Wow Jim.. Your now fully paid up model engineer. Absolutely awesome job done ..Top Man Jim. Your going to blow Anthony`s mind on this one. Lol I very surprized at the loco drive system only two axles drive .But it works great. One superb Model Jim .. Thank you for taking the time to film it. Regards Lord Al.
Hi Lord Al, Yeah it's an amazing model, had it just over 10 years now. Roco did make one other version the Br95. 71098 Thanks for watching 👍🏻 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃jim
Yes, the suethe smoke oil is much better and not as smelly as it used to be. I invested in a syringe not only to get the fluid where I wanted it but also to get 5ml accurate for the ESU unit. When I took one of our MTH models apart to fix the unit, I was crapping myself royally! Good work Jim.
Thanks , Yeah I am somes lazy when it comes to injecting the correct amount..I must do it properly now.. I did get a syringe and oil with the model 10 years ago fron Arcida models...man I cannot believe I've had this model that long...bonkers... Which Esu loco do you have? Many thanks for watching again. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃jim
Wow Jim How's things? Top job on fixing and cleaning.. You have patience of a Saint lol. That's a very nice steam loco very shick indeed. Take care Cheers Mark
Hiya again, Jim! A great walkthrough on what you did and needed to do on this loco to get it back to running and smoking properly. Stuff like this scares the crap out of me, but I am going to have to learn. I also have a fair amount of laziness, too- just motivating myself to sit down and do it. Thanks for another amazing and educational video! As always, all the best to you and that wonderful family.
Hi Anthony, Thanks, I thought I would do a vid on this model as there are no strip down vids on RUclips. It was scary at first with models in the past especially without instructions explaining... I think one of the hardest ones was the Roco digital steel coal wagon set. Thanks Anthony... 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
It looks very heavy and well engineered. You never seem to break things like I do when I am trying to get things open, particularly when there are no instructions.
Thanks Rob , it's a great model to work on as it breaks down and rebuilds very nicely.. Just have to take my time on stuff like this and do the work in sections at a time.. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃jim
Saludos.
As usual, great job on maintaining your fleet. Not sure if you heard the motor on your drive by at the end of your video but the motor for the smoke chuff sounds a bit rough! May it might be a good idea to have a spare motor on hand for when that motor decides to give up. Great video.
Hi Thanks, unfortunately that sound is normal on this model, the decoder sound was turned down so the motor fan sounds louder. I was looking at getting a quiter sounding motor for the fan at some point if available. Thanks for watching jim. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Hi Eric, interesting question, Not sure but it would be nice to try or get a Zimo programmer. It runs very nice and certain cv's can be adjusted to improve ultra slow crawing speed.. Thanks for watching . 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃jim
Hi. How can I activate the smoke system in DCC?. I bought a used one that is clean but the smoke fan does not work, everything in clean inside the smoke unit.
@@mariano5417 Mine has developed a similar problem where the smoke stops working for a few seconds then starts again this works in tandem with the loco lighting which go's out for a few seconds. Not sure if it was the chip so I shaped out the chip and the same happened so its a interior wireing or electronic part problem on the control of the smoke fan . The loco works fine without the smoke enabled.
you are a brave man working on such a fine model. Thank you very much for a fully comprehensive strip-down / rebuild
@@ronthomas1196 Thanks Ron, this was trial and error as not much information is given by Roco to take the boiler apart.. 👍🏻
excellent video
Great job Jim 👍

Trix BR233 22402 and the new Hornby black 5 use cold steam which uses distilled water in a Piezo atomizer unit to avoid the mess of oil!
Hi , yeah there's new tech now
Like the Trix Marklin Tiger maintenance Ludmilla loco that uses a similar process with water..

Nice video Jim. Does the smoke also come beneath the pistons near front pilot truck??
Hi MIhir ,Yes it does..
@@hovermotion how is it connected to the main smoke unit?
@@padhyemihir I did see small holes on the last lower running gear strip down I did , I did not do a vid on that last time , I wish I had now..
Hi Jim,
Noticed yours has a different model number to mine (70191) , are there differences in the actual models
Alan
Hi Alan , there are slight differences as there are three versions of this model.

Good advice.
One of the problems was using water based fluid for a few years in the past and that did not help.

I found that both the smoke systems i bought only lasted a short time ...
Yeah Dave same as on the slot in gens they are very tempermental.
The slot in gens need to be controlled with the decoder so it's never burns out ..
very interesting report
will you replace the decoder with an ESU , V5 ?
to adjust the CV more easily

Hi. How can I activate the smoke system in DCC?. I bought a used one that is clean but the smoke fan does not work, everything in clean inside the smoke unit.
It probably a dry contact on the motor contact for the smoke gen blower..
It's a very complex model.
Hope you can solve it.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I fixed it.
@@mariano5417 cool ,was the problem a contact or a software dcc chip problem .
Program only, but I can't set F2 toggle for continuous smoke, it works only when I keep it pressing.
