      +Rusty Nail Thanks. This was a first for me also. If you find a lock commercially available in the US with little trap pins like this, please let me know. I don't know of any.

      +Aurélien Foutoyet Thanks. Same here... I'd read about them, but never seen them in the wild. The odd thing is that the maker does not seem to advertise this feature. It only says that it is highly bump resistant (which is definitely true).

    excellent video, interesting trap pins, so this means that you have to repick chambers 2-5 to fully rotate lock. well done!

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 лет назад

      +tonyholt90 Thanks, and doing a full rotation would be a pain. I tried a plug flipper/spinner to pass the trap pins, but no luck.

    Great pick, amazing how much you needed to counter rotate to get past the deep cut trap spools!!

    Hi Harry, Interesting lock, plus the trap pins. Some trap pins in locks can be beat by very tightly packing dental floss into a picked keyway ..... but I like your method a lot better! Regards, Brian.

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 лет назад

      +Brian Hignett Thanks. I was thinking along those lines. I did not consider dental floss though. I was thinking about stuffing pieces of foam ear plugs (the kind that you roll up, then they expand in your ear) into the keyway. Luckily, the trap pins could be addressed by picking, or I'm not sure what I would have done.

      +LockPickingLawyer Hi Harry, There is a Chicago wafer cam lock we see occasionally, with a threaded tail piece that requires many many turns to unlock. It will relock every quarter turn when picking. Wet string is also effective, when packed in tight between relocks.Regards, Brian.

      Brian Hignett Another good idea. Thanks.

      Seems that a piece of bread stuffed in would work as well. I've used bread to push out a pilot bearing. It can be quite dense but soft and easy to move it.

    0:48 wait im not getting this, wouldnt a driver pin also fall in a notch in the core when using the key? how would a normal key prevent that from happening?

      @lockpickinglawyer  8 лет назад +4

      +tom brax Take a look at my videos #113 (Allgood/Gege pExtra), #73 (EVVA DPI), and #58 (EVVA DPS) for examples of locks with trap pins like this. They all involve a mechanism triggered by the key that blocks a hole in the core.

    Great picking and interesting lock as per usual.
    Thanks for sharing 👍👍😘🍻🔓
    I have a question.....
    Once picked would it be possible to use a plug spinner to rotate the lock in the opposite direction without engaging the trap pins??

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 лет назад +2

      +Pick Beard Thanks. I did try a spinner, but no luck. My theory is that with the tiny trap and the large key pin hole, it just wasn't doable.

    Hi. Great video as usual. Just one question. As a locksmith I have come across this lock in the UK and had to drill it out after getting stuck on the trap pins. So I took it home and have been trying to pick it ever since. As obviously the internal side is still ok. So it's picked but stuck on the trap pins now. What are you actually doing to the trap pins and what type of pick is best?
    Thanks, D.

    Probably too late to expect an answer, and it’s a similar question to one I see on a lot of your picks. If you didn’t know the trap pins were there, would it have stumped an average picker? Same question for an LPL-level picker. Or can a skilled picker “feel” the traps and work out how many there are and on which pins?

    What a shame they didn't put spools in the main pin stacks.

    Why wouldn't every company put trap pins in? Those are SO useful and it must not add much cost.

    I don't know how far the venn diagram overlaps between viewers here and viewers of the ruclips.net/user/LoftyPursuits channel, but the voice is so similarly soothing. Also, I find myself watching hours of someone doing something I had no idea how to do, so there's that. Thanks for all your videos!

  • @therapyseshpod

    Does this mean the same could be done with the kwikset you modified with the traps? In that video you said once the traps are in you’d have to take it apart from the inside to get it open.

    Did You come by any lock that have trap pins that permanently seize/lock lock?

      Royal Guardian comes to mind immediately, but there are others.

  • @Johnyrocket70

    ?" if you pick it, then slide a pick upside down can you hold up trap pins and keep turning? or use a plug spinner. is that 2 challenges lol

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  8 лет назад +1

      +JB Nope, that will not work unless all the key pins were the same length (i.e., the worse bitting in the world) :-P

    Do many locks have trap pins?
