Mike and Melissa - I am a manager of Emergency Preparedness and Response for a hospital system that includes 5 hospitals. The team and I have been working for nearly 3 weeks, 13-16 hour days with no time off. Most go home only to sleep. I have not been near a chainsaw or tractor for weeks; this was how many of us keep sane during normal times. In the moments I find, I sneak off and watch an episode of your channel, and one other, to live vicariously through your videos. My team laughed when they walked into the command center and heard a chainsaw buzz coming from my computer. It has been a real help. I wanted to take a second and let you know Thanks

First time commenting, because I started with your first video and worked my way to this most recent one! I originally found your channel while doing a search for ideas on my “carry all” project in the fall of 2019, and I immediately subscribed. Yes,,, I did complete my carry all project too! So, I set a goal to watch from the beginning, and I finally completed the task at hand. I have been watching 2-3 episodes (more or less) each evening and a few on weekend mornings with coffee. Thanks for numbering the episodes, it makes it much easier to follow your journey. I work a “regular job” also and have a small business on the side, so to all the Morgan’s, your work ethic is appreciated! I also have a small property and a 2012 JD 1026 I putz around with.
With regard to television, I cut the cable off many years ago. So channels like yours are great for us all, especially those in “hunker down” mode due to CV. Thank you!
Tell the whole family, but especially Hunter, that SteveMac says Hi from SE Missouri.
Thanks again for the great content. Sorry for the long comment, but I have waited over 700 episodes to jump in! OK, finished the coffee and gotta head out to do some stuff outside. This is the only decent day we’ve had in a while. Lots of rain... HAVE A DAY! 👍

In the future when you butt two beams together Cut a half-lap joint in each beam so that they overlap each other by 4 inches so that both beams sit entirely on top of the support post.

Mike, talk about overkill, we milled all the wood from my forest for a new woodshed and the flooring was made with 3" by 16" 10 foot long nearly clear pine planks. I named it the "elephant dance floor." It is so satisfying to build your own sheds and outbuildings with your own lumber.

It is pouring down here now - my tractor lugs (full old time tractor tires) sink into the ground up to the flat tire between lugs. Scary! I move slow and stay in 2 wheel so the spare 2 power wheels are getting me out of trouble if needed. Four at once can be 4 holes in the ground so easy and fast.

Love what you guys are doing. Mike I was thinking that you should let the whole shed/wood built cure up for a year, or maybe even less since we are heading into the summer. Meanwhile cut some batten strips (Board and Batten siding) and somehow stack and strap them to cure, and then in the year add them to the now shrunken seams. If you do it right away that would cause some splitting when shrinking, but adding them later one would cure that. How you manage that with your siding preservative/stain coating I am not sure. Suggestions welcome. This is my number one RUclips daily go to event.

I am still not convinced that 3 screws in the beam at the back of the wood shed, will carry the roof structure and snow load when in shear screwed into softwood posts. The beam should be checked into the columns so it carries the weight rather than the screws, the front beam is OK.

    Hi Mike,
I am also a learn-by-trying type. I love your build vids. Since you have said that you plan several more similar builds, I want to throw out a small tip. Please don't read it as criticism as that is a beautiful shed you have started. I love it! So my tip is for the joints where the beam segments rest on the posts. 6"-8" extra length on each outer segment and 12"-14" on the middle one would allow you enough material for a half lap joint. It can provide a tremendous amount of stability. This would be especially conducive with those awesome 3.5 inch thick beams-- plenty of meat still on the bone. Helps keep the joint tight by counteracting any racking forces. Of course you will have several other elements in this build to help do the same. I read some have already suggested plywood cleats on the inside spanning the joint. Keep up the positive and entertaining vids! I never miss one!

Nice work, Mike. Braces look great. If you have any scrap 1/2" CDX ply, you can make some gussets for the inside faces of your beam joints to act as reinforcement splices. Maybe 6" wide by 2' long, with a foot on either side of the joint between beams, then nailed with galvanized nails. Love the story about Hunter "frisking" you for soda-pop contraband. :)

The nice thing about using that green wood for the siding is that it gets nailed down before it can warp. Mike and Melissa you are are doing a banged up job on the shed, which means job well done, but use guys alway say a short while after sheds and garages are finished is: “should have built it 3 times bigger”. 👷‍♀️
