If everyone was like your family, it would be a better world. In today’s world, people keep trying to get more and more, instead of being content with what they have.
You know, you guys are just a good honest hard-working family whom I love to watch doing the things I like doing as well. We need more like you! Thanks for your posts! Tom
You are so fortunate that Matt can do all the things he does around your place. That’s worth so much. And that he’s so willing to work along beside you.
I love how Matt doesn’t stop for anything ( except his job) -no matter who comes by, no matter the food offered, he keeps right on installing windows. Now that’s the way to get the job done!
Matt puts me in the mind of my late dad. My dad was a hard worker and knew how to fix and work on most everything. He wouldn't have liked all the computerized things of today though. He grew up on a small farm and had to drop out of school to help out at home when his dad passed away. He knew a lot about farm work, hunting, how to tap trees and make molasses plus everything that goes with living off the land. My dad did body and mechanic work on cars for a living. He also had a gun shop for a few years. I bet he and Matt would have had a lot to talk about. I was a daddy's girl too Tipper. I was his little shadow.
Good for you having new windows. I’m sure they will make a difference in your heating and cooling bills. Much more efficient! You all work so well together. ❤️
Had identical boys, Benjamin and Liam, and Singleton Amelia.... Liam passed after 14 months.... but the kids still love him and will tell anyone who listens that they are TRIPLETS!! LOL
Good morning Matt and Tipper, I can relate to being frugal. My entire life, 81 years, being frugal was just a way of life. Part out of necessity and part because I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY VERY CONSERVATIVE IN ALL AREAS OF MY LIFE. I've never needed the latest new car, fancy clothes, lots of jewelry, etc. My priorities have always been based on what I could afford. We grew up sewing our own clothes, storing foods for winter, whether canning or freezing. There's a certain kind of satisfaction in being able to do all these things then looking back with a sense of pride in your handy work. I love watching you and Matt working together in all the projects y'all have going on. I would rather be debt free than have all the glitz and glamor that some people measure success by. Thanks for sharing. Jeri Whittaker 6/22/2022 Near Athens, Georgia
You all have a beautiful home! It’s suits you perfectly and has everything you need! You raised beautiful, kind daughters, and have all you could need! I love it! 💕🌸💞
You got yourself a keeper in Matt, Tipper. It’s good to see honest, loving, hard working people like y’all now days. My hubby and I have always been on the frugal side. I’m more so than my hubby because I was raised very frugal, recycle, repurpose and do it yourself by my mom. My dad was a good working man to provide for his family, but it was my mom that managed everything in our home and she did it all. So I can appreciate frugal living and like you, if I ever came into some big money, our life would still be the same, maybe just a little less worrisome at times. Windows on your house look beautiful and Matt did an awesome job!
You guys are absolutely Awesome! If anyone says different then they must be confused about life or conformed to society. The quiet ice cream moment routine is great.
Like you, I used to imagine recreating things in my house. Now that I’m older I love it just the way it’s always been. Full of memories and collections of things of little value to anyone but my family. But…new windows would be nice! Thanks for sharing your life and letting me feel secure in my own frugalness.
I think it's wonderful how you guys are willing to learn to do things and then do the hard work to get it finished. Great job! So wise to save up money for these kind of projects. I love the wind, especially in the summer. My favorite memory is of my dad and I standing on the porch watching a storm come.
I just love watching storms roll in. I have found the older I get that a simple life is a happy life. I wouldn't change a thing if I won the lottery tomorrow. I just love Matt's attitude, Instead of complaining about how many more windows he has to do, he is happy he got the two done! Oh I so love hearing the wind and rain. We need prayers for some rain down here!
It looks like Matt got a lot accomplished with the windows. That's fantastic! I really enjoy the videos you put up together. I love your house, by the way. It seems like it's a good size and comfortable. I think comfort is the best thing in life and so is "home". It takes time to realize our goals with a home, even if it takes a while. It took my husband and I two decades to fix up our place. It isn't extravagant, but it's "home". I also love your yard/garden. And the high winds part of your video was enjoyable. I often wonder if the trees enjoy having their branches and leaves stretched and moved around. Hugs~

I lived in an old farmhouse no insulation and during winter time the main floor was so cold there was ice on the floor. You do what you have to do. Hey, you're going to be warm during winter time. Awesome job Matt 👍
Some days I can’t seem to get enough of your channel. This isn’t the one I saw the thing That I wanted to comment on, but I feel sure my comment will reach you. I love how you use everything when you harvest. You were cutting out the bad places and using the good. I grew up doing that. We grew most of our own food in the garden. Sometimes the beans & tomatoes are not perfect; but that doesn’t mean they are less nutritious. We get spoiled buying Grade A produce at the market (the grade A is for looks!). I know people in this capital city who would throw away culls, because they don’t know better! I know how good garden vegetables that we grow ourselves tastes! My husband and I grew the best crop of tomatoes the summer he passed away. Great memories of us eating tomato sandwiches at least once a day that year! We even took them on our cross country trip and saved a LOT of money! That memory is so precious to me! THANK YOU so much for sharing your life with us!
Again teasing with the ice lollies! Yummm! Matt works so fast. Must be the light bread. The garden looks fabulous. We are starting to eat our beans and courgettes a will be ready next week. A frugal life is best. People don’t seem to know what is enough. When you know that then you can appreciate that everything extra is just wonderful! X
It was so enjoyable watching you and Matt eating your popsicles and chatting. Then when the wind picked up it just seemed to add to the peacefulness . For me anyway. I love to watch storms coming in. My goodness Matt , that was a great job on the windows. By the way , Jeld- Wen windows are made up here in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada , my home . I can brag to my friends that we are a part of Appalachia. I also enjoy your Friday readings Tipper. God Bless your family and friends. Wally
I just read Miss Cindy’s comment that you have a wonderful family that she is proud to be a part of. And…that Matt can do anything!! What wonderful words from a beautiful lady, especially knowing now that she is about to go to Heaven. Love you all.
You guys are inspirational, encouraging, and just plain Real. It’s like a breath of fresh air. Your family is awesome and I enjoy watching you share your life and wisdom. God bless you guys!
With those windows you’re going to feel the difference come winter Im guessing. Nothing like a well timed storm to cool you down. Your whole place is looking great!🌻💛🌻
That wind blowing in the back round if I were back on. the homestead I would have been in a ham and flat out sleeping in about 5 minutes. That brought back fond memories of home. great vlog, thank you.
I also love when I see a storm coming the way the wind feels and the electricity in the air I live I west Tennessee and it has been miserable here for going on 2 weeks now we have had no rain and it has been around 100 for that long just miserable .Anyway Mrs.Tipper I just love to watch your videos you are so humble and such a great person the way you tell your stories hope to hear many more.
Matt seems perfect; he cooks, hunts, chops wood, does carpentry, gardens, & most any thing that needs doing. Tipper seems perfect, too! I love your happiness, & that you share your life with us is special. Thanks guys. 💙
Y'all make an adorable couple sitting together eating popsicles. I think y'all are more admirable than rich couples with their worldly mansions. Y'all seem to be happy and content. God bless
Nice work!! You guys have a beautiful home, and garden. I pray you guys and your home and family, and garden will be blessed and protected, now and always in Jesus' Name. You guys are awesome!! Keep up the great work!!
Not having”big eyes” and being satisfied people makes for happy people. You guys are on top of the world. I love these storms we have in Kansas City, Missouri where the weather changes on you up to 60* within several hours. That was such an awesome vlog. Thanks.
I love storms especially thunder. You'll are a blessing to me as I understand living a frugal life. Praying for you and Your family as Miss Cindy is called home to be with her Lord and savior. I always enjoy stopping by.
I just love Appalachian people. I feel your part of my family. I love that my people left Northern Ireland ULSTER. to go to Amerikee. God bless you good folk. You are the salt of the earth. Xxxxx
My grandparents who lived in the hills is gone now. I miss all the cousins and gettin together. We have all gone separate ways. I sure miss the family and those days. Y’all remind me of them. I just found y’all. We had 7 children and homeschooling, homesteading. My husband had a job but worked shift work nights as days. Nothin like country livin. The kids are grown up. We are still working our land. You can take a girl out of the mountains but ya can’t take the mountains out of the girl. Now we are retiring from my husband’s job. Just working our homestead and farm. Love y’all’s channel. Makes me feel like home. ❤️
I love watching you all work. You work together so well, and it is so obvious how much you love and respect each other. You have a wonderful family, and I am proud to be a part of it! Matt can do anything, I mean anything!
The windows look great. The storm was amazing. We did the same thing y’all did, built our house as cheap as possible and now we’re redoing what we can afford to do to make it more efficient. But that’s what’s kept us going I guess. Y’all set such a fine example for your girls and others as well. Love your videos. ❤️
Matt is like all the men I grew up with- they knew how to do everything. My Daddy built r house but the only thing he was reluctant to do was mess with the electricity. But then like Matt the man across the road was an electrician & Daddy would trade favors with him. Then I married a city man who came from a bunch of engineers & that dear man didn’t know how to do anything!! I quickly made friends with really good companies that would come fix the furnace, the electric panel, etc. thanks again for helping me remember good memories.
My husband & I have been watching y’all on RUclips. We are retired and have enjoyed watching your celebrating Appalachia, my life as a child was a lot of ways like you live. I love your girls they are precious. Thank you.
I could sit and listen to you and your family all day. Your family is so blessed! It’s the kind of family I’ve always dreamed of. I was raised the way you was. I miss those days so much. I just love your closeness of your family. 🙏❤️
My Uncle Paul was an electrical engineer and all-around handyman, having taught himself everything from building shelves to maintaining his swimming pool. He was famous for saying that one secret to happiness was to live below your means. As was mentioned at his recent memorial service, one thing he never got around to was having air conditioning installed in the house where he and his wife raised their kids!
I understand about the windows. When we bought our cabin in WNC 11 yrs ago it had single pane windows. Every year I'd put plastic up over the windows. It was a small fixer-upper vacation home we hoped to one day retire to. About 5 yrs ago it unexpectedly became our full time retirement home due to health issue. Living with the windows 24/7 and not just a weekend was a rude awakening in the winter. The window panes were getting ruined, the hardwood floors under the floor to ceiling windows were getting ruined. I tried lined drapes in an effort to fight it. They just stuck and froze to the windows. Put rolled up towels at the base of each. It was a constant losing battle. The roof wasn't insulated either (this cabin was never meant to be a full time residence). We finally had the roof replaced with insulation and a metal roof and all windows replaced at the beginning of the pandemic. Best thing we ever did!
Watching from Quebec Canada. I don't know much about the people of Appalachia except the stereo typical stuff they feed us on TV.. We have many things in common.Hard working people trying to do the best you can. Much respect.
Enjoyed this video! Thanks for sharing. I also sit on the front porch as a storm comes rolling in, the wind, the thunder, the lightning and then the sound of the rain falling around me. It is relaxing! Not for everyone I know, but my son and I enjoy the storms. Nice windows!
So, I had to stop halfway through this video to go back to work, but soon as I got home I went right back to it. Started back off at the ice cream moment. Lol. You guys are special. Videos, stories, work, food, words...all brings me back home. I remember back in NC, we traded labor, building each other's homes, sheds, barns, whatever the family or neighbors needed. Thank you so very much. I'm hooked. Lol.
What a privilege to set across from a loving committed couple and listen to family in an slice of life..... full of wisdom, gratefulness, and acceptance...
Our home here in Iowa is the same age as yours. Our windows were not up to code. They were supposed to be tempered glass, and they aren’t. Two of them imploded...one in the middle of the night. We thought it was a break in. Matt, I’m impressed with your skills! My husband is handy too, which saves us lots. We’re replacing 9 windows on our main floor this Fall. We need rain too! Hot here in Iowa!
It's a good life to find the right help mate -- a really good life. Doesn't take money for a good life... ol' fashioned love, respect, friendship... GOD bless y'all!
That was so professional looking when you finished Matt. You are quite a guy if you ask me. You both make a great couple. I hope you have many many more years to share each other.
Now home ownership is almost out of reach for young families. What a blessing to have a home these days. Many people would love to have what you have. Regular family homes here selling for 500k and more. It's crazy. Our local young families are now priced out of communites they were born and raised in. Your home is a treasure. It's everything to family life.
I love to live frugel. I was divorced rather young, so I taught myself to repair many things in my house. My daughter's always say mom you can put plumbing on your resume. Love the sound of your storm, but yes they can cause damage for sure. Love you guys take care.🤗🎉
The memories of living in the country came back when the wind came in and blowing the trees around. And it was so sweet seeing Corey pop out the window a few times checking on yawl
Hello Tipper & Matt. Love your popsicle breaks!!! We have a set of ID twin boys, well they're not boys any more but what a joy they were bringing up. Never a dull moment. Matt the windows look great. Until next time have a great day
It’s 103 in Illinois near Chicago today. I’m hoping for a nice storm to cool it off too. I love hearing the wind stirring up in your video.Matt seems like a very lovely person and hard woeker
My husband came across your channel a month ago and we've been watching ever since. I love to watch you cook and bake. Even though I've always lived in a city setting I feel food is so important. My husband and I have 8 kids and I hope their memories are always homemade food and bread with whipped butter.
I am in the Appalachian Mountains in South Central Pennsylvania. We need rain bad here too. Praying for rain. We may get some tomorrow. I really love your shows. My husband is a carpenter also, but now retired and disabled. I long for the days when we both were able to work. If you lose your health, you have nothing. ❤️❤️❤️
Tipper, growing up in Southern Ohio, our house was built around 1900. There was a gas furnace in the basement, but it only heated the first floor. Each bedroom upstairs had a hole in the floor to allow heat to rise up into it. Most winter mornings I had ice on the inside of my bedroom and really appreciated the thick Appalachian Quilt to keep warm.
Im going to miss these Popsicle breaks with you and Matt when the weather starts to getting cooler. I love to listen to all that yall have to say! So much useful information to share. The story about the saw & windows is wonderful to be using it again after many year's. Be proud, yall have done a beautiful job with your home & Family. I love your frugal life! It is very Soecial, i think. Thank ya'll for Celebrating Appalachia ! I love storms now too Tipper. God's Speed Only. 😇❤💛🙏
I get the window thing. First house we bought had windows that would frost sometimes on the inside. Funny story. My hubby got himself a Sawzall. First time he used it was to install a front porch light. I'm sitting in the living room and he cuts a hole through the whole wall. Whoops! Nice you got new windows. Good job Matt. Stay frugal!
Thank you for sharing your day of working together and getting the windows installed. I truly love your place, home and life. It is so refreshing in this day and time when all people want is more and more and they are so unhappy with their lives. I feel a strong marriage and God at the helm will help us through anything in this life. I too, love storms moving in as the wind blows the standing people, (trees) they sing their song. Thanks again, and may God bless and keep you all your days. Waving from NC, Pittsboro down by the river.
Momma doing the hauling and gardening while daddy does the windows. Family coming by to see how things going and if yuns need anything. Lunch break and popsicles on site, not leaving to eat and come back. 👍
I loved the chit chat video with your husband. You two are an amazing couple. It’s so wonderful how handy your husband is with home improvements. You have a beautiful home made with love. ❤️🤗
I love watching y'all, it brings back so many memories of my childhood growing up between Georgia with my parents and right across the line in Alabama with my Grandparents. I still to this day live as frugal as possible, (shot can't afford not to now-a-days especially with 5 kids), and I wouldn't do it any different even if I had a lot of money. I absolutely loved seeing that storm blow in. I always look forward to the summer evening storms blowing in to cool down the smoldering days. This spring and summer has been a doozy with this heat and where we live on the AL\GA line bout an hour South of Atlanta it has been super dry too and we ain't seen hardly any rain much less summer evening storms so I was very envious of y'all's little storm.
Ya all are so sweet together and pat yourselves on the back ya all have raised 2 beautiful ladies I watch them and now will start watching your channel
Love the bartering to get things done! My husband and I both grew up that way (Virginia) and continue to do that here in Arizona. It is a way of life for us and truly benefits the whole community. What if money had no meaning suddenly, we'd all have to live this way. My husband can do so many things and he is truly a blessing. He had saved is so much for the 22 years we have been together! Love your family as my Granny is from as she called "The Smokies". I learned so much from her and my Mama. We are both in our 60's now and have passed this way on to many of our friends and younger family, skills mean the world when you don't have much money?
If everyone was like your family, it would be a better world. In today’s world, people keep trying to get more and more, instead of being content with what they have.
Well said. ❤️💯
Amen to that

Loved the storm. So glad Matt pointed out his safety measures on the "new scaffolding". I was concerned. Love your house & gardens Tipper.
Thank you Cheryl 😀
Yep, Matt is so smart to take it as slow and carefully as possible, using every safety measure to save life and limb.
Me too! I was nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rockers. I do not like ladders or scaffolds!

I love storms especially thunder. You'll are a blessing to me as I understand living a frugal life. Praying for you and Your family as Miss Cindy is called home to be with her Lord and savior. I always enjoy stopping by.
It’s great when you can do repairs yourself. The savings and the gratification you get.
I just love Appalachian people. I feel your part of my family. I love that my people left Northern Ireland ULSTER. to go to Amerikee.
God bless you good folk. You are the salt of the earth. Xxxxx
Oh Tipper I didn't see you cook not one thing. That is my favorite time!!! I swear I can smell your food when you cook. Thanks for sharing!!!
😀
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video 😀
We replaced our windows after 25 years, 3 years ago. It’s unbelievable how much they have improved since those early days.
I love watching you all work. You work together so well, and it is so obvious how much you love and respect each other. You have a wonderful family, and I am proud to be a part of it! Matt can do anything, I mean anything!
I love the sound of wind, just like I love the sound of rushing water. It just makes me feel so alive.
It is so wonderful to have a man that knows how to do fix things. Good job!!!
Loved seeing the wind blowing and came the rain. Prayers for miss cindy
Thank you.
Thank you so much!
I could sit and listen to you and your family all day. Your family is so blessed! It’s the kind of family I’ve always dreamed of. I was raised the way you was. I miss those days so much. I just love your closeness of your family. 🙏❤️
Thank you so much!!
New windows makes such a difference in how the house looks, as well as the electric bill. Nice job!! ♥️🙏🏼
LOVED seeing the storm coming in. Great footage. Thanks.
No rain for a month, pull out the windows, queue the rain storm. Love the makeshift scaffold, BTW.
Thank you! The porch is a good place to watch the rain 😀
Being frugaland enjoying a simple life is a blessing. Rich folks don't have a clue just money but money can't buy happiness.
Thank you Gloria 😀
God has blessed you with your beautiful family, honesty and hard work. Thank you for letting us into your good lives.
I'm hooked. Lol.
Prayers for Miss Cindy, you and your family.
What a privilege to set across from a loving committed couple and listen to family in an slice of life..... full of wisdom, gratefulness, and acceptance...
You really chose a great location for your HomePlace. I enjoy “visiting” with your family.
And,it was so good to stop by!! Happy storm. Wjoa, a huge wind. Neat to see❤
The windows look GREAT 👍 GOD BLESS & LOVE TO ALL !!!💖💖🙏🙏
It's a good life to find the right help mate -- a really good life.
I just love your homestead. I can see why you want to live there. It so tranquil and lush. I want to come visit you , and stay. ❤
Hello Tipper & Matt. Love your popsicle breaks!!! We have a set of ID twin boys, well they're not boys any more but what a joy they were bringing up. Never a dull moment. Matt the windows look great. Until next time have a great day
I loved watching the storm come in!
I love sitting on the porch with the dog and watching it rain. So relaxing and refreshing
May God continue you both thank you for your example to the rest of us. Thank you
It’s 103 in Illinois near Chicago today.
Thank you so much!
I hope you get some rain 😀
Tipper, growing up in Southern Ohio, our house was built around 1900. There was a gas furnace in the basement, but it only heated the first floor. Each bedroom upstairs had a hole in the floor to allow heat to rise up into it. Most winter mornings I had ice on the inside of my bedroom and really appreciated the thick Appalachian Quilt to keep warm.
Thank you for sharing your life and experiences with me!!
Oh yeah, you got that good soaking rain. Your gardens are lovely and loving this great storm.
The rain was nice 😀
That wind y'all got last year looks so refreshing. It's hot in Texas! God bless!
Loved it🧡I especially loved the scaffolding strapped to the house! That was a great idea!
Your home shows the love that your family shares. Bless you all. ❤️🙏
Thank you so much!
Storm’s a brewing. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much 😀
Momma doing the hauling and gardening while daddy does the windows.
Y'all ARE rich! Matt is The Man! Loved this one!
Ya all are so sweet together and pat yourselves on the back ya all have raised 2 beautiful ladies I watch them and now will start watching your channel
Thanks so much 😀
Love the bartering to get things done!
