This makes me so happy that you; felt so welcome, finally learned warhammer, had fun, and also learnt that meta chasing is not the way to go. Yes! Maximum fun is the best choice when picking an army. The dog adoption analogy is perfect. Hope you enjoyed playing with Simons blood angels. I painted them 😅
My son and I just got into 40k thanks to Space Marine 2. We love it for completely different reasons. My son loves the army building, and actual game play side of the hobby. Whereas I love the art and lore side of it all. Its cool that you got to experience the game side of things for first time in such a fun setting and for a good cause!
Loved the vid! The lore and the aesthetics of the models for the Dark Eldar (Drukhari) are what drew me to them all those years ago. Glad you enjoyed and learnt so much from your first 40K game.
Hi Alex & welcome to the warhammer community, I've been enjoying the hobby since the rogue trader days, I love the line " spend your entire mortgage for the month " we've all done that!. And forget the haters, there are loads of clubs out there like ours, Tabletop Templars Gaming Club in wigan, who welcome new people who are embracing their newly found nerd side for the first time, and regardless if you have the best army, you're dice will alway's betray you. I wish the best on you journey in to 40k and look forward to more videos.
So glad to hear you had a positive experience with your first foray into playing 40k. Also, kudos for playing your first game at Warhammer World! I imagine that added to the anxiety a bit! On the subject of negative/toxic members of the community, I think the very same people who act that way towards others in the hobby would absolutely be too scared to do it in person. Its easy when you can hide behind a keyboard. I look forward to hearing stories of your victories in the future!
Good advice! West Midlands is a bit big but the two stand outs for me are, boards in brum. Really friendly store and owner..! (North Birmingham) Cheltenham has the Cheltenham warchiefs who play on a Monday night! I’m doing a commission for blood angels at the moment, I used to love painting red…… -.-
I have a an odd feeling that in 5 months if keep doing this you are gonna have a lot of views. Keep going but you should definitely get your first army. My gf just bought hers 3000 points of battle sisters lol a month ago and has no plastic shame. So proud of her lol she also works 120 hours every two weeks so her dedication to learning this game is amazing! Super supportive of your channel! Get your glow up!
One thing I struggle with as a new player is keeping up with rule changes. I buy the book, just to get to a game and someone mentioned the rule has changed/updated. If you have time, it could be interesting to hear your take on how you would stay up to date or just a way to be sure I'm following the latest version of the rules
It's definitely a barrier for new players, thankfully the app is kept up to date (although the -1 CP rule took a while) so you at least have a single, reliable source to check against
Boards and Swords in Derby Alex, a really cool little venue and everyone's dead friendly. I'm pretty new to playing 40k but have been painting for a couple of years. I've only played 3 games and am very much still asking daft questions... probably doesnt help that I chose Tyranids so have 50+ models on the board most of the time 😅
🟣 I am so glad you enjoyed our event, and we hope to watch your next hobby year leading to a return visit from both you and Clare at next year's event. Your good advice here "play 40K for the reasons that appeal to you (no one else)", is spot on. 🤓 ... ... Simon

Her voice is so beautiful. Would love if she did some audiobooks for 40k
Great to meet you at WHW! Necrons are the best army 🤖
You spelled 'Eldar' incorrectly there mate.

Rididng the trend wave and not forgetting to redirect people to blue website. I hope these people does not count towards the "true" fanbase.
Why you lying? There’s no link to any ‘blue website’
hopefully the fanbase isn't full of incels like you
