Had a 1973 SJ when it was one year old.
455 cu. inch with a lot of torque!
I went through lots of cars back then including a '70 SS 454 LS5 Chevelle, a '70 GTX 440 6bbl and other's that were much quicker than the GP but the SJ was probably the most enjoyable and comfortable car I've ever driven, especially on the highway.
I ran the hell out of that car for two years and the only reason I sold it was because I was afraid it was going to break from the abuse I put it through! 😢

I had a black '73 when I was a kid. I bought it used from an Oldsmobile dealer. I have a great story about its purchase but story is too long for this venue. My GP was a little better optioned - power windows, seats, etc. I had that car 11 years. It never once broke down or left me stranded. Being a young asshole I drove the crap out of that 455

A Grand Prix without power windows is like a 300 lb person ordering the entire menu and a coffee with sweet n low

I drove this exact car plus power windows, locks, driver seat, cruise, etc. from 75’-79’
Was a new car then. Man I miss that car more than any other car and I had some beauties. Would bury the needle and steer it with one finger. Probably 130 mph at least. Straight as an arrow.

Wow! Exactly what I drove when I got drivers license. It was in 1975 so basically a new car. If I remember it had 26k on it. What a gem.

My very first car $200 was a beater way back in 87 liked it so much and got another one for $800. The way it was in the classifieds (73 grand prix tripleblack eagle st's 400cu 4barrelcarb duel exhaust $800 w extra parts)
Had some great moments in both those cars!

Air but no power windows, what an odd ball.

Agreed. The 70's were weird with optional equipment.

I had a '74 Grand Prix with tilt wheel and factory air. No power windows or power door locks. Not really uncommon back then.
