- I recently got the opportunity to visit a local night shelter in Cape Town. This experience had a massive impact on my outlook on the homelessness situation in South Africa.

Our goal here at Making a Change is to change the lives of as many people as possible. Our aim is to give an audience to those incredible organizations that are working hard daily to make the world a better place. Along with this, we will also be doing our part in impacting wherever and whenever we can. We will start with beach cleanups and charity drives, later this will grow into podcast sessions with organization leaders, food drives in and around South Africa, and much more.

I think since this video,touch your heart i hope you can do that. Most of time we keep on say what people will say.ask around with shelters that are existing alredy.do your homework around this situation and see what you can.
You can start by helping people who are around you.buy them bread just help in general were you can.

I don't understand how do we as a community expect people to pay when they have nothing in there bank accounts. The term is homeless shelter should be a government funded project.
Your shelter is very well kept and you guys are doing a good job, keep it up, just hoping you guys get more help to expand.
This is what im looking for. I have been homeless just recently becauae i got retrenched, i dont have any family, and ex girlfriend whom i lived with broke up with me becauae i lost my job. Will you please help me until I get back on my feet. I do not have any additions, I am just down on my luck

Where in cape town is this shelter? What is the criteria to be able to stay here?

what happens to the person who doesnt have that R20, who hasnt got a JOB but who desperately wants to make a change?
Do They just get turned away???
Are they told that
Must they beg on the street to get that R20 for that night and thus start a pattern of beggibg every day just to be housed at night?

Maybe they will give them a break or they will have to recycle, beg or do whatever they can to get it. One US dollar is about 17 rands, so donations would be helpful. I'm already helping out in Johannesburg but who knows I may be able to add them to my long list. Have a blessed day.
