Aaah I love hoges, forever wishing tv was still this good with great shows like these! Always love the music with perce, gives these skits so much more character
Sadly the Australians got all excited about the flashy American internet and caused all the Australian television programs to stop being made .unfortunately they won't come back now
Haven't seen this for years, in fact not since it first aired in the 70's........ahhh memories......funny thing , i only came looking for this to show the partner, as she hadn't seen it, and i just finished watching the 1973 film The Sting with Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Robert Shaw, Ray Walston, Charles Durning, Eileen Brennan and a host more great actors......the theme music to it is Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer", and hearing that, made me think of Hoges at his stupid best, when simple and funny was KING, and the word F*** wasn't required to get a laugh. Much better piece of music than " Yakkity Sax", as was used by the Benny Hill Show
Went to the Pub for the Xmas Raffles. The guy calling the Raffles was so funny. He was Irish and us Aussie's thought he was fantastic just so funny ! Someone would you believe complained cause they said he was being politically incorrect and he couldn't call the Raffles the next week & they got some boring old fella to do it. What is the world coming too? And if you don't like the pub scene WTF are you doing there ruining it for everyone else? Go home and have a Shandie in your boring lounge room
The music is known as the 'Maple leaf rag' and I think it is 1920's jazz. It is very hard to get this version of the song as people tend to play it very fast and it looses it's melody. This clip is the only place I can find this version which I think is the best.
Yes the Entertainer, by Scott Joplin, featured of course in the movie "The Sting" starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Cole Train is right saying it is often played too fast. The original music, in the composers own writing says "Ragtime must never be played fast"
Sure I watched this back in the 80's, it was prime time viewing. I was only a kid but it was hilarious
these are 20 years before i was even born but would rather watch these than the shit thats on tv these days.love this humour paul hogan is a legend

@ColeTrain9984 Hmm are you sure? I've played Maple Leaf Rag on the piano, and it doesn't sound like this. Sure you don't mean The Entertainer?
he must be really pissed, the bottle is empty from the start...
