the reason why i cant get over with this song is because of the meaning of chasing pavemeents my friend told me.
Chasing pavements itself means trying to achieve something that already destined to failure, usually as a result of blind hope, or pointless hope. The phrase of “chasing pavements” refers to following the pavements aimlessly

The story behind this song is amazing though :) She was just thrown out by her ex boyfriend, and while running down the street, the lyrics just came to her and she recorded it on her phone right then and there.
She didn't get thrown out by her ex. She got thrown out of a bar after punching her ex in the face because he cheated on her. It was then she sang and wrote some of the song walking back home.

It's just that life experience significantly heightens your value of relationships, love and loss and as someone who has been very happily married for 20 years I still find it surprising that someone of 19 (her age when she wrote this song) could absolutely NAIL the very deepest emotions in such a way. That was my 14 yr old self when I had a huge crush on a guy friend of mine. Eventually I knew for sure he wouldn't like me along with having a gf at the time (even though he did send a little bit of mixed signals to me). Long story short word got out to him about me. He didn't really care. After feeling hurt at least it gave me some sense to move on and not waste my time. wow me too! I can't remember the show I was watching but at the end there was the VH1 new artist to check out and it played a clip of the video and I was very much into Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, so I really loved vocals and I became a fan fast.
