I dont have enough brain space for this 😅
Kinda makes me wonder what the point of having him on was if Courtney was just going to be rude and dismissive to what he had to say through most of it.
@@KaiLucasZachary Do you watch Smosh content? That is their love language. They are all very good friends.
@@shawnnosyd I didn’t say they weren’t friends, but it’s just kinda obnoxious to me. Admittedly though, I personally find a lot of things about Courtney obnoxious.
@@KaiLucasZacharylmao, why watch a skit video series hosted by her then?? it’s called friendly banter, calm thyself
Josh calling a magnifying glass a "food big maker" is incredibly in character of him
Josh making a Bones reference in 2023 has me shaking like a wet dog. Bones fans we are represented in this house
I feel so seen and appreciated
literally brought tears to my eyes
Dude it took me a second of what character again but I love bones
I think that the fact that mythical kitchen took it so seriously compared to Shayne and Chanse, it makes me smile because of how passionate for food they are.
i'm pretty sure all of them took it more serious than Trevor did😂❤
I love how she always gives them the folder to dispose of and all they can do is toss it confusedly
There was no confusion from Josh he knew exactly what he was doing 😆
i still can’t get over Courtney struggling to open the file while Noah and Shayne were like “this is actually what happens during investigations-“ “-and this is why nothing gets done”
I would love an entire series of Culinary Crimes with the Mythical staff, and Courtney is so talented - how they kept a straight face with Josh and Trevor is an incredible talent😂😂
Now that I have finished the episode, I somewhat rescind this because a whole season of Josh would break Courtney mentally 😂😂 Bring in Nicole!
@@NekolatheDruid Josh has grown on me over time, but a whole season of him would have me bouncing off the rubber walls.
Josh wearing his food history nerd badge while Courtney side-eyeing him and saying "no no, be dumb!" is so perfect for this video! XD
I love Trevor's happy-to-be-invovled toddler energy 😭🫶
Courtney saying 'I don't have the brainpower for this' in response to Josh saying ANYTHING is so funny
Josh: *long explanation of the history of a dish including translations of Spanish and why that means certain ingredients should be used *
Trevor: WHAT IS THE POTATOES?!
This is art.
83gemm: Josh: *long explanation of the history of a dish including translations of Spanish and why that means certain ingredients should be used *
Trevor: WHAT IS THE POTATOES?!

This is art.
I love how they've (accidentally) made the guests throwing the case folder to the ground a thing lol whenever Courtney hands them the case folder
It was hilarious watching the tug-of-war between Josh's attempts to educate us about the recipes and Courtney's desire to stick to the investigation xD
I love seeing the food knowledge of Josh. It seems so extensive. Mythical lucked out getting him as their chef and were smart to extend the brand to the Kitchen crew. And Trevor is adorable and knows his stuff too.
💯
lucked out getting them as their professional home cook, josh is not a certified chef, similar to binging with babish, they are just enthusiastic and educated
Gotta respect Rhett and Link for encouraging the people around them. What they've done with Smosh and Josh. They're outstanding people IMO
9:03 I can't get over the dramatic look on trevor's face while his note reads "I like having fun with my friends :) "
Josh and Trevor are honestly the most spot on perfect guests to be on this show. Their knowledge of food mixed with all three of their absurdism sense of humor. Incredible
Getting Josh on these cases feels like a "you need a thief to catch a thief" situation
true!
Josh's scientific, cultural and very chef-specific explanations for his theories made this episode so incredible, holy heck
Yeah he needs to be a consistent or semi consistent addition for sure
He definitely has the knowledge to play a recurring police commissioner or judge role on this series, I think that would be fantastic.
agree with the replies, regularly having someone who actually knows a lot about food would be a great addition to the show. maybe not just josh tho since he's a busy guy, but other food youtubers or members of mythical kitchen could be cool
Courtney seemed annoyed lol! 😅 I thought it was insightful, but MAYBE he is showing off? I don't know. Infodumping is my love language.
@@edenstanding8676😂
See, I enjoy an infodump in the right time and place. I think her character's supposed to be in the spotlight, with the guests as her supporting cast. His garrulous (talkative) display of greater culinary expertise took away from that.
Plus, he kept roasting her lol
I'd have been annoyed too 😂
Love how well articulated Josh is and how into the detective character Trevor is getting
Courtney: The hard-boiled, hard-headed detective
Trevor: The almost always out of pocket but reliable rookie
Josh: The know-it-all nerdy partner to the detective
Josh very calmly and clearly dissecting the carne asada meat and greens while Trevor is pulling a “Beautiful Mind” thing in the corner over the potatoes
Culinary Crimes is definitely my favorite new series on Smosh
Same here! Court really shines in this series
Same! I love Courtney in that role!
Same! A fantastic concept, and it is hilarious!
Same!
Agreed! I wasn't sure when I first saw the concept, but it really works well!
18:01 “PEOPLE MAKE EARNEST ATTEMPTS AT MURDER, JOSH!!” might be my new favorite smosh quote
I love that instead of looking up vegan recipes, these criminals just attempt to randomly substitute non-vegan recipes 😂
I don’t get it. I’ve made Aquafaba French toast before, you can find so many recipes online that use it, what possessed them to make this decision?
@@ashleyames3833 I feel like it's easier to find a recipe that fits your dietary needs as opposed to finding a standard recipe and trying to work around it. But thanks to these people, we have comedy!
@@liriodendronlasianthusI 100% agree in this context, in general though, most vegans look at non-vegan recipes and try to make a vegan version using substitutes which is how we get our alternative vegan dishes.
Not even a third of the way through this and it's already the most chaotic episode of Culinary Crimes. I expect nothing less from Josh and Trevor.
Chef Josh absolutely would be the one to say both "obfuscate" and "nanners" in the same sentence 😂
I love everything about this episode and series
First time seeing nanners without the context of Seananners behind it
Courtney is definitely channeling Damien during “What Are Those?!” And it. Is. Beautiful.
While I feel like it’s more intense focus than absolute unhinged behavior, I can see it.
We need more Chaotic Game Show Host Damien. What’re Those should come back so Anthony, Chanse, Arasha, and Angela can experience that energy.
Culinary crimes, what are those, and let's do this have been the most unhinged fun
Trevor was giving scooby doo in the second live action movie when he’s supposed to be taking notes about clues 😂
"Overall good recipe. 2 stars." Vs. "It was awful! 5 stars." Neither of these people seem to know how to rate things.
I love how Josh is "heres everything you need to know about food. the history, fun facts science." and trevor is just "Food nice :)"
I already know this is going to be gloriously chaotic; I love when Smosh and Mythical do crossovers🤣.
I love how even though smosh is no longer owned by mythical they still hang out with them and I have always and will always love trevor on smosh makes me happy every time
God I love the dynamic with these 3. Trevor and Josh are always a gem together and Courtney is like the glue barely keeping them focused
This needs to be an official series. Josh as the forensic specialist elevated the episode. Trevor is awesome in everything. Way better than csi!
The fact that they had to bring in members of the Mythical Task Force to help solve these crimes just shows how heinous they are.😨
"The food big maker"-Josh referring to the magnify glass. 🔎 😂
And Trevor always cracks me up.
Josh with his magnifying glass: goes on a long tangent about how adding garlic powder to carne asada is superfluous and then goes on to educate about meat substitutes that have been around for thousands of years
Trevor with his butter knife: I need to know what the potatoes is
Courtney trying to act as the lead detective while getting visible annoyed at Josh just food-splaining everything is amazing
I didnt think she was agitated by his info dumping but I'm autistic and identify with his info dumping so maybe I'm just being hopeful lmao
I hope she was being joke annoyed, because I would love to keep seeing that dynamic going forward. I enjoyed the other episodes of this as well, but Josh nerding out was exactly what this series didn't know it needed
It's a hair annoying. But only because he gives nobody else a chance to speak when he's doing it @@BunnyBrina
@@Kelarysshe was being joke annoyed lmao
"Bananas is not eggs." I sense Josh is brainstorming a new podcast idea.
can yall please do vegan recipes gone wrong with anthony & garret?! (not just non-vegan recipes poorly attempted as vegan)
yes I've been hoping they'd do this too!
That last person knows that bananas are genetically modified right? Bananas naturally have huge seeds in them but have been genetically modified to not have seeds. Corn is also genetically modified to produce a natural insecticide to protect corn from bugs.
It's a troll comment on an online recipe. Apparently they were parodying Moira Rose from Schitts Creek
I mean a GMO is usually referring to something that was modified using laboratory gene changes, not selective breeding.
Both would technically be genetic modifications as you would select for bananas that genetically stop producing seeds, but in that case basically any crop would qualify as a GMO
I love the running gag of
"Can you take care of this?"
"Sure" *tosses envelope on ground*
Makes me chuckle every time, I don't know why, lol.
I know it's coming, it's still funny every time
I wonder how often Courtney has to redo scenes while filming this 🤔 😂
The intro alone often takes 5 or so takes based on bloopers included in previous episodes. Once the serious stuff is done, I doubt there's much they need to redo.
Courtney periodically being horrified sitting so close to Josh's antics is hilarious to me!
i adore josh for standing up for GMOs
Omg, Josh making the Chickpea / Garbonzo Bean joke and just leaving it hanging with a knowing nod was gold!!
if you know, you know
I actually love this series. It's charming, it's cute, the premise is great. You can tell Courtney loves doing it, and the guests love Courtney. Good times all around.
20:03 “and Corn Pops are a cereal I have in my fridge” dude 😂 an interesting way to store your cereals. I guess he likes his cold.
“I like having fun with my friends :)” 😭💕
Courtney, “Have you crimed?”
Trevor, “I’d rather not say here.”
Me: 🤣
Josh calling the magnifying glass a "food big maker" is hilarious.
I love that somehow, every single guest has committed to the bit of throwing the papers blindly behind them when asked to take care of them
as a culinary student, this series is a personal level of relatable ✨😭😭
So Josh is the Culinary Crimes equivalent of Dexter, right?
The level of commitment Courtney has toward their character with each passing video has become almost superhuman.
Character? What character? That is Detective Courtney Miller of the FCPD, they've earned their badge through nauseating training like everyone else! 😂
@@IceMetalPunk I should be thrown in jail for that kind of mistake.
Dear Josh: no premade spice blend has EVER had enough garlic.
Signed - people who like garlic
So glad Trevor is now a cast member!! So excited to see him more ❤
Josh was amazing in this episode, matching the energy so well and being an amazing detective. His slurping of the custard dead-face caught me so off-guard.
trevor repeatedly muttering ‘bananas….. it’s nanners….’ took me tf out lmao
I love Josh referencing Emily Deschanel in Bones. 😂 this series feels like it 😂
People may think he's annoying or full of unnecessary information, or he talks too much, but I love Josh. He schools me every time.
As a Hungarian I must thank Josh! 😅 A good quality paprika powder can be quite flavorful. Especially if it's spicy.
Btw I love the show and Courtney as the host. You guys are amazing! 😃
And we also use it a lot, because just a hint of paprika won't make a difference. I mean, when we make sausage, we measure the paprika powder by the kilogram... :D
do you recommend any particular seasoning brands?
Hearing that in the video I had to scroll down in the comments to find the first Hungarian paprika comment. Not from ther, but I've had hungarian paprika, and when visiting I brought Erős Pista and Haragos Pista to home.
Definitely not a joke spice, Haragos is damn solid, coming from someone who has tried carolina reaper, last dab and da bomb.
It has great flavour though!
As an American, Chicken Paprikash is one of my favorite dishes to make.
@sweetserialkiller5596 I can recommend paprika products from Kalocsa and Szeged. I think Kalocsai I. class sweet paprika powder is great. I use that for cooking. But it depends on your taste. We usually have 4 types of paprika powder (I'm sure paprika experts would say we have more): édes ("sweet"), enyhén csípős ("mild spicy"), csípős/erős ("spicy"/"strong") and füstölt ("smoked"). If the color of the paprika is red and has rich bitter-sweet taste it's great. If it's color is orangy or brownish you know it's not the best quality and probably don't really have a good taste. Keep it in a cool dry dark place in a well-sealed container to prevent it from oxidation and it's gonna be fine for a while.
The bones reference 🙌🏻
Courtney: Bones
Trevor: Sweets
Josh: Hodgins
Watching this makes me realise how little I know about cooking! Loved it❤
Another Bones fan spotted!!! (have you checked out the bones podcast yet? Emily Deschanel and Carla Gallo are reviewing every episode. only an intro episode so far due to it starting RIGHT before the strikes, but still worth keeping an eye on for when it starts back up!)
LOL we are called Squints not Bones heads lolol
I dunno, I think Josh might be the Bones and Courtney is a more of a Saroyan. Trevor is either Sweets... or Christine 😂
Idk I think Trevor is Dasiy 😂
I thought Bones fans were called Boners. At least that's people called me...Anyway Carla was one of my favorite recurring characters. Also here is a before they were stars note...Michaela didn't seem like much of a science geek in high school her focus was on performing arts but that winning personality that made Angela popular as a star of the show is all her own. I was excited to see her onscreen in the very first shot of the show and get a chance to have a good role with character growth over 12 seasons. Still waiting to see if she resurfaces at some point.
This series is SO funny!!
Also, Josh, Bones was amazing! My second baby used to fall asleep to the theme tune I watched so much while I was nursing her 😂
This is one of my favourite series on youtube overall, I just love the atmosphere the comedy and the premise. Awesome show!
Courtney's "I don't have enough brain space for this" is exactly how I feel listening to Josh most of the time
Yea, not because its so complicated or anything - just boysplaining at 100 miles an hour. 😭
Trevor absolutely KILLED in this episode, he's got me over here giggling at his little doodles 😭
1:42 i love courtneys character in this series😂😂😂 trevor is under rated. Josh is rly fun to listen too
These three should be the cast. A chef and a comedy rascal under the guidance of their chief.
I NEED Josh at least to recur often. Like out of every five episodes he should be in three of them. His knowledge is awesome.
“People make earnest attempts at MURDER JOSH!” I love Courtney lol
as a vegan i promise you some of us can actually cook and properly substitute 😭 this video is setting us back LOL happy to see Josh mostly enjoying though 😂
I know! Just Google vegan French toast or vegan egg tarts! There are so many of those recipes online.
I believe it! I was vegan for a while, but even then I stayed humble enough to understand not everything can be substituted for anything in a recipe. Just stick to the instructions, folks 😞If you're vegan, look for vegan recipes! It's not that hard.
The show is kinda starting to just feel like shitting on vegans tbh lol
I wish the criminals just sought out vegan recipes instead 😢 these random substitutions were disgusting
It's similar to gluten free recipes. One of my cousins has celiac and when she was first diagnosed with that illness there were very few recipes and places she could eat. Now it seems like everyone is on a gluten free diet even though doctors say if you don't have to be on a gluten free diet you should not cut it from your diet.
You HAVE to invite them back! This was so good. I could listen to Josh forever. He’s a walking encyclopedia for food. I love the dichotomy between Josh and Trevor. Fantastic episode!
9:30 "hey do you know the difference between a chickpea and a garbonzo bean is?" HE WAS TOO EMBARRASED TO FINISH THE JOKE HAHAHA HE JUST GAVE UP
Josh wisely pulling the ripcord on the chickpea/garbanzo bean joke.
"Is this a nut?! IS THIS A NUT?!" Courtney is cracking me up in this show! Their reactions are so over the top but also played so serious! Please keep making this
Trevor: good at building tension
Courtney: trying to figure things out
Josh: big brain boy
Josh giving up on the chick pea/garbanzo bean joke and then staring at the camera is peak comedy.
Trevor doesn't care while Josh cares too much 😂😂
Having Josh on this is SOOOOO good. I love his approach to the show so much I can't wait to see more and how different guests will be like! Courtney's doing a wonderful job as always!
8:54 Hungarian watching here, thank you Josh 😂😂😂😂
Having the Mythical Kitchen boys on the show is what it needed. They really know their stuff, and watching Josh dig his fingers into the food to find ingredients was true investigative work. I hope you bring them on more full time.
I love the balance of Josh's intense expertise and Trevor's Gen Z lackadaisical chill vibe
I love how knowledgeable Josh is! I could listen to him talk about food for hours
I love this series so much! You should get Johnny Cakes for a baking episode!
Y’all should have the guests dress up as detectives too
