There is something magical about the Lowcountry. I can never get enough. We have sailed through there several times and love hanging out in the creeks listening to the birds and grasses and changing water. One of my favorite memories was around Christmas several years ago and a man had been out shrimping, had more than his fill and motored over to us and just gave us a five gallon bucket full of fresh caught shrimp. Such a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.
very nice video!!.....be careful about boats...you've probably heard this before but its worth repeating......"the 2 happiest days of your life are..1..when u buy ur boat...2..when u sell ur boat....funny but very true..
LOVE LOVE LOVE me sum Beaufort. Hoping to retire there some day. Lived there in the mid 80's when I was stationed there in the Marine Corps and it's had part of my heart ever since.
You’re in my neck of the woods! I love Beaufort & Hunting Island! My niece & I were going over the bridge to Fripp Island once. We looked over to the right & saw the sun setting. Looked over to the left & saw the moon was rising. It was so beautiful! Such a charming place! Glad to hear you love the Lowcountry as much as I do! It’s a special place! Hunting Island is where I plan on doing my shake down trip when I get a van. Great video as always!
Thanks so much, Sandra!! We're a bit jealous you get to live in the lowcountry. It's such a beautiful area to call home! We gave you a wave as passed the Hilton Head signs en route from Savannah to Beaufort. :)
I live between Beaufort and Bluffton.....went to Hunting two weeks ago......one of my favorite beaches....awesome video showing the beauty.....loved your video on Savannah GA as it is so close....I call it paradise....
Love Beaufort, I am from SC and spend my nights on Lady Island and Hunting Island on St Helena Sound. It has that low country charm like a small Charleston.
This video is perfect timing for me. I live in Michigan and I'm driving down to Beaufort tomorrow for a week. I'm doing day trips to Savannah, Hilton Head and Charleston. I love the low country.
Love it there! I walked that same morning walk to the beach just a couple of weeks ago! love seeing the sun come up out there! When you hear that music, you just have to dance! Glad you persevered to the top. We didn't and didn't get that great view! Go with that beach hair, don't care, vibe! Maritime forest...the best! Lovely video and music!
Thanks, Mike! We might have been there the same time as y'all because this video was filmed a couple of weeks ago. :) Such a beautiful spot, hope y'all enjoyed your visit there as well!
Just ran across your channel, I love it !! I started a RUclips channel a few years ago with no real purpose of direction, doing anything from haunted, abandoned, and vlogs. I finally have found what I want to document. It will take some time but eventually I want to be able to travel and document some epic places. Thank you guys for sharing I just joined your RUclips fam 👍
OK. I've sorta been semi-binge watching your videos. This one earned me as a subscriber. I live in the South Carolina midlands and will get up at 3 am...just to drive to Hunting Island to photograph sunrise (although I'm usually at the southern end of the island at the boneyard beach). Love your videos and love watching your interaction...and your travels. Best wishes.
My family moved to Aiken, SC (a town where there were only English saddles) when I was 3 and I grew up there. Most folks were from all over the US. Never listened to country music until I spent a lot of time while my daughter was learning to horseback ride “Western”. And grew to love it!!! I love lots of different kinds of music.
oh how I have a love/hate for Beaufort !!! I spent 14 weeks there while I was in Marine Corp bootcamp..fighting the sand fleas and snakes..ha. after I grad we spent the night there cause my mom wanted to visit the town..I was like I wanna go home!!! fun fact. the marines only have 2 bootcamp locations Pendelton San Diego and Parris Island Beaufort pretty much on the same longitude..and female marines only trained at Parris island up until I think couple months ago..great video
Definitely visit the Beaufort area! Not too far and a lovely, slow paced town. Charleston and Savannah are definitely worth a stop, too. Oh, and Cumberland Island, GA is a favorite of ours now!
My daughter, son in law and I will be stopping in Chattanooga on May 31st on our way to Florida. In one of your videos you took a bike ride through town and ate at a restaurant. What was the name of it? Daily Portion or something like that?
Beaufort and the sea islands (Hunting Island in particular) have been family favorites of ours since the early 70's. We visit twice a year until retirement....then it's time to buy and spend our winters there. It's our "Happy Place" for sure! We hope you got a chance to check out Beedo's......awesome new eatery on the Sea Island Pkwy....St. Helena. Love your videos......safe travels!!
Woah. I was vibing for the entire video- until you got literally to the end of the marsh board walk and said “ugh I’m tired I’m going to turn back” I’m mostly disappointed for you guys to miss the end of the boardwalk at sunset! AND you didn’t visit the pier! The views at sunset and the dolphin activity at both places is something to see!
How funny - we just sold our 49’ catamaran sailboat (liveaboard & cruiser for years) and are now in our very small travel trailer. We’ve cruised, sailed and now are on land. Oh, and when we bought the boat, Beaufort SC was her home port. 😳
No way!!! Such a small world! If our paths ever cross we'd love to grab a coffee or beer with y'all and hear about the pros and cons of land vs. water travel.
Chris and Sara we bought the boat in Florida and freighted it to Ensenada. Had it there for a bit, then Southern CA, then Mexico for a year and a half. We cruised our Columbia 50’ for 3 years in Mexico prior. We’d love to share our experiences!
I go down there quite a bit and the place we have is just passed the taco spot. Haven’t tried it yet but will definitely give a shot next time I’m down. Actually we’re at hunting island this passed weekend. Beaufort area is my getaway from everything! Love the vid.
I've recently subscribed to your channel and I've really been enjoying your channel and your informative and fun adventures to small towns. I also love seeing real people like you living the life of your dreams. It's a dream of mine to someday travel to America's small towns and peaceful places.
Thanks, Pamela! And welcome to our channel! :) America's small towns are definitely a special way to experience the country. We'll keep showing those small towns so you get more ideas of where you should go when you hit the road, too. :)
We love following Gone with the Wynns but this is the first we're hearing of Wild We Roam. So looking forward to following their travels now, too. Thanks so much for sharing!!
Do y’all still live there? I’m originally from there and I lost my home to a fire and I miss it badly down there we are in southern Ohio now we all made it out safely thankfully cuz we were not home my neighbor caught my cat and saved her for me in her laundry room ? Until we came back from eating in Savannah Ga for my birthday. I was 15 almost 16 I miss it to this day down there I’m in my 20’s now lol. Also? I just subscribed I’ll subscribe on my other channel as well.
I miss it badly down there and this is me also for some reason my first reply to my other comment didn’t show up until now and I subscribed on this account , I post on this one and use the other for watching and commenting . I used to post on it. And I do the same on this one some times anyways I deleted the other comment.
I lived four year in Beaufort I was stationed at the MCAS. In the beginning I didn't like it much but the last year , I absolutley loved it to the point that I miss it. I got transfered to San Diego after so it wasn't so traumatic.
I’ve thought about sailboat or a trawler for a while. I’d love to get a catamaran hull boat. So smooth and the width is really nice! Adding Beaufort to the list!
You two are the masters of these town visits. Really enjoying them. Thanks. Notice this one shows up as Chris & Sarah versus Let’s Be Us. Branding change? Love your work!
Thanks, y'all! We're loving the small towns, too. Such a fun way to experience America. And there may or may not be an announcement coming Sunday morning. 🙃
We lucked out and got a spot about a week before! Although I know that's rare. I would check last minute reservations if you're able to travel spontaneously. The campground still had open spots due to cancellations while we were there. :)
oh I like the video of traveling to different places especially since i am planning my traveling around the different states in a month, and I'm in currently in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, if you get to be here, would think it would be really cool to have to lunch with you, and I buy you lunch anywhere you want to go, and I'm just starting to get put together my traveling plans for the summer, I am going to be driving from here to Georgia then Florida then going back up and then heading to the western states
This is first time I happened upon you. Enjoyed it! Consider me a new subscriber. I was there years ago when my stepdad was transferred to Parris Island base. Nice climate.
This is the first time we've ever heard of them (although I have no idea how that's possible)! So looking forward to following their travels. Thanks so much for mentioning them!
Check out Gone with the Wynn's RUclips channel for information about buying a boat. They RVed for 7 years and videoed much of it and then decided they wanted to sail and bought a catamaran. Go back where they researched and purchased their boat and what their travels have been the last 4 years.
Super helpful!! Thank you to you both! We've followed them for a bit but had no idea they had info about the buying process. Definitely going back to watch those. :)
When I was 10 we taken in a small boat to look at Fripp Island. We couldn’t go far because there were wild hogs on the island. There were just beginning to sell plots of land on this uninhabited island. My parents didn’t land but should have. Kinda sad there aren’t many of those left.
Oh wow! So crazy to think of Fripp Island like that! I road my bike down there but it's a gaited community and I couldn't get on the island past the end of the bridge. It's nice Hunting Island still has a bit of a remote feel. :)
When you say you've been to 49 out of 50 states I immediately start trying to guess which one you've missed. I saw you drive to Alaska so I'm guessing Hawaii?
We have been looking at upgrading to a live aboard boat here lately. I would be glad to help you in any way I can. If you have not watched any of his videos, check out Sailing Doodles, he has done sail boats and is now gone to a motor boat. let me know if you are interested in going for a ride in our current boat on Chickamauga Lake.
Us cities folks are still going to call this a town. It's a small community compare to other cities. Beaufort is a great town or even a great city. Use to live in Port Royal, which you can call that a town and not a city. :-)
watching this now .. sent y’all an Insta message about Gone With the Wynns (BoatLife channel y’all should check out) … and the first pics in my Insta feed was the ‘Many Moods of Kramer’ album ❤️❤️❤️ #KDawgismyfave

@@chrisandsara oh ya totally! Also don’t know if you remember me...I’m Heidi & Justin’s friend from CT. My husband & I moved back to Seattle. We still have a big driveway if you need some shore power, shower, water, laundry, or game night with friends. Be well ✌️❤️🌞 The Bakers

This makes me want to reread some Patrick Conroy books.

SC + Ben Rector = perfect combo 👌🏼
Just purchased an acre of land in Beaufort!! Can’t wait to build my dream home 😍

We traveled for 3 summers and went to over 30 states. Hunting Island, and Beaufort S.C. was out favorite stop.
Thank you for featuring Beaufort🙂It is a lovely place to live in and move to!
It really is! ❤
I totally agree the marsh just puts you in a total relaxed state. We go once a year in the fall its my favorite time in low country.
