I am an old lady and I think you guys are awesome. I wish more young people would get their head out of the sand and see what really matters. May God bless you both.
I don't understand why people would continue watching channels if they don't enjoy the content and then end up making negative comments. Please continue with what you're doing. Those of us who enjoy your channel love seeing the way you guys do things❤
You are living the life you want to, and that’s way more important than what anyone else thinks, you have no debt, land to build on that is paid for, and have an emergency fund , ( most Americans do not have one)..you’re doing great! ❤
Wow, some people are so hateful, rude, and flat out stupid! It’s your life, and living within your means is a great thing! Life is not about material things, and kids will be fine without the latest toy or video game. I love your insights and that you’re making your hustle work for you! ❤
I agree with Asher. People that have money are the ones that you would never guess had anything. Great video guys❤❤. LOVE APPALACHIA❤❤❤. AND Asher is so intelligent! But both of you are❤. I’m not editing anymore😅
Both as a couple, family & individual you are doing outstanding! It’s no one’s business your lifestyle. People that speak negativity typically “are jealous”. Frugal is a smart choice that can bring peace to anyone that tries this lifestyle! Keep on trucking in your journey…..& save, save, save! P.S. hubby is a kool dude !
I think you two are awesome and sharing with us ,it can teach those that are having hardship and need help to survive, and it shows you can still enjoy life.
The people that are hateful and negative are really just jealous and unhappy in their own lives. It’s a (sad) reflection of their character, not yours!
I worked in the system for about my first 10 years of working getting a regular paycheck. I hated it. I started my own business and built it up in the first year so much so my husband was able to quit his job and come work for our business. We made our own hours and generally only worked at the most 4 days a week. Worked it around our kids and life for 30 years then sold it and retired early. We have a paid for homestead and supplies and food for the next two years or so. We love our life. When i had my own business i always said i don't have to make coffee for anyone i don't want to. LOL. To me it is far better to be your own boss if you can. Most all of my bosses when i worked for other companies were idiots and i always felt i was the one correcting their mistakes, but never got credit or the big money. I finally said i can do better for myself and family making my own way. Most people just don't believe enough in themselves to take the plunge. What a shame. Edit in: We also live frugally andd have low bills, mostly just pay for services such as electric, internet, phones, and health insurance. Land, house, and vehicles are all paid for.
@@CassieDavis613 we did water treatment. My husband use to work for the city, but they started wanting him to fudge reports of which he refused to do. It would have been his license on the line, not the cities. I got my water license and worked for a separate company until I left and started my own business. Then a year later brought him on.
I love to calculate every penny I spend. Unfortunately, live on Social Security, so we do have to count to pennies … We never overspend, yes, sometimes we do treat ourselves to some thing, the grandkids always get birthday and Christmas gifts. But being materialistic in this day and age is not for us. We have what we need and that’s all that matters.
I'm listening to all the comments and are just dumbfounded by how arrogant and opinionated people are, without even knowing you!!! Mindboggling! I think you are amazing parents and people and are to be admired for living out your philosophy, and wish more people were like you. The world would have been a much better place if there were more people like you.❤❤❤
I love your videos! ❤ And I know you guys inspire many. Some People Are unhappy with their lives and are envious of others… deflecting their insecurities on others.
I love that you and Asher did this together. It's so nice to hear his voice and get to know him. I look forward to your videos, and thanks for another great one.
I find, that most of the frugal people are neurodivergent, including me and my family. We just try to be as effective with our resources as we can, is a must for our brains to be content. You are a lovely couple... :) Greetings from SLovakia.
It is really no one's business how you afford the things in your life. You and your family are amazing. Keep making videos and teach us how to live frugally ❤❤
I love your channel. Y'all are both very smart, creative and articulate. I think it is great you are not following the norm and are doing what works for you in this season of your life. More videos with Asher.
I have always enjoyed your content. You are both hardworking, fun loving, family oriented people. Frugality is only about smart choices, regardless of income level.
Please do more videos like this one! I absolutely loved listening to you and Asher! I laughed so hard with some of his comments, it made my night. You both are so amazing ♥️♥️ Much love from 🇨🇦
This has been such a great vlog. Your perspective has been eye opening (as has people’s comments and expectations.) One thing that jumped out to me - it’s so obvious that we seem to live in a world where so many people project their values and beliefs on to others. It’s just sad. Be kind people. Celebrate the differences we all have. Lead by example and action instead of being an armchair quarterback.
In my experience, the difference between frugality and poverty is uncertainty. Responsible parents like you two can give kids the self-confidence to launch well into an amazing future. Children raised in uncertainty will see dangers in their future before they can see their opportunities. Love your channel, thanks!
Keep living intentionally guys. We have the same mindset and watching your videos inspires us to keep going through the tough times that we all face. Lets make it intentional to build each other up instead of trying to tear each other down. I think it is helpful to address the negative comments and you got a good balance there with ending with the positive comments. The nasty comments come from a place of misunderstanding, lack of education and deep bitterness usually through jealousy. I feel sorry for those people they are missing out on a better way of living.
I think you both are living your own lives. You have taken care of your family and are hard workers. People seem to forget that working your land and being self reliant was the way of life not to long ago. My grandparents worked and toiled their land, canning food and storing things up for the wintertime. They never owned a car. My grandfather had only a wagon and a mule and they weren't poor at all. My grandmother sewed and made all they shirts, quilts and sheets and more. They made handmade furniture and sold it at the edge of their land by the road they lived near. The things I learned from them I handed down to my next generation. Pay no attention to comments. You both are doing wonderful and I applaud you both. Keep up the good work and enjoy your life and happiness you have. Work your land, build your homestead and grow your RUclips channel. I'm glad to see how smart you are with your money and how you make good choices for the important purchases you do need to make. Those skills are good to have in life. Your skills are wise lifetime skills that can be useful in any situation. Keep up the good work and make your life a happy one. I love the way you both have dedicated your life to all your kids. Listen, everyone has problems in life. No one is perfect. You both are wise and dedicated to your goal. Go for it , your already making it happen. Katie and Asher, you can cook, plant a garden, raise animals and plan your way thru life. Keep at it, you are a team !!
I always look forward to watch your utube videos. I understand frugal... we have enough food for a year.. we have always been careful. At 65 living our best life on a country road beside our river. We have alot of rescue babies.. taking many walks.. thank you
OMG! Those keyboard basement dwellers are so cruel in your comment section 🤯. Your family looks to be happy and thriving so what’s their problem. Keep being intentional and continue and thanks for sharing your frugal lifestyle.
I just watched your Q&A.. love your channel, btw. Ok.. this is to the uninformed woman who was obsessed with body hair.. In the early 1970’s NONE of us girls shaved, nor did we wear bras..shocking, I know! I think this person needs to focus on her life, not others. Oh yea, we all came from upper middle class families, but at 20 years of age we made our choices. I see your channel as a modern day version of years gone by. Thanks .. you guys rock!
You are an amazing couple. Also very smart with your lifestyle. Men in Finland knit and crochet. Good for you for doing what you like to do. My family is also on the spectrum. We love to travel and spend time the bush. Good for you for what you have achieved.
When you're doing what you love to do during your working years, retirement just becomes what will you do when you can't work anymore. I think that's a hard concept to understand for some people who are working the 9-5 grind at a job they can barely tolerate. On the furgal side of things, it is always fun for us to see how much we can save and never pay full price for anything. It's up to the couple to decide who works and when. There were many times that my husband took care of the kids while I worked since I got my degree first and made more. Some people are hung up on trying to force people into a box. Their energy would be better spent taking care of their own lives instead of judging others. Y'all are doing great!
I have been following your channel for a couple of years now and I love how real you are. I think you all live an amazing life. Keep true to yourselves, which I know you all will, and thank you for bringing all of us along. 🥰
I knew I followed for a reason, I am audhd and i plan like y'all. I have multiple plans. I am currently working on getting our budget down, and working on the dirt on my property. Thank you for sharing.
You guys make a great couple! Loved hearing your husband's perspective and his grandmothers too 😂 And I think I am the same age as you ( born in 1985) and I totally feel the same about being in a weird transitional generation. We are really the last generation that grew up/ remembers what it was like before the internet and cell phones, social media, etc.
You and your husband are hilarious. I agree 💯 % with grandma. Yeah, y'all spent money on a vehicle. I bet y'all will drive that truck until the wheels fall off. ❤ from Northern Virginia.
Do what makes you happy and forget the naysayers. There's no crime in being frugal, and it is much less stressful than being in a lot of debt. Take care and thanks for your information
Love this conversation! I don’t have Autism but I also love to calculate and plan for fun. It’s not stressful, it’s about looking at all the possibilities 💗 I think you guys seem really fun to hang out with.
I'm extremely frugal. I plan on not going without in very bad times. I slice up on piece of meat and add spaghetti. I get clothes in yard sales and I find furniture on the side of the road. Clean them up and paint or put new feet on old furniture. I have money in my pocket most of the time, because I am so frugal.
You guys have it together way more than most in your age range, or most age groups for that matter. You make smart, calculated decisions and if you don’t feel deprived, then good for you! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! Being frugal to me is like a game.Wonder if the person that commented about the truck paid cash for their vehicle?? Just sayin
I’m cracking up about people being upset about you not shaving 😂. I haven’t shaved for over 20 years. Loved this video. ❤from Michelle in Brisbane Australia
Some of those questions were insane lol That lady who told you to buy a cheap razor is not very frugal. I mean you could save more money by getting your husband to pluck the hairs out from under your arm. It will even bring you closer together for free. On a more serious note the reason we grow hair under our arms as adults is to draw sweat away from under the arm. It does have a purpose. Traditional jobs were agricultural with people working on their farms. So loved this vlog. Well done.
I have multiple millions net worth and am very frugal...being frugal is in part how i got to multiple millions .... I enjoy spending on investments and things i really love.... like my tiny 100 year old DIY beach cottage.... it is pure peaceful basking... These critical folks are closed minded... sad...
I'm in my 70's, my Daddy always said, if you can make a living for another, you can make a living for yourself and he always worked for himself to provide for the family. We weren't rich, but we were well loved and had all our needs met. Each couple must do what is best for them and their family. There is no such thing as 'one size fits all.' Blessings.
Working with less income makes you more creative and great at problem solving. Being frugal makes you focus on what's most important to you and can make you a better person in the end. I enjoy your videos and have learned from them even though I'm much older. The people who criticize you should understand that your lifestyle works for you and your family. It's not meant for everyone and you're only sharing tips that could benefit someone.
I just have to say that you guys are so cute!!! Both my husband and I work our tails off and for what? Can’t take money with you when you die. We’re both very unhappy and stressed out. Our dream is to live like you guys. We are currently looking for land and starting our plans for that rich lifestyle and we both can’t wait to achieve them. I’ve always shopped at Goodwills and picked up things on the side of the road…..not because we are poor but because I like to. Now I get friends and family all the time asking me to start looking for things for cheap or free cause it’s my hobby that I really enjoy doing. So let the haters hate, ignore the toxic that people carry and just live your best life. That’s the true happiness is just doing what you enjoy. ❤
I love your channel!!!! My only question is…WTF do this people care and judge others? Mind your own business. This channel is for those of us that care to learn and see other perspectives. Keep doing what you are doing!!!!
Wow! Obviously some of those negative comment people, have NO clue as to what your channel is all about! I'm with your husband on that one, I lost some brain cells!😂
People are hilarious. Who has time to spend their days watching RUclips channels they disagree with and making snarky and judgmental comments to strangers? Rest assured, you have plenty of fans who appreciate what you're doing (and how hard you're working).
I am always shocked at the insulting comments that people make on your videos, simply because you choose to live a different lifestyle than what they were taught is the only acceptable lifestyle, as well as the assumptions they make about you. Anyone who has been watching your videos should know that Asher works HARD every day. On many of youur videos he can be seen building things on your property, clearing land, caring for the animals, and so much more. Your child is obviously happy and curious about life. And you work together as a team, always thinking about what is best for your entire family and how every decision might affect your future. I could not live the way you live, but I admire what you are doing.
love the answers given to the negative comments hopefully the haters who commented got some educational values. love you're channel and content. intentional living is not for everyone unfortunately
It's so funny how little people know about rich people. I lived in Highland Park, Tx while going to SMU on scholarship. It's all smoke and mirrors. The majority were leasing the huge homes in the area. They didn't own the home. Most were on the hustle to just meet the "right" people. I saw more people have their credit cards declined there than anywhere..At the grocery store, at the doctor's office..Being frugal is a skill..Even Donald Trump, I remember in the 80s him saying that when he needed a helicopter, he would buy used. My frugal friend retired with millions. It's much better to live below your income.
I think to be able to live satisfied and contented in a simple and frugal life despite of what society tells is an accomplishment living in this modern world that is teaching you to constantly want and desire, not to be satisfied, continuously accumulate material stuff only to end up wanting more, a never ending cycle. It's like filling up an empty void. ***It just takes a lot of depth and realizations for one to decide a life that's unconventional.
Great video. I feel frugal in a lot of areas like driving used cars, shopping for sales, doing my own hair, etc…but I struggle with eating out because I run out of ideas and don’t like cooking all the time😩
Most other countries don’t shave their legs or arm pits or use deodorant! It is totally an American thing. But also a personal choice. I think people who leave negative comments have a horrible life and they just want to take it out on someone. I’ve been living frugal for 62 years! And I watch to learn new things. Thank you for putting yourself out there. I know it’s tough. People criticize everything! So sad.
This is a very relative question. It depends on each one's financial position and how they choose to manage their money/ life. What you are doing would be too much for me but it works for you. However , if I needed to I would be willing to be more frugal though in a manner that suits my family.
I am an old lady and I think you guys are awesome. I wish more young people would get their head out of the sand and see what really matters. May God bless you both.
your family is so rich in ways that many people dont understand
Exactly. Time rich, healthy and happy.
I don't understand why people would continue watching channels if they don't enjoy the content and then end up making negative comments. Please continue with what you're doing. Those of us who enjoy your channel love seeing the way you guys do things❤
I say people should mind their business. It is your life!
Your grandma has the best quot ever :)
Grandma for the win 😂
You are living the life you want to, and that’s way more important than what anyone else thinks, you have no debt, land to build on that is paid for, and have an emergency fund , ( most Americans do not have one)..you’re doing great! ❤
I think it’s wonderful to see a young couple being so smart. Most people think they have to keep up with the “Jones’s”.!
Loving seeing Asher back in videos lately.

😆 Thanks! And, yes, Asher is intelligent ❤️
I would love to see some things your hubby has crocheted!! 🧶
Being frugal is a fun game for me. Trying to spend less than other.

I’m cracking up about people being upset about you not shaving 😂. I haven’t shaved for over 20 years. Loved this video. ❤from Michelle in Brisbane Australia
Some of those questions were insane lol
That lady who told you to buy a cheap razor is not very frugal.
Well done.
Hahaha! Hair plucking is definitely the frugal way to go!
Yes! Creativity and problem solving is definitely a huge advantage!
Thank you!
Thank you :)
You guys are doing great. I'm sorry that you have to deal with small minded people.
love the answers given to the negative comments hopefully the haters who commented got some educational values. love you're channel and content. intentional living is not for everyone unfortunately
You should do a live stream. Would love it.
Oh gosh, maybe. That makes me so nervous 😂
Yes agree!
I feel your kids are better off than most kids today. I doubt they are in front of screens all day. They are out experiencing nature.
Great video. I feel frugal in a lot of areas like driving used cars, shopping for sales, doing my own hair, etc…but I struggle with eating out because I run out of ideas and don’t like cooking all the time😩
I honestly don't like cooking all the time either. I can do it maybe 3 days a week before it becomes not fun lol. Meal prepping saves me!
I've noticed when people retire they don't live long after retirement because they stop being physically active and doing something. Just my thought
We agree!
