      @Miki Miyazaki John is more popular among serious armwrestlers. Devon cheats, John doesn’t. John wants to see who the better more skilled man us but Devon just wants the win so he can claim he’s the greatest. That’s why pros all over the world look up to John and only fanboys look up to Devon. The don’t care how devon wins.

    Well, the training a pro uses at his peak is maybe not the way to train in the beginning or intermediate state.
    Obviously Devon has some unique leverage advantages to win against much more muscular opponents.
    Imo, as most do not have this genetics, in the beginning getting some meat on the frame should be first priority before starting to get so specific.

    • @bobibufi1389

      Devon is a big passionate kid still looking for ideal system. I remember his one arm giant pumpkin system, then his every set to max system, then he spoke to some Russians at last Zloty and tried their 1-3 RiR (reps in reserve), then you have compound exercises vs. isolation vs. armwr. specific. After decades in the sport he is so close to his absolute achievable best that anything he does differently now brings truly negligible results. Plus even inferior system when done for many years will eventually get you to max. results. Not to mention genetic make-up, like Brzenk and minimum need for shenanigans outside table.
      Having said, for beginners connective tissue strength should be a priority imho.

      A small hand and wrist can still be very strong, dont be so worried about the actual size. Of course size is benificial but you got what you got. As far as strategy goes, depending on your leverages, you could go knuckles up and post high or if you have a really long forearm with a small hand and wrist, a low hand toproll is viable imo. As for training, theres loads of good excercises out there but in the hand I like to focus on the thumb and flat finger pressure.

    Not that I don’t agree that what Devon has done has worked for him, but I’m more of a fan of the way the stronger Arm Wrestlers train (Levan, Denis, Ermes, etc.) in that they constantly progress in the arm wrestling specific exercises and set some sort of PRs in those lifts over time in a strength cycle.
    I’d like to hear Devon and other elite arm wrestlers speak on their chosen modalities for recovery as well.

    • @brianbrennan5416
      @brianbrennan5416 2 года назад

      So do you believe all those heavy bicep curls and such are more effective then how Devon trains with these small all day lifts in a way. Not being sarcastic just wanted honest opinion as I train in a wrestling as well.

    • @DynomyteDewd91
      @DynomyteDewd91 2 года назад

      @@brianbrennan5416 I suppose it depends.
      I know there’s video on Devon’s channel where he did train with heavy Dumbell curl variations at one point years ago but had a small elbow injury at some point and doesn’t seem to train with any type of curling anymore. He’s probably laid down a base enough where he’s modified his training to what it is now and stays competitive with everyone under 300 lbs.
      Other competitive guys like Levan, Denis, Ermes, and Jerry Cadorette seem to utilize curl variations and have success with it.
      I would guess you should just see what exercises your body responds best to based on your limb lengths and body type.

    Devon is absolutely 100% right. This notion is pretty much the same thing as evolution.
    You don't just do your sets, or lift weights 3 times a week and think you can be good at armwrestling. Because it's a specific skill that requires specific movements that pretty much nearly all lifts do not have.
    Rest is important, but evolution doesn't work like that. If you want to really shock your body, want it to adapt, then you go and do your lifts whenever you want.
    Structure is NOT ideal unless your main goal is aesthetics.
    You have to throw your whole "but muscle recovery" philosophy out the window. If they haven't recovered, just lower the weight as needed and keep training.
    100%, your body just knows how to adapt to that amount of stress. And that is by growing, and growing, and growing.
    Stress your fast twitching fibers first by lifting as much as you can, take a few hours break, go back training and lower the weight and train the slow twitching muscle fibers.
    And just keep doing this without hurting the tendons. Be cautious, but consistent.
