I work at CVS the reason we throw food out is because its out of date, but sometimes because its no longer on the planogram on the shelf. most items have to go back to the warehouse.
Idk if you guys are fans of water flavor powders or liquids but especially now that we're coming up on summer they are perfect to add to those kinds of sparkling water. My kiddo & I both love the LaCroix type sparkling waters on their own but when it gets hot we fill up a pitcher with sparkling water, add pink/strawberry lemonade or whatever of the 20 flavors we have then add slices of fruit. There's never a time we don't have this in our fridge when it's hot out.
Awesome finds today. With dog food, it's still good for a year past the expiry date. I asked our vet, as we owned a medical needs pet rescue for over 10 years, and we had to make sure, as some places would donate just expired or close to the expiry date. Having worked at Kirklands in the past I can tell you the number one type of merchandise that got tossed was items that had broken glass. Mirrors, photo frames, wall art, glass top tables and more all came in broken frequently and it all went in the trash because of the liability of selling an item with broken glass. I'm mentioning this here because people need to be very clear how likely it is that there is going to be a bunch of glass fragments in that Kirklands dumpster. Always wear gloves, thick boots, thick jeans and a long sleeve shirt or jacket if you are going to climb into a dumpster behind a Kirklands people! When I saw her wearing shorts and flip flops it just made me absolutely cringe!
Employees can be fired if they are caught throwing away merchandise without destroying it first. It makes me wretchedly sick that companies do that but there is little I can do to change that it's done. Standard policy at Kirklands when I worked for them is that anything useable at all got marked down as scratch and dent and sold on the sales floor unless the damage was dangerous to the customer (any broken glass was an instant destroy and disposal item unless the glass could somehow be completely removed). And in most cases anything of real value got snatched up and bought by the employees anyway.
Consider keeping these drinks in the car for homeless people on the streets. With summer here, I'm sure they would appreciate them. Sparkling water doesn't go bad, it just becomes flat if in plastic bottles too long.
I really like you two. Compared to others dding you two aren't mercenary about it. You see value in almost every thing and you look beyond yourselves in you're thoughts of others when you come across things you know others would benefit from. Such selflessness seems to be a rare commodity these days. Needless you'll be the ones I continue to watch.

Don't you have a "Little Pantry" or food donation place like that for the Water, etc?? ~ AND ~ The broken Candles can just burn in Bowls (Cracked or otherwise that you find Diving.. The Drink Mix could go to a Pantry, They don't Have to have Alcohol added. People can drink them for Tomato Juice.. Tomatoes are Very hard to find right now..
