Can you guys believe that those types of rooms exist in Japan? Leave a comment down below if you guys have any funny stories finding a place here in Japan! 😎
Bathing in the kitchen wasn't uncommon, because the kitchen used to be the warmest room in old housings. Would make sense to put a bathtube in the kitchen and seperate it a bit. At least in Europe. My father told me, they had no bath at their yard till the 70s. They washed themselves in the kitchen or in summer outside at the barn as kids.
5:59 - that is not wierd. That is how people in Japan have lived for centuries. Reading other comments it seems that this layout was even common in Europe.
You guys overlooked some fairly major issues with these apartments: 2:36 I'd say it's a problem that the bathroom doors open out into the hallway. 5:32 I can't believe you didn't notice that the entrance to the apartment is through the bathroom! 8:03 You can't go from any room to any other room without passing through the toilet room. 9:57 There is no door into the apartment.
I was worried when I saw the video on my home page because I secured an apartment yesterday; it is a relief that I feel like I have made a good choice after watching this video.
Recently I moved to tsuchiura 1 hr from tokyo Now I have a 2LDK apartment for 47000 per month lol Everyday it takes 2hrs total from my apartment to Tokyo and then back. But it's worth it. I can live like I'm back in Sydney lol. Plus it's 10 mins by foot from the station and with a bicycle it's 4-5 mins

Wow, these apartments sure had some oddly... er badly designed floor plans. 🤪 Thankfully, I have been researching about Japan extensively for quite a bit of time to cover my bases before I move over in around 2 years. With some luck I will find a nice apaato; then with my pen, hanko stamp, & funds I will be prepared for all the fun paper work that goes along with living in Nihon. Emma that was very sweet of you not to give the obligatory "Wasabi Punishment" to Paris.

Hey guys!!! I would like to ask you if you can write the websites to find apartments? I'll be moving next February and I've just start to look places. Many thanks!!! I just love your videos they are soooo fanny!!!! xxxxxx
A lot of people mention bringing pets to Japan, but only bring up cats and dogs. Does anyone know how apartments feel about birds? I have one small parrot (Green Cheek Conure) that I will be bringing with me.
Anyone had any experience with Gaijinpot apartments? Moving from UK to Japan on a working holiday visa so just wondered if anyone had gone through them before :)

@@bit0159 also it was cheaper to add the bathroom to the kitchen as it already had plumbing

The only way to get between rooms is to go through the toilet room, wtf lol

I'm an architect and I spent several months going through Japanese floorplans and I have never been so traumatized in my life.
i love how they're all in tatami mat units haha
Paris still looked cute no matter what I did to her hair 😩 and the more I saw the floor plans, the luckier I felt to live in my current apartment 😄
YAY I GOT A POINT! LOL
That 4door toilet is basically a hallway with a toilet in it.
Amazing. XD
I’m honestly scared that it’d even be a squat toilet. easy mobility around it but it’s still a miniature manhole in the middle of your hallway 😷
that's a house for incontinent people
Honestly, you'd have to assume that floorplan was a mistake, as there is plenty of room for the toilet in the actual bathroom.
Those architects obviously never played The Sims.
Or they did, and they are that kind of player

Every time I see videos about apartments in Japan, it reinforces my thought if I ever lived there, a rural apartment is the way to go.
Emma, you were so nice to Paris. No wasabi. It’s like an early Christmas present to her. ;-)
That hairstyle was actually cute Paris! I would have totally rocked it and been like "yeah atarashii kamigata desu~" XD
"Knowing conversions is a tip".... ah Americans
a Americans...? Yikes.
We learn the metric system in the US. If someone doesn't know it, they simply didn't try in school.
I have American friends here in Japan and they still really can't get their head around Celsius.
Great fun video with really useful and handy advise. Seems like a pretty unique experience compared to finding places to live elsewhere.
I think I saw Emma on Jetstar’s commercial
Yep! she worked with them on an ad campaign
I think the kitchen bath one also has the toilet door opening toward the sink so it won't open fully and you'll have to squeeze through. Genius
帖 is tatami. The next room is depicted with 6 tatami size room. 12帖 is obviously 12 tatami size room.
8:34 The toilet in the floor? What?! xD
PS: Would be kind if you could maybe link some websites that are legit, for appartments/shared houses :D

omg Emma you went almost the whole video without sniffling! Then I heard one hahahah
You don’t have to pay key money or have a guarantor for an apartment. Depends where you look, including gajinpot

I am sure that those are errors on the blueprint versus "actual" apartments.
but please prove me wrong by going to one of those apartments and take a picture of a hallway with 4 doors and a toilet in the middle. :)
so weird to see you two in the same video! i nerve though you guys would colab
A lot of people mention bringing pets to Japan, but only bring up cats and dogs. Does anyone know how apartments feel about birds? I have one small parrot (Green Cheek Conure) that I will be bringing with me.
That 2nd last one: you’d have to go through the toilet to get anywhere from the main door?
Paris got schooled, but still looks awesome with that hair do from Emma lol
Anyone had any experience with Gaijinpot apartments? Moving from UK to Japan on a working holiday visa so just wondered if anyone had gone through them before :)
I expected to be presented with 5 common types of apartments in Japan, not 5 weird apartments in Japan
Would be interesting to see one of those crazy flats in reality not on the plan. :D
wtf, you lost me at >Insert number
Lol, wow, her hair didn’t even look bad.
5 tips for finding an apartment anywhere, more like it. Pure filler content lmao. Kudos for changing the music though.
