If Kurtzmann is involved in any way it'll be awful
Ultimately, this new film is about JJ carving deeper into the Trek timeline to find areas that he can exploit with little to no pushback... for the purpose of growing his influence, business and cash holdings.
It took awhile, but I've come to see JJ as a businessman instead of a director. If he wants to make this film its not because of a creative decision to expand or continue the Trek franchise. It's because he's spotted a one time opportunity that he has no intent on continuing as a creative force. Abrams has bailed on every project he insisted he was a fan of, and only comes back when opportunities have dried up, or he's asked for direct.
Kurtzman and JJ are both postmodernists in their approach to long term beloved franchises. JJ panders to nostalgia. Kurtzman offers nostalgia, then subverts it in accordance with modern popular political activism. Either way, the only man I would have trusted with this... Manny Coto, has sadly passed away. The ties between those who were a part of Trek are eroding and unless JJ and Kurtzman and Secret Hideout are kicked off the Trek train, we'll only suffer more as we approach what Star Wars has already faced... The loss of someone so important that the possibility of seeing Carrie Fisher, Mark Hammil and Harrison Ford on screen one last time is gone forever.
Putting the wrong people in charge of an old franchise will ultimately cost the audience.

I'm not sure if any of the movies will actually come out. We might see them but there is a distinct possibility that this is all just paramount+ hype to try and get more interest before trying to sell to another service.
It's mind blowing that the only classic canon Nu-trek counts was Enterprise - which was notoriously and ridiculously never in continuity in the slightest and was the death spasm of the Berman-Braga era of mediocrity.
Crikey if they go any further back it will be about the H.M.S Enterprize

Sadly Discovery and Strange New Worlds don't appeal to me, with another Spock and it simply is not lining up anymore
The best follow ups were Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, why not go further instead of back in time with every series or movies?
I agree.
Though I include Enterprise for its world building, even though the last episode is a kick in the groin to fans.
With paramount and cbs back together the original timeline can be used.
Bad Robot needs to be fired, original timeline should be used with William Shatner overseeing.

Anything with bad reboot involved doesn't interest me. I just don't enjoy their take on this franchise. Too whizz bang and silly.
This entire premise makes no sense.. anything before the Kelvin incident would simply be the Prime timeline...
Not to defend JJ-Kurtzman trek...But have you considered that JJ-trek isn't going to have Data meeting Mark Twain in its past. Or Shatner Kirk letting Edith Keeler die or saving Humpback whales. And thus the ripples from timeline changes go as far back as the time travelers no longer going back in their own timelines.
@@lucasbachmann That is definitely a time travel problem right there... once you've made one change you've made a ton of changes. If you start making too many of those changes then the whole show universe falls apart.
It is almost certain to be dreadful. There's been so much bad Star Trek over the last 15 years, I no longer care what's coming out.

O dont need a Cory haiam or a replay from a cgi DeForest Kelly or dead spock in an alternate kahn universe. Because apparently Disney or paramount forgot how to write. Anything. Shut I wrote campaigns for Gary gygax. Creator of Dungeons and dragons. Know what Chris pine did great well written it was funny sad heroic loveable shit i have a module I wrote that 27 people played on 1989. Atndragon flight never published because gary sold tsr. It's 3 feet away. 3rs edition with new rules and spell misfires an mana system so makes aren't useless. Traps puzzles and mystery 47 hrs play time. Oh and I build rockets. Nutrek is a disgrace. Enterprise is THE prequel. The buggers running things now don't know Star Trek. I don't even need to see it. A hard pass.

My simple and humble opinion here is that strange New World is the best new Star Trek we have had in a very long time. It feels completely familiar, but totally fresh at the same time. I really like it.
