I can’t thank you enough for this video. My wife and I bought a new home that had this refrigerator. The previous owner an elderly woman apologized to us about the refrigerator that she had had a similar spill inside the unit and could not clean it. Well while tackling the job I could see this wasn’t going to be easy. I immediately went to RUclips and saw the video you posted. Also I want to add that your voice is perfect in a reassuring way and helped an impatient person like myself come out victorious. Not to mention when my wife returned from abroad was very happy and proud of me. Much appreciated, Dave

We have already replaced the original icemaker because ICE IS MY LIFE!! I need ice water constantly so I would be lost without it. $500 later, hoping we don't have to make it 3 ice makers cause I'm pretty certain my hubs would buy a new refrigerator or make me use trays instead! =)

Since I couldn't figure out how to get those damn tabs out without breaking them, I just knew I wasn't the only disparate fool (Samsung Refrigerator) owner out there with the same problem. And like you said, "There's nothing about this in the User Manual". While my wife is digging and jabbing a Steak Knife under those stubborn rigid Tabs, that I know will break if not done right. I asked my wife to stop and give me just one minute so that I could look it up on RUclips, And low and behold, what do I find?

Oh no! I was feeling frustrated and desperate, looking for an answer to the problem of getting the glass shelf out of my refrigerator to clean it without breaking the plastic tabs that held it in. I did misspell the word earlier in the body of the message. That was a simple typo. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to manage a piece of expensive equipment and the User's Manual offers absolutly no help. ergo, my dilemma with my $1500.00 refrigerator was solved by this RUclips Video.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I also had a spill and just general gunk that accrues over time and wanted to do a deep clean today. My initial assessment lead me to prying the clips that hold the glass in place;however, age and prior mistakes have thought me that if it doesn’t pry loose with gentle provoking that it likely isn’t the thing to do. The clips to both remove the entire unit as well as how to remove the glass were a HUGE time and frustration saver. Thank you again!

OMG! You saved me a lot of money when I was thinking I'd have to hire an appliance repair person when a major spill in my brand new fridge sent green liquid under the glass on that bottom shelf! You explained it so well in such a short video --- a thousand thank yous :D

Another heartfelt thanks. I have no idea what I would have done without you. It's infuriating that Samsung wouldn't include these directions in the owner's manual given how easily liquid gets caught under the glass.

Just watched the video, EXTREMELY helpful! However, on the newer model of this refrigerator (purchased new this year), the first two tabs you discuss are changed slightly. The outermost tabs are actually not the ones you push on, but rather a tab *behind* these outer most ones. It took us a few tries to get it, but you have to get behind the outer tabs (thin flat-head screwdrivers worked great), then push in on the 'hidden' tabs, and then you *really* need a second person to pull up on the shelf while pushing down on the center support/filter housing. After that it was spot on to your video.

Thanks !! Even 4 years after you published this, samsung continues to sell this fridge with an obviously defective design. Perhaps in Korea, they never clean their refrigerators. But my wife does not well tolerate wetness that can lead to mold. I can't believe how hard I had to press on the release tabs to separate the shelf from the filter cartridge base !! It took BOTH of us to get the shelf loose ! Me pressing on the tabs with the pointy ends of 2 pocket knives (screwdrivers slipped too much), and my wife holding the filter cartridge down, while lifting UP on the shelf. THEN - we had to figure out HOW to get the shelf OUT of the fridge. You can't just pull it straight out - rather you have to rotate it vertical, THEN slide it out RIGHT side first (left side first doesn't work because of the ice dispenser). Finally - you have to very carefully press inwards on the retainer clip tabs to release the glass - do NOT press too hard - or you'll break them = $$$ bad news.
My final comment - the shelves in this fridge are NOT adjustable. You can't raise the middle shelf to accommodate taller items. Another P - - s poor design. If and when this fridge c- - ps out, I'll NOT be replacing it with another samsung.
