For sure, they're all the same, but Nikki conducts the shared social-humility-performance so perfectly ineptly that it threatens the shared fantasy.
I love that her character is the least successful of the group, making her over-compensate the most. I hope we get a little series about these cousins "the normal" ones needs her around to project on to.
Would be hilarious if we discovered that her pro-bono performances at Red Robin were actually bringing delight to millions of children who are all genuinely desperate for a photo with her.

No doubt. It would have been fitting, given the obnoxiousness of the others.
Kinda true because I was at a friend's apartment last week and he was playing some channel that only shows like sci-fi and horror B movies muted in the background while we hung out, and there was some insane movie on about some 5-headed shark and these fuckin shark wizards that controlled sharks with vaguely future-tech gloves, but then one girl did it at the end without the gloves like Neo realizing he's the one. It sort of looked like Waterworld meets Sharknado, but we had it muted the whole time and I could not follow the plot well, but Nikki was in at least one scene on a boat early on, and it was weird to me seeing someone I only know from RUclips skits in one of the weirdest "so bad it's good" shark movies I've ever accidentally seen.
I was waiting for Brad Pitt to come in and ask his favorite co-star if she was ready to go... disappointed.

lol while her character is over the top and annoying it’s also frustrating being the only person at the table who can’t relate to the conversation. I work in finance and my roommate when I was in my mid 20s was a good friend of mine that was in grad school for pharmacy and when I’d go out to a brewery after work with him & his lab friends I’d feel so awkward sitting there listening to them talk about their lab experiments bc I just had nothing to add to the conversation so I sat there in silence until the topic shifted.

Yeah.....this is interesting because as an audience we see "successful people" hyping each other up around a person that isnt in the same field. Was there a "how was your day?" or a "man....remember when..?" that we missed? Because if not, these are just glad-handers with no real connection outside of their idea of fame. Nikki was presented as the "issue" when they are, lol.

I think this clever skit works on a lot of levels. The three at the table are obviously hypocrites and jerks. They punched down at the Nikki person, and showed envy for some person who is not there. They are basically trash talkers. Then after they start bragging and bragging, they turn on the Nikki girl for just trying to tout herself a bit. It must kind of suck to live in a giant bubble like LA where your presence on social media is all that defines you.

The twist is Nikki wasn't even in the Top 3 of assholes at that table.
The sketch made no sense whatsoever. The three jackasses abhor Nikki monologuing that she is successful (even though it's all fake), BUT they IMMEDIATELY start pumping each other up with flouts. If they had all agreed to downplay everything to keep from setting Nikki off - and had to work really hard to squelch just how awesome their lives are right now - then we've got a conflict that drives the comedy. Instead we get Nikki being over the top weird. Am I misremembering or did Nikki do a similar video a while back with her galpals on a similar theme...except in that one, they were downplaying in order to not trigger her.
