- It's been 45 years since the broadcast premiere of MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM.
In that time, the "RX-78-2 Gundam" mobile suit created by the mechanics of the Universal Century has passed through the filter of our reality to appear as the ultimate in hi-spec GUNPLA.
Longing for and pursuit of the "Real"
The "RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam" released in July, 2010 was developed as a compressed 1/144 model of the "real" 1/1 scale Gundam that stood, at the time, in Odaiba. Now, 14 years later,
the creators will apply the history, technical expertise and unchanging feelings toward Gundam built up over years.
Their efforts will culminate once again in an ultra-realistic recreation of the Gundam form from a perspective that is only possible today.

it's still mini master grade, since latest MGs are also having lots of improvements.
I love how theyve become self-aware with the promotion and the showcase of its features. back then it was moreso "the realistic proportions and humanlike movements have been successfully replicated!" now its more "yeah this helps keep the parts from falling off and shit. this one locks too so it wouldnt be loose"
It also means they’re listening to the fans to some degree, which I can always appreciate.
I just finished yesterday the og RG and dear god those skirts are a nightmare. Only took them 14 years XD
@@IronicSonics I heard if you tighten the ball joints on the skirts, it’ll make them a bit better. Haven’t tested it yet though. I might also try deepening the socket at some point.
I love the music and sound effects in this video. It makes it feel like you’re not just going to build another Gunpla, you’re building the legendary machine that won the One Year War. I’m excited!
Man, RG is evolving so much the mechanisms look like they can be implemented in future robotics engineering projects. Gunpla wa hontoni saiko desu!

If your PGU means "remake old kit with new technology" then yes, it's kinds same, but if you mean "RX-78 PGU ver." then no, are you fking blind?
Nope. The original RG was designed keeping in mind, the shared inner frame concept of early RG, which turned out to be one of RGs biggest design flaws. Bandai's taken everything they learned over the years, went back to the drawing board and completely redesigned this kit from the ground up, to drastically improve the quality. Lets hope they follow this up with a Zaku II 2.0. and then maybe a proper Sinanju.

Agreed. But I also want them to give some other suits their due first. The Barbatos needs an RG, so does G-self,Turn A, ZZ, Alex etc.
I would love to see more non gundams too. Another zaku would be priority 1. I know it would be silly but a Leo would be awesome lol a gouf is a must, as is schwarzette

My pre-order was in the moment I physically could.
Hope to see more of this new technology in both future 2.0 (likely the Zaku, the Zeta, the Freedoms and the Wing Zero are on the priority list) and completely new additions in the RG lineup (F91, Double X, Turn A, G-Self, Barbatos, Master Gundam, Wing Zero TV and Narrative are some of my wishes...)
If we get the DX before the X I'll be so sad.

seeing the G-Self would be a real treat. Bandai seems to want to pretend Reco G and AGE don't exist unless it's to cannibalize the old runners for some build fighter kits.

@@bolthesorcerer3570 This year is cursed tbh. Fat, overfed baby SEED's entire feature film and accompanying High Grade subline pretty much locks out Reco G, G Gundam, OR Build Fighters Try from anything substantial to commemorate their anniversaries.
Holy SHITT!! THAT was impressive. To think that GunPla has come soo far, and that the technology to make them more lifelike and posable is amazing. And, of course, where better to begin than with the RX-78-2. Then the design specs can be implemented into future RG releases hopefully.
Yeah, the RX-78-2 is a benchmark, a good kit to do a demonstration. If you start with something completely different, people can't compare.

Bought this for RM160 thru shopee link. Just finish the leg and wraist inner frame.
Since I was a child I want to start in the model kit world. I live in a 3rd world country so it was pretty expensive to have one of these. But now, this year I started working as an engineer. I started whit the basic RX 78 2 of 10 dollar and now that I wanted to buy the RG. A new one was released :D

Basically, the updated mechanics are from what we've seen in MG Wing kits.

nice to see they took every measure to ensure the stability of the kit and not make us live through the hell of posing RG rx 78 2
I love what they have done to improve the RX-78-2 from the previews version, but what i love the most is the inner Frame that it actually has mass and it looks more like a robot and not like the traditional old inner frame. No matter how many new gundams they introduce, their is something about the RX-78-2 that brings a presences and smiles to everyone.
I wish they would do something like this to Mazinger Z, that would be cool.
Hopefully, they apply this design to a possible RG Zeta 2.0 in the future.

To be honest, rather than make other variation of RX 78 in RG format, I want bandai renew/ refresh other HG mobile suit, especially zeon mobile with new engineering.

Finally! Now please launch a new rg unicorn with this build system. The old pre-molded frame and white plastic parts are just really bad, and it keeps broken every time I touch it.
Why not work on 2.0 of other MG kits that really need it? I know Bandai won’t read this comment but it’s so disappointing to see yet another RX78 or another Freedom Gundam when the EZ8 is in dire need of an update. I don’t want 50 versions of the RX78, I want more models that aren’t available yet like the MG versions of the final mobile suits of Gundam 00 or the MG Riborns

The locking mechanism is awesome, but i break many action base stand forgotten to unlock them🤣.
since the first time I built the master grade Impulse gundam, iv'e always cursed that damn core splendor. I hated that gimmick so much, and wanted nothing more than a kit that ignored it entirely. Not even the High Grade revive was safe from it. This gives me hope that one day i can finally own a version of that kit that can work in spite of it.
