      HEX I agree but it’s way harder cause you gotta pay very close attention and every now and then slow it down to see it in slow motion on how it’s done. I remember someone from boxing once said is if you wanna learn a technique or a skill always find a person who is known for it and study them as much as possible and as much detail as possible. For example in boxing let’s say you wanna know how to do the Philly Shell, you would probably study someone like Floyd Mayweather cause he is very well known for it as many of his defense skills. I think it’s harder than watching this video but trust me you’ll learn the best way to do it rather than what most people do which don’t get me wrong works but do you wanna be good an like everyone else or Wanna be above and beyond with the skill your learning. All depends on how serious you are but I absolutely agree

    One thing fluump said that stuck with me was that when you’re approaching the ball (usually upside down) don’t focus on landing the reset until the very end. Meaning that fly at the ball with the nose of your car pointed directly at the center of the ball. Once you’re lined up perfectly then lean ur car to hit the ball with the wheels

      That helps 100%, I definitely can’t hit flip resets consistently but I found after some time that that tip helps significantly. That’s why when you watch pros they can go from what looks like an air dribble to a flip reset instantaneously. They are perfectly positioned to just rotate their car slightly to get their 4 wheels on the ball, so they’re not worried about getting under it, rather going straight at it and then just leaning back a bit to hit it.

    By far the best flip reset tutorial on RUclips even though it's over a year old. You don't go overly in depth because anyone who has the ability to learn this mechanic already has the basic knowledge needed.
    The only thing that I learned from my practice that I don't think you covered here is to use boost to build momentum toward the ball but not boost as you're pulling down to hit the reset. After 20 hours of struggling I finally figured out that was the thing holding me back. That fraction of a second I was holding boost too long plus the impact of the reset was sending me much further toward the ground than I needed to be and left me in really difficult positions to effectively use the flip or I smacked the ball so hard that it went way ahead of me. If anyone else gets like me to where they consistently and quickly get the setup and hit the reset but are struggling in using that reset I recommend checking your boost usage.

    100 stiffness helps hugely as it recenters the camera in car cam when you get your flip reset, I learnt that from scrub and kuxir. And it really is just months of practice, what helped me at the start was boosting upside straight into the ball from head on, then turn the nose of your car to the ground just before you make contact with the ball. 9/10 times I can get a flip reset now and am often surprised when I don't get it.

    Yea this stuff is great, I've been looking for a channel that goes into depth on the high level mechanics for a while now. I'm ranked around 1750 in doubles so I know just about everything that the typical "how to" videos explain, so I appreciate you going into the small details. I'd like to see a video where you talk to a bunch of high level players and get them to tell you one small relatively unknown thing they do to improve their game. My example would be something I'm working on adding into my game at the moment. When trying to start a dribble from a ball falling from high above, hold powerslide to reduce the height of the ball bounce off your car. What this does is transfer some of the ball's energy into your car which allows for a lower ball bounce and quicker control. The side effect is obviously that your car loses speed or can be pushed out to the side away from the ball making recovery slow. Anyway, check it out in free play and see if you could get a video of similar details like this made. It would certainly be interesting.

    Great work! What commitment. Genuinely so impressed. I have a few questions: Is it possible to do it without a tornado spin? • @Thanovic
      @Thanovic  4 года назад +3

      I don't tornado spin when I come of the right wall so it's definitely possible. I think it's not even that hard to do it without the tornado honestly, I just got used to the tornado faster. And you will have to put a little bit of work into learning the movements with the tornado but you could try just trying to keep your car up in freeplay while only doing tornado spins and variations of them, that really helps your control. And thank you for the kind words!!! ❤️

    • @HexTheLegend
      @HexTheLegend 4 года назад +2

      Almost everything is possible as long you have boost manage, the good of tornado spinning is that you control car direction and speed easier if you're used to it.
      If you need to bind new controls and the time it'll be needed to get used to it, it'll depend on how much/hard you train. There's no specific time cause every player has different skill level and knowledge

    One of the biggest tips I can give about flip resets is actually learning how to control your ball touches... by that i mean being able to understand how to stick your car to the ball or how to bounce the ball off of your car in the air. For instance, if you start an air dribble but you do NOT want the ball to stick to your hood (example: getting a double touch out of an air dribble set up, or flip reset out of a air dribble) you want to make drastic changes between your car speed and the ball speed, usually by letting go of boost for a second to gain space, and then holding boost down to get a harder touch on the ball. This can open tons of options for your offense, and the same can be said with the opposite. If you learn how to match the ball speed and close the distance without hitting the ball hard, you can similarly transition from a hard set up to something more controlled like being able to get your flip reset and then air dribble out of it. These tips aren't just for controlling speed with boost either - flipping towards the ball is relevant with space and difference of acceleration being variables that you can change. There's endless possibilities once you start delving deeper into understanding what actions create what reactions with the ball. Car control can help learn how to get the flip reset at first, but ball control is the next step.
    SUMMARY: Learn to control your touches. It makes everything easier and gives more options later on.
    A side note: learning how to get a hard touch can also help with the setup being more consistent. I personally like to get into an air dribble and take a slight touch in the air to sort of "set" the ball for my flip reset if I am ever given the time. Especially useful for cross map plays! :)

    Here is why I think flicks would be a more worthwhile video than double touches: Double touches have a limited variation and there are only 3 main parts, the first touch, the mid air correction and the shot. Once you can consistently hit double touches there is not much variation you can add. However with flicks, there are many different ways you can vary the shot. There are front flip flicks, diagonal flicks, 45 degree flicks, 90 degree flicks, 180 degree flicks and everything in between. You also have to match the speed of the ball, which requires control, and be able to control the speed of the flick. It would give much more variation and show much more progress.

    Great tutorial! Only problem I "caught" is that you don't actually and practicly need all four of your wheels to touch the ball to get a flip reset. You can get a reset even if the ball doesn't make contact with any of your wheels. The main point is that you get the reset if the ball makes contact with the mass center of the car, which is slightly of center of the bottom of the car. That means that there may be points that the ball hits all four wheels, yet you don't get a reset. But again, great video! Keep it up!

    My only additional comment would be that it's a little easier (at least for me) to get the flip before the ball starts to come back down to the ground. Meeting the ball as its still going up matches the direction of your car movement and makes it easier to get to. Great video!

    So one huge suggestion I would have is on how to explain the setup of getting your car underneath the ball. I was a diamond player when I started learning flip reset shots and in a matter of 3 hours I was consistently hitting them because I took a logical approach and analyzed the path of the ball. The absolute easiest way to get better at flip resets is to think of when the ball is falling back down, where the top of the arc is and aim for that point or a hair after. It's because then the ball is falling as you are rising and just thinking about both speeds at once makes it a ton easier and quicker to learn. I cant stress that enough, literally in a total of 5 hours I was where you were at in the 50s and it's simply because I was concentrating on pathing and that honestly became second nature very quickly. The mechanic of watching the arc is not one talked about anywhere but is such a huge aspect to getting better at rocket league.

    I’ve never found myself braking before I hit the ball. I just boost into the ball and then stop boosting to slow myself down. This acts like a brake due to the pace but it balances both high and distance without losing any momentum, making the flip reset really easy to set up. Personally, the brake method makes it seem pretty unreliable due to the awkwardness of the slight but sudden pause and change if momentum👍

    I don't know about pc users but on ps4 I find a deadzone of around 0.15 helps me to be way more consistent at doing things like flip resets, mustys and air stalls. Good work, thanks! In my opinion the setup and getting the flip is the easiest part of flip resets. The hardest part is to use the actual flip and I haven't seen anyone on youtube actually talking about the flip. Would be great to see different flip techniques (I noticed you often use backflip) and the perfect flip-reset-flick. The problem is many times I get flip reset and when I flip in the ball the movement is so predictable and weak, so it would have higher scoring chances if I would have just boomed the ball on net or went for a simple airdribble or double touch.

    I feel like what really has to be stressed a bit more is that it's super important to be able to control the car flying backwards. That's (at least for me) not a skill that perfected itsself just by playing, but it's fairly easy to learn by just grinding freeplay or some custom maps.
    It would be so much easier to get a flip reset if you just had to touch the ball with the upper side of the car because the approach would just be to fly at it normally and then lean forward. Flying backward isn't any harder though in principle, it just isn't sth. people do alot ingame.
