Getting consistent ollies takes a really long time and you're definitely on the right track. In addition to the advice other people are giving I'd say try doing them while rolling, the forward momentum will make it easier to kick out your front foot. In fact I'd say any time you learn a new trick it's better to do it rolling if you can.
Some upper body tips for ollies while rolling: keep your shoulders in line with the board, that will prevent you from turning frontside or backside. And you want to be pretty squared up and keep your weight pretty even on both feet; if you lean back too much it's harder to get a good flick with your front foot and if you're too far forward you won't get good pop. Also, sometimes just looking at tricks being done in slow motion can be a huuuuge help. Good luck!

I know many others have chimed in but I agree that the biggest problem seems to be that you don’t slide your front foot very much, and sometimes not at all. Popping is important yes but sliding your front foot is what pulls the board upwards to gain height and then it levels out. So really focus on that slide with your front foot. Even tho you aren’t jumping very high you will still get an Ollie at least like 8” off the ground if you get that slide down right. Keep going!!

You have the right idea. You have the initial motion down: pop, lift, slide, and catch. What is probably missing is after you pop you have to also lift with the board, specifically your legs for now.
To get used to that motion, on flat ground practice jumping, as you are in the middle of jumping lift your legs up but tuck them into your body, almost like squatting in midair. That motion will allow the board to travel higher. You can even do this to achieve higher Ollies but for now just get used to the movement.
I would also lift the back leg a little more, it’s a pop motion and immediately release so the board can lift. I would say you are most of the way there.

I really appreciate all the advice I’ve received!! I’m learning a lot. Very grateful for RUclips. I know a lot of the old dogs didn’t get to have this to learn 😂 very grateful. Maybe others that are learning can learn from some of these comments too.

Apart from the front foot thing that a lot of people mentioned, try doing ollies while rolling instead of while standing still. When you're standing still on your board your balance is actually much worse than when you're rolling. Even if you are going extremely slow it makes a big difference.

One thing that helped me was making sure to get a full lift off the board before popping the tail. If you pop with weight still on the board, you'll just push the tail into the ground instead of popping the board up to your feet. Practice bending down and jumping off the board first to get used to that motion before adding the pop. Also, pulling your knees up will give the board more height from the pop without having to jump super high. Then finally, balancing solidly on your front leg will make it easier to balance without putting too much pressure on the back foot.

I think the main issue is that youre stomping down with your left foot immediately. Ideally, you want to use it to level out the board, then bring both feet down together. Try it without the board. Jump off your right foot, simultaneously kick your left foot up and to your left and your bring right foot up toward your body until its even with the left foot. Then bring both feet down together

You got a good foundation. Think about moving your front foot through the board. Like push it out away from your body. Sideways. If you watch your tries, it moves straight up which is good, but the leveling out portion is with the front foot. Level the board out by pushing it away from your body. Roll the ankle on the up portion of your jump, them push through the board away from your body, almost like a ninja kick.
Down, Up, Pop, slide (front foot up and through the nose)

Thank you for this in depth comment!!! The last 4 days when I was just spamming my attempts on live, looking back at that footage I realized I never (or very rarely) lifted my back foot 😂
I realize I was also trying to pop while I was down, rather than when I come up. I think that little sequence will help me. Down up pop slide.
Just gonna keep working at it 🔥

To me, it looks like you're not bringing your front foot up high enough to allow the board to continue upwards on the pop. Check out Sarah Park-Matott's Ollie video, she has some really good tips.

Ollies aren’t easy! Love the determination try and practice sliding that foot in a stationary position so you can get the muscle memory

15 years of skateboarding here. You are not poping the tail. You are more like pressing the tail and not slaping it into the ground. Your board will fly by itselsf when you hit the tail fast enough. Practice with your skateboard in the grass. And don't worry, it takes time, you are in the right way.

try and actually jump while moving your front foot forward (you are not actually jumping, i think you expect the pop just to lift you up in the air its not how it works)

You're not really sliding your front foot at all. An ollie might seem like it's all about the pop part... but it's about 1/4 pop 3/4 how you use your front foot to level out the board. Even when you learn to level out the board you have to then go further and learn how to level out the board even MORE, to the point where you are pushing the board out in front of you, pulling your knees into your chest and doing a kung fu kick. Look up "how to bone out an Ollie" on youtube and start trying to do the kind of ollie in one of those videos by Johnny giger or skate hacks.
