My dog Tessie also has a torn ACL and is getting her surgery in October! She is also about 44lbs and is 8 years old. I am scared and nervous but I know it’s needed to give her a quality of life so we are working on getting a few more pounds off her to help with healing per Vet recommendations. Do you have any post op advice to help either her healing or my anxiety 😬 ❤ And congratulations!!!
Omg yes, so boba is 7 and about 43 pounds so very similar!! I was super anxious going into it but it turned out to be a super smooth surgery and recovery hasn’t been too bad at all. The first few days were rough, but now he’s getting up and semi normal. You do have to leash them every time they go out so they don’t run around, and no jumping on the couch, zoomies, or going upstairs. So they get really bored and frustrated 😭 we’re only 3 weeks in to recovery and apparently it takes 8 weeks so I’m not looking forward to that because Boba is so over not being able to do anything at this point. If your able to get a “lick sleeve” so they don’t have to wear a cone that makes it a lot easier and we also bought a sling that goes under his belly for when we had trouble lifting himself the first few days. Good luck to your pup!! It will be so worth it once it’s done!
