I like how Brazil successfully shows diversity in their recruitment ad without being condescending about it. Show, don’t tell goes a long way rather than forcing a narrative down peoples throats

For us, the patronymic and surname are not considered the "second" and "third" names, as they are precisely the patronymic and the surname. For example, Velior Anatolyevich (after his father, Anatoly) Skvortsov. (By the way, the name "Velior" may sound like the name of a fantasy character (IMHO), but it actually originated in the Soviet Union. It is an abbreviation for the phrase "Velikaya Octyabrskaya Revolutsiya", which means "The Great October Revolution".)

If another nation's cellphone company made an ad that makes people want to join their army more than your ad does to your own people and army, then you know you did something wrong.
We don't need ads tbh. Most Turkish men already wanting to join the army. It is considered as a prestigious job here in Turkey. Even me, as a master students of informatics wanting to be a combat drone specialist for army.
By the way in the Turkish one, the soldiers are woken up and told that very important people are coming and that they should represent the army perfectly. But it's revealed that the arriving people are their family, showing that they serve their families and their people and will die for them. And no, that was only an ad for a phone thingy letting you talk with your soldier family members. The yellow-dressed kid is the mascot of the company called "Türkcell" (Turkcell).
Greetings from Turkey. First of all, I would like to thank you for including us in your video and extend my regards. However, to give a little information, in the video section dedicated to Turkey, the topic is not about recruitment or the Turkish military, but about the communication of conscripted soldiers with civilians outside. In other words, Turkcell, a telecommunications company that offers private lines to soldiers in the army, has advertised itself. As there is still compulsory military service in our country, the Turkish armed forces do not broadcast recruitment videos like other countries. I wanted to share this information with you.
For anyone who doesn't know Portuguese, the Brazilian ad is remarking that it doesn't matter where you are from and which is your ethnic group, because the glory is for everyone equally when it comes to defending the country, the only thing you need is guts and will to defend your nation, the History behind it, and the diversity that made Brazil strong! It works THOUSAND times better than the American ad. Greeting from Argentina to our Brazilian neigbours. Edit in Spanish: Que carajo bolud0 JAJAJAJAJA tengo casi 3000 likes, no esperaba que esté comentario cause tanto debate XD
It was definitely better. But Brazil from the start was diverse. America has problems with discrimination and racism. What they really should say is “it doesn’t matter who you are, you just have to be a brave fighter and willing to give it your all.” You don’t need to give every soldier a backstory. And feel free to show a black soldier or a gay soldier or a transgender soldier. But don’t talk about their past because as the Russian ad said. That doesn’t matter, it’s about your willingness to give it your all.
@@donkey459 First off, Putin wouldn't say this. Second off, hardly anyone realizes that both Russia and Ukraine are on the same side, they're just using the proxy war as an excuse to have tens of thousands of white people mowed down.
Fun fact about the Snake smoking logo (Brazilian part) Many Brazilians doubted that Brazil would ever fight in another war, it was said that it was easier for a snake to smoke than for Brazil to enter the war. When Brazilian troops were sent to Italy to fight in WW2, the snake smoked. And the expression “the snake will smoke” entered entered the Brazilian vocabulary as a mocking way of saying that the unexpected happened.
12:10 the Turkish one is NOT a military recruitment ad. It is a cell service provider ad. Edit for anyone curious why the fuck a cell service provider ad has a military theme: This ad basically goes like this: The commander wakes the soldiers up and says that important visitors are coming. Then the families of the soldiers come and they start hugging. Then the cell service pack called "Askercell", which is probably a cell service pack with good discounts for soldiers, is introduced. The point of the ad is basically "We create the connection between a soldier and his/her family with the cheap cell service pack that we sell/give to soldiers." Maybe the pack is free, I don't know.
It was actually because of a popular saying during WW2, saying "it is easier for snakes to smoke than for Brazil to enter the war". That symbol was an answer to that statement.
Don't enter as a recruit, go to military schools where you will undergo real military training, you will know the true spirit of our military and discover the meaning of a knife in a skull. 💪👍

An army that has the mission to defend the motherland, and when called to join in operations of the guarantee of the law and the order. This is today's Brazilian Army. For this, we are divided in 8 military commands of area in this immense Brazil. We respect the ethnical and geographical differences of every region. From there, to maintain this giant, it was needed many campaigns of pacification headed for who is considered today, the patron of the force, Duque de Caxias. In the worldwide scenery, the Brazilian Army keeps conquering respect from many international organizations and institutions. Just remember the work of our Brazilian soldiers in World War Two. Now, in the 21st century, our army gets prepared to attend the needs of prompt employement of new and constant challenges. Turkey never had a recruitment ad. Because military draft is already mandatory, and they offer(in person) temporary soldiers to become an elite soldier which is contracted just like any mercenary.
The ad is about a GSM line has exclusive "military person sim cards" that has:
-no internet connection
-calling maximum of 6 different person per card
-also all the calls are recorded by military to detect if the owner is leaking inside data
So you have no choice but to get drafted or not if there was a military person shortage (very unlikely scenario though)

It was definitely better. But Brazil from the start was diverse. America has problems with discrimination and racism. I am a Brazilian, and here's the translation for the whole Brazilian Army ad:
"An army that has the mission to defend the motherland, and when called to join in operations of the guarantee of the law and the order. This is today's Brazilian Army. We are more than 200k men and women working together, brothers-in-arms. Guaranteeing the constitutional powers, sovereignty and the freedom of our nation. For this, we are divided in 8 military commands of area in this immense Brazil. We respect the ethnical and geographical differences of every region. And we know we are part of a whole, and with that, we give our life for this land. We know that there's no nation without history, there's no country without roots. Therefore, we valoue every page of our past, and we remember the sacrifices of our heroes, to maintain this giant called Brazil. With that, we look into the future, but without forgetting the origins of our force. An union of races and creeds. It born in this way in 1648, the Brazilian Army. While their estrategic programs show engagement with the country, and engagement for tomorrow. But it's with the solid and traditional educational institutions, which the ground forces keep investing on what is your essence: the soldier. An army that colaborates to the scientific and technological development of Brazil, searching for modern equipments for the nation's defense. This is my, your and our Brazilian Army. Men and women working for the defense of Brazil. Brazilian Army, Strong Arm - Friendly Hand."
Hope you enjoyed!
I think your ad was great, the prefect balance between inclusiveness, being proud of your history and showing your modern equipment.
