@@lola2829 They don't hunt humans. That is very clear with all the info we have. A starving shark would? Probably. But not only a Shark, any meat eater with a proper size would. We are not on the diet of sea predators. We never shared those ecosystems with them (just few hundreds of years and not really in the water). In the other hand we evolved from african hominids and we allways have been in the same areas than those big cats. We have been during millions or at least thousands (in the last territories we arrived) of years in the mainland, with all those animales. Big cats, crocs, bears, no matter which one. Even the herbivores are much more dangerous. I'm thinking in hippos. Or deers, that kill arround 100 people each year only in US, for example. Agreed. I was in New England swimming and lifeguards told us to get out of water because gw sharks were feeding on the seals. I couldn’t believe I was in water with them. Needless to say that was the first and last time. I wade in the water and that’s it.
First, these are juvenile great whites, they don’t feed on mammals just yet until they reach about 10 feet. So these interactions are just curiosity. Second, any predatory animal species instinctively understands the size of the prey they can/prefer to feed on. I understand marine biologists are trying to mend the often terrifying reputation of these apex predators, but the reality is, if a mature great white is hungry, and it senses edible prey (yes, humans too) who’s unaware of the shark’s presence (they prefer sneak attacks to avoid injury), then it will bite and consume a human. The reason most incidents don’t result in full consumption is because after the initial attack, they circle, waiting for the prey to weaken and bleed out (avoiding injury). In this time, unlike seals, etc, humans often get rescued and brought to shore.

Fantastic footage MalibuArtist! Great to show the shark had zero interest in that surfer. Interesting stuff with the pollution there as well. We know sharks are highly curious animals, and will investigate floating debris like this. It's also why we believe sharks often get entangled in certain types of debris, their curious nature will bring them in close contact with it, for example nets/plastic debris. Fortunately these two debris items in the video don't pose much risk from an entanglement perspective, but its a great demonstration of how sharks can eventually become entangled in pollution!
I’ve always been interested in sharks and their behavior. Your videos are breathtaking and so eye opening! Thank you for all of your beautiful footage of these amazing creatures.

Your videos never cease to amaze me!! Wow imagine a whole new type of life guard “role” that could utilize drones to scan for sharks and maybe even rip currents at public beaches. I love your content man thank you!
It almost beggars belief that drones are NOT already being utilised in this way across the world by government, councils, lifeguards for better protection , safety and prevention of would be attacks and unwanted interaction between shark/s and swimmer/s !! Privacy wouldn't be an issue because the drone/s are only getting a very high up overall water shot of swimmers and NOT anything up close and/or personal !! I know personally that if I had a drone to keep watch I would absolutely learn/go surfing and swim regularly at the beach !! Thank you for what you do! And thanks for being an awesome Malibu area community member and flying the drone during the children's camp. You're a special guy!💞
Truly spectacular! Unbelievable, really. Two sharks - one takes interest in a cardboard Pepsi box, the other does not. Whoa! How have I not heard about this? Why are the news outlets not covering this???
Ah finally, what I was waiting for you to capture, a true close shark encounter with a human with no test bite. That was your first one but probably not his :D
A Shark-Warning alarm with Flashing White LED's on top of the drone is such a brilliant & novel idea. The operator can choose to activate the audio, the visual, or they can opt to activate both warnings simultaneously. Imagine every popular beach having its own drone combing the busy surf from Dawn til dusk, monitoring the nearby sharks without causing a panic. This type of monitoring would help beach-goers and surfers to better understand this predatory animal in the common places of cohabitation. Drones will forever change human/shark interaction the same way that online-purchasing has evolved the concept of "shopping." It seems so ironic that the key to understanding the complex nuances of life beneath the water would come from just above the waves... Great video!
That is a phenomenal idea. I pray they get back to you on the shark warning system on the drones! Or if you could some how put a mic loud enough for them to hear but light enough to still fly you could patent it!
Beautiful to watch and yet I can't think of anything more dark and sinister than a lurking Great White. Especially one that has just literally passed within feet of someone who was completely unaware of its presence. Goosebumps!
I don't think we will understand the positive effects these videos will have on not just Great Whites, but all sharks around the world for a very long time. With that said, I truly believe these videos will be the foundation to the change of perspective on sharks we will see going forward. Thank you so much.

I just want to say thank you for all of your wonderful footage! I lived on Galveston Island for a few years, and found a few shark teeth along the shore, which led to a total fascination with these animals your work is just amazing!
These videos are amazing! I have heard it said that if you ever swim in the ocean, you have likely been with 10 yards of a shark. I never believed it, but I certainly do now! It makes me nervous, but at the same time, your videos show that just because there is a shark it does not mean you will be attacked. They are not killing machines. Very educational.
Absolutely enjoy your episodes Even though I'm scared of Sharks you make it so engaging and your voice is like listening to a meditation CD Thankyou so much for your shows Love Australia
Your channel is amazing, I'm so glad I found it! You've earned my subscription for sure! Sharks are misunderstood creatures. They aren't mindless psychopathic killers. Obviously, we should always respect what they are capable of but they really are beautiful creatures. I never thought humans interacted nearly as much with sharks as your footage shows. We are conditioned to believe that when you see a shark, it's coming to attack you and that's far from the truth. Obviously, you shouldn't just hang around in waters with a great white but your footage shows me to not panic. Panicking could perhaps draw more attention to yourself and could even possibly startle or provoke the shark. Stay calm, and start making your way back to the shore while keeping an eye out. You're doing a great service to all beach and ocean lovers, the more we learn about these guys the safer things will be, not just for humans but for the sharks themselves as well. People should always remember that the ocean is the sharks home, respect them and their home!
Omg! So cool. As with all of your videos. I loved sharks since I was a kid and would swim fearlessly up and down the coast here. You bring back so many wonderful memories. Thank you

Great idea about a drone that could warn surfers and swimmers. I've been surfing for over 50 years and it makes me wonder how many close encounters I've been oblivious to. Great vids by the way.
That's a brilliant idea!!! I CAN NOT believe ALL beaches are NOT interested??? Mind blown literally! I live in Jacksonville Beach & see them all the time from shore. I'm actually about to get my 1st drone & am super excited! Can not wait! But if my kids were little, (grown & off to college yay) I would not even take them to a beach without these... My biggest fear as a parent but had no fear at all myself until I had kids... I would love to sell these to people! This is Amazing! What a genius idea! Thank You!
A drone with a warning system but also a drone that can radio when animals are stuck in fishing line or gill nets-also a way to seek out places to clean the oceans-such a great practical option for to fix several problems.
Wonderful video! Amazing to see how close to shore (in the wave line) sharks go (e.g. the younger shark w the box)... It seems that when the larger shark noticed the surfer, the fact the surfer was sitting up rather than laying down and paddling with his legs confirms what we know - it's not a mindless predator.
Given how little interest the shark seems to show the humans, what really does trigger a shark attack? Must be pure bad luck. The shark must be like, “that doesn’t look like food, but I’m really hungry now....”
I'm in awe with your footage. I've enjoyed learning abou sharks since I was a kid watching Jacque Cousteau. But this? I've never seen anything like these drone footages.

Without any fear? Can't be that trusting when swimming near/with sharks. Esp GWs. They. Can turn so fast. I always say... Don't get to. Comfortable in the water. There's always that one hiding and lurking watching you... Don't drop ur guard..
@@SharkWhisper00 I agree with you we can’t predict these animals totally. we spear so yes we are so aware and on guard all time. I respect and will not treat lightly, but absolutely no fear because I told myself not to. Fear will trigger their hunter instinct we are telling them we are prey. No. We need to tell them we are hunter and stand our ground. That’s the only way we can survive.
@@SharkWhisper00 I was you for 37 years. Now I dive and hunt every week at sea.
it’s so cool seeing how these sharks interact and investigate foreign objects, such fascinating creatures.
Ok that encounter with the surfer definitely made me nervous. That shark was huge! Guess he was just curious! I still can't believe how beautiful and peaceful your footage makes these animals look. I hope you can get that warning system drone!💖
What a fantastic job you are doing greetings from Cape Town, South Africa
Your respect and commitment to documenting these sharks is inspiring.
I am not surprised the surfers stayed. I have to believe they are all aware of the dangers that lurk below them but their love of the ocean and surfing overrides any fear. Great video!
Great Premiere! Happy that I caught it live 🤩
Excellent footage! Your work is invaluable for the relationship between man and nature. Keep up the great work!
I love the enthusiasm in your voice over. Never dramatic to paint sharks as bad guys, just pure and utter beauty. Thank you for loving these beauties
Live in Seal Beach & young WS are common. Thanks for stunning vlog of misunderstood fish. They are not mindless killers. 🦈
I’ve always been interested in sharks and their behavior. Your videos are breathtaking and so eye opening!
Thank you for all of your beautiful footage of these amazing creatures.
Love these videos!!! Can't wait to see this.
@A IM it is everywhere. Wherever he goes there are sharks because it's the ocean and the ocean is filled with sharks.
You know being in the UK, in the North, I don’t visit many beaches. Watching your videos scare the shit out of me 🙀 but I am totally fascinated by the sharks! Love, love, love your videos, keep posting, you’re amazing 🤩
Best to stay safe. I know GW aren't in the seas up North. You know that as well. Problem is, has anyone told the bloody sharks that.
@@peterhall728 yep, I know exactly what you mean. They turn up wherever they want, whenever they want 🙀 anyways, I’m more of a sit and watch type of person... lol
@@debbielindsay6492 very wise. I once encountered a quite angry Squirrel. Put me off Mother Nature for good tbh.
@@peterhall728 hahahaha, hilarious!!
You are one of my favorite people on RUclips. Keep on bringing awareness . I have been diving with every shark apart from The Great White, I'm sure one day I will. You are so good in keeping the balance with every single world you say. Yes they are predators, yet we know so little about them, they are amazing beautiful creatures. I am so thankful for what you are doing.
Yet again another amazing video, it's so refreshing to see this take on sharks.
THANK YOU for showing the animals as just animals . Not mindless killers! Beautiful!
Loving the videos! Your voice is soothing! ❤
Oh thank you so much!
I love seeing your videos. We share the ocean closer than we realize :)
Amazing footage!
You do such an amazing job!
I think you will remain in the history of shark study!
Thank you!
The drone is a fantastic idea! If you don’t hear back maybe contact other companies? I love you videos! 🦈
Amazing footage!. Loved how you caught the youngster learning and how the larger animal just proves they are not the mindless killers they are made out to be.
Your videos never cease to amaze me!! Wow imagine a whole new type of life guard “role” that could utilize drones to scan for sharks and maybe even rip currents at public beaches. I love your content man thank you!
I’ve thought about life guards doing that too! Would be an efficient safety measure.
( JAWS has pretty much kept me out of the water because I was so traumatized by it when I was a child !!) I hope they start using these contraptions, lol , sooner rather than later !! Cheers from Brissie, Oz 👍🇦🇺
Lifeguards in Australia are already using drones to scan for sharks!
It would keep alot of people out of the water if they saw the footage. I wonder if it would be better if they didn't know ?
@Julie Cook ur chances from dying in ur car are far greater then a shark attack along with many other things, but if jaws is scary then so be it
I enjoy your videos so much, they are beautiful and so interesting. Thank you 😊
Your voice is so soothing...like an autumn wind on a fall day...its so calm..it relaxes me after a loud day at my bar.
Your videos are so calming 🥺
Your best video ever. I absolutely believe you should submit this for short film at film festivals around you. This is a triumph of editing and narration. Please consider it. This deserves wide distribution.
Thank you for what you do! And thanks for being an awesome Malibu area community member and flying the drone during the children's camp. You're a special guy!💞
I really appreciate you sharing your feelings of respect, admiration and anxiety as existing at the same time.
Is there some award you can get for this video? I mean, all of them actually but THIS one! Thank you. Just, Thank You.
Truly spectacular! Unbelievable, really. Two sharks - one takes interest in a cardboard Pepsi box, the other does not. Whoa! How have I not heard about this? Why are the news outlets not covering this???
Your work is amazing, thanks for sharing!
Drones will forever change human/shark interaction the same way that online-purchasing has evolved the concept of "shopping."
It seems so ironic that the key to understanding the complex nuances of life beneath the water would come from just above the waves...
Great video!
That is a phenomenal idea. I pray they get back to you on the shark warning system on the drones! Or if you could some how put a mic loud enough for them to hear but light enough to still fly you could patent it!
I am so looking forward to another TheMalibuArtist feature documentary video!
The youngster is getting schooled as the older shark knew it wasn't valuable as a food prey. Its fascinating. So glad I found you!
Wow, probably best the surfer didn't see the shark, amazing footage
Couldn't you have a sign on your drone. "If i'm within 10 feet of you there's a shark in the area."
He has a sticker on it saying something of that nature
Beautiful to watch and yet I can't think of anything more dark and sinister than a lurking Great White. Especially one that has just literally passed within feet of someone who was completely unaware of its presence. Goosebumps!
Words fail me when watching your videos. You are just so incredible. Truly.
Great videos, and a great voice at the same time. 🎈
You should maybe contact Mark Rober, to help you equip your drone with a warning system and make a youtube collab about it.
Love it!!
I don't think we will understand the positive effects these videos will have on not just Great Whites, but all sharks around the world for a very long time. With that said, I truly believe these videos will be the foundation to the change of perspective on sharks we will see going forward. Thank you so much.
I really like your narrations, you can tell you are very passionate about what you do. I also find it interesting seeing the smaller sharks pay so much attention to simple objects floating, very good analysis my friend. blessings
I do hope the drone/warning system works out. It would be very helpful.
Your work is awesome. Its fascinating to watch the footage you capture and I am convinced you make an important contribution to changing the human perception of sharks to a more positive one. Thanks, you deserve all the success with this!
We just stayed at a beach house on Mission Beach. I could have sworn that I saw a big body of something in one of the waves. I thought it could've been a shark. My husband didn't think so, but now I do. They're much closer than we believe. I love your work.
I just want to say thank you for all of your wonderful footage! I lived on Galveston Island for a few years, and found a few shark teeth along the shore, which led to a total fascination with these animals your work is just amazing!
To see this footage makes me loose my littlr fear of sharks. You are really showing how often those encounters happen without sharks attacking humans.
What a great idea regarding the warning system on drones! These videos are so relaxing and informative. Love your channel !!!
Wow. Every public beach should have a drone out monitoring sharks! Great work
I hope you are writing up and publishing your observations also. You deserve academic recognition for your work IMO
Absolutely enjoy your episodes
Even though I'm scared of Sharks you make it so engaging and your voice is like listening to a meditation CD
Thankyou so much for your shows
Love Australia
your videos do so much to show the real nature of white sharks. thanks for that!
Thank you
ADAS(Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) needs to be attached to the surfboard. For avoiding sharks.
I'm in the ocean frequently... kayaking, body surfing, open water swimming, spearfishing... on the coast of California, I've never seen a shark, not once... but your videos are making me realize they are there, and probably frequently. I have to admit this spooks me a bit... I'll be watching more closely.
If you embarked on this shark warning journey, I’m sure it would be huge! I swim, but I’m terribly frightened of sharks. Just knowing someone was watching out for sharks is a real game changer. Beautiful video!
„he said he never saw the shark“ just shows how well they can camouflage
you are my favorite channel! i show your videos to everyone i know! i love sharks so much and you make me fall more in love with them. it is so interesting to see that these sharks have been so close to me my whole life while i’ve grown up at so cal beaches. thank you for providing this amazing content and perspective
Wow, thank you!
I'm big fan of The Malibu Artist. Love the commentary on your videos. Great Job. Love all the majestic creatures in the ocean.
Thank you for the video, I am very amazed at the behavior of the shark and have learned a lot in the videos I have seen from you about sharks ... Thank you from Germany
I love your videos. You are helping to expand our knowledge of shark behavior.
I love sharks. You made my day, just watching you footage of sharks just being theirselves. Thanks 😊
This activity of yours, and your attitude, are wonderful, man.
Love the videos, keep em coming!
Amazing footage, thank you!
Given how little interest the shark seems to show the humans, what really does trigger a shark attack? Must be pure bad luck. The shark must be like, “that doesn’t look like food, but I’m really hungry now....”
You're doing such great thing. You're definitely starting something no one has
I'm in awe with your footage. I've enjoyed learning abou sharks since I was a kid watching Jacque Cousteau. But this? I've never seen anything like these drone footages.
Great video! Very nice footage! Very interesting to watch GW behaviour. I admit my heart was beating quicker with the GW hanging around the paddle boarder. Lol.
