Anyway when my Great-Uncle Died the gun went to his father/my great grandpa. It became the family gun. Everyone knew where he kept it and where the ammo was, all 4 much younger remaining siblings, and all grew anxious as he got real up there in years, which he really did do: lived 102 years. My grandma from him who I live with as retained at the very least 90% cognition/memory and she is 95. People always assume she is a decade and half younger as did a lady in an elevator today. She is smart and her idea for where the gun should go was a museum or donated to the Police station in his name to be upon the wall of antiques. My cool great-uncle (I have a Kar-98 bayonet, he also left me a Dali drawing) was very anxious about the gun. They all were and primarily wanted it out of the house. I'm fairly confident I know why beyond general anxiety, OCD runs deep within the family and will have you imagining graphic worst case scenarios incessantly, of which your control is severely limited. It will have you imagining shooter your loved one or committing suicide. Not because you want to but because you DONT. OCD makes you obsess over what disgusts you the most, common for a person w/ it when holding a knife to think how they could stick it in the loved one before them's back, and worse than blaming themselves for these thoughts and contemplating if they actually are evil for thinking it and even more scary is thinking you might or definitely do it. Farm more than germs OCD is, however that was my first obsession, vividly recall such at 4, imagining the floor as I walked in the shadow of the twin towers when they still stood buzzing, moviing with rainbow colored germs, like a layer of all maggots moving and looking like a solid mass collective, So the gun had to go, the less-cool great uncle of mine said NO to donating it to the Police. "They will steal it he said." Which is foreshadowing. Behind his older sister's back he went into her home (he didn’t live there) and took it, cool-uncle who also lived there approved most likely. He really wanted it out. So great new! Less cool-uncle just so happened to have a brother who he himself was an expert in firearms, as one would be making his Money as a Gun Dealer. His wife convinced him to lend it to him for safekeeping. The guy kept it safe... for like a week. It is reported back that the family heirloom (which the wife didn’t give a fuck about) has been sold. Gone. Didn’t ask or even give a heads up, my G-Uncles father's gun is gone. The Brother of the wife I'm sure fetched a pretty penny for a Walther with the SS engraving authentic. I guess he made like 2 grand which was a lot back then, plus the fact it only increased in value. So what does he do? He comes over to my Uncle with a box filled with workout equipment.... as I guess a peace offering or a "fair trade." My uncle didn’t even get it. He refused to accept it. Lol. So he made sure he really got nothing, no misc. used work out equipment, used workout equipment really goes up in quality lol. Box of a couple hundred bucks at best? And of course he couldn’t get that amount of cash by liquidating it. No, my Uncle (who spent 5 years preparing for Priest hood before bailing, a man who is always talking about morality) stole from my grandma and robbed the future family at large. He should have had the sones to demand it back although that likely couldn’t happen so he should have demanded the profits, of which the slimey guy would likely lie and onnly give a piece of if he even did that. What is enraging is what happened to the Nazi Ceremonial Sword and Dagger combo my cool uncle had proudly amongst his art he got all over Korea and Europe. Sadly that cool uncle died. My less cool uncle happened to see when he came over to look at what would be split up at my 10 y/o eyes were fixated on those two things. He leaves. Comes back later when my grandma isn’t home and retrieves them, diid the same shit again because he didn’t want his nephew to take "what was his." It was more my grandma's like the gun too as she was closer with cool uncle, made him dinner every night and was at his bedside when he was dying 24/7 when her sister "just couldn’t" see him when he was in his last days in hospice. Uncle wasnt there everyday. What pisses me off is that I know he doesn’t find knives nearly as interesting to me and I imagine they are rusting away somewhere whereas I would have made repair... only one to notice it was needed. (Have fond memories of my cool uncle always showing off those knives to me, as his only nephew he adored him I'd guess he wanted me to have them. Well like the Kar98 bayonet (worth extremely less compared to the other Nazi shit but irrelevant) was only saved from my Uncle's mitts because his brother didn’t show him the knife collection in a drawer in his room. Amused he didn’t get it.... technically don’t have it right now because when I was a late teen my mother took it and threw it in my Grandma's storage bin. Considering she is a hoarder... yeah not exactly an easy find. My dad and I are going to clear that out soon but in the past my grandma would only let us touch specific things, make it so an hour of work results in just one short humble pile. Thus ends the rant.
Does he do letters lol, it's so hard to find German veterans. I almost had the chance to exchange words with Otto Carius but unfortunately he passed away. I would love to write a personal letter to your father in law to ask about his view on the war as not many WWII German veterans got a chance to get their word out.
I am trying to find just the scabbard. I have an early HJ Knife with a very short ricasso. The maker is J.A Henckels.Solingen, Zwillingswerk. The blade is 5 3/8" in length and overall knife length is 9 9/16”. I appreciate any help on this.
was looking at HJ knife the other day and it was a M7/112 Carl Wüsthof-Gladiatorwerk, Solingen the only thing throwing me off is that it has a brown scabbard, is this post war? repro? any information would be greatly appreciated
Hello how are you. I found an old dagger in my house, on the blade it says solingen R.W and it doesn't say anything else, on the rhombus of the handle it doesn't have the swastika, nor any other logo, they have uprooted what was there. I would like to ask you how much my dagger may be worth since I have no idea how much to sell it for, nor do I know what year it is or if it belonged to the youth. Cheers!
my hanger is from leather btw, and the hard piece feels like plastic? in know the knife is very old because my dad have it from the past when he was a child. (60 is he now)
Merry Christmas to you in Germany & everyone else. It seems to me that most of the WW2 bootey found its way to the U.S. with the returning GIs. 102 original Youth Knives for sale today on my site.
I found a Hitler Youth knife for sale in my local market, was thinking of buying it but had second thoughts, it was dated 1938 I think, and had no ricasso, no motto, had a brass/gold diamond fixed firmly into it as the white and red was worn off from it, the end of the blade is slightly bent and all rusted to hell, would you say this is original? (he put it up for sale for £120 (around $140) but since it wasn't selling he lowered it to £40 (around $50-$60)
Considering the condition, it probably is original. You can't really fake rust when repro'ing a product, and when they do try to make it look rusty, it's kinda obvious that it's fake cause the rust color doesn't come onto your hands. So, most likely, it's real..
The knife you describe is one of the variations of the "DJ" knife .$175 is a very reasonable price for a "DJ" with the HJ diamond on the scabbard. I have over 100 Hitler Youth Knives for sale on my site today.
If you still have any I’ll buy them all. I own 54 of these and I have many other things of that time period in my collection. I know it’s along timepiece the release of the video, but if you still have some of them, I’d be interested.
how the hell do you find that many?! lol very nice collection, but i'm confused on the explanation for spotting fakes i guess i will have to watch it again
Well, tbh, I have owned a couple, but you can't really wash them with sope and stuff. All you can really do is pick off the dirt, and polish it. If you want to take your chances of washing them with sope and stuff, go ahead and look it up. If not, what I said is pretty much all you can do..
i have the exact same knife, got it from my dad few days ago. The diamond ist on it anymore. it have the solingen mark on the begin of the knife. but nothing elks on the blade of markings. it looks so much the same as what you showed. I wonder if i have a HJ knife. I already looked for an new diamond to replace it. But cant find a new diamond...
+Jan Jaap my hj knive has the same problem as your's i don't think it's a replica but a hj knive made after the war solingen still make those knives if it is the same as mine you van see made in germany on the scabbard sorry for my english i speak dutch and i think you 2
Very good tutorial. Bought myseldf a H J knive from F. W. Höller , Solingen. Could verifier it with the help of the tutorial as before 1936, with "Blut und Ehre, Company marking of "F.W. Höller Solingen", no ricasso and no RZM-Marking. Thank you and greetings Germany.
Hi do you have an email I can send me pctures of a knife . After watching you clip this knife is an RZM M7/42 WKC SOLINGEN. The diamond has the loose tapping sound and it's in fantastic condition. It only has the details one side of the knife and nothing (clear ) Inthe other . Any advise or info would be appreciated. Thank you. Nick
There are 2 different sizes of diamonds . I do a youtube piece on diamonds which explains it. I have standard original diamonds & also repro diamonds for sale today. Hot link to my email from my start page. d.d.h.
The Peter Boyle is a 1st. Although my 6 kids may have compared me to Frankenstein(a character he played) a few times. Good luck with the collecting & be careful. Now is a good time to get in because prices are down. The vast majority of young people don't care about this stuff. d.d.h.
whymeddsd Alright I will get a hold of you when my summer vacation is over. A couple of weeks from now thanks a lot and I was wonder how much would you sell one for in fair condition Roughly?
I've been looking to find out if ive got a hitler youth knife thank you for posting this vid as I now know ive got one im just in the proses of sorting it out as its in bad reper sorry for my spelling
Hi there can anyone help me please quite quickly. I know the video is quite old but I have the chance to purchase a youth knife with a wooden handle? I literally cannot find anything regarding ones with wood handles. Are they legit? It says it is. Thanks and any help appreciated
Lots of those knives came to the United States in a bag after the war and yes many were damaged and someone made a handle for it I have a tiger model and I bought it of a ww11 vet who got it off of a dead tank commander I made a handle but not wood. Lots were also imported and sold as hunting knives with bone handles
Wusthof is a relativly common HJ maker. I have only one in my inventory now. It is a dual marked 1941 dated & is $450. youtube will not allow a hotlink. The knife is HJ315 on my website HJ page. d.d.h.
I have 121 HJs & 3 DJs for sale today. You know how many HJs is enough ?? A A couple more. I am cleaning out the parts drawer & have listed some stuff on Ebay today.
Cant go wrong with WD40 if you have to clean. I don't use any oil or lube on the youth knives. If a blade is in bad enough condition a sanding block with 600 grit sandpaper will clean it up followed with semichrome to polish if warranted. My preference is to do nothing. 105 Youth Knives for sale today on my site .
Does anyone know if the Hitler youth knife was patterned after the German scout knife or if the German scout knife was patterned after the Hitler youth knife? I have a German scout knife that looks identical to the Hitler youth knife except it has a flour-de-lis in the diamond on the grip rather than a swastica...
Your scout knife was a youth knife at one time. After the was it was mandatory to remove the diamond and remove the moto if it was on the blade. The Red diamond was replaced with the blue and white like you have and given to scouts.
The blade shape is realitivly consistant other than the ricasso & thickness . I have never seen a differently shaped blade that iI believed tobe period. d.d.h.
If that is ment as a positive coment thanks. I have been playing with this stuff for about 30 years now. I paid $35 for my first HJ & $125 for my 1st early SA .
I randomly found one and I think it belongs to my grandpa but the one I have it dossent have the name on the blade and the handle diamond dossent have the swastika and the top of the diamond is red and the bottom is white and I have no idea if it is fake.
Hi whymeddsd. Can you please help me urgently? I have the chance to purchase a youth knife in England but it has a wooden handle from 1941 I believe my dad said. It looks legit. I'm just really struggling to find anytging online about ones with wood handles. Any info would be great and thank you in advance
@MutterUndKind No, yours is exactly what you have stated....a Boy Scout knife. Actually, alot of idiots go ahead and stick an HJ diamond on it and try to sell them as HJ knives.
brass sides stainless blades. Sounds like post war often see item with a couple variations one is ss marked.I will be at the SOS in Louisville next(not this) weel. Largest antique militaria show in the world. d.d.h.
My diamond won’t move and mine’s unmarked except for the number 420 on the part of the blade where the rzm code would normally be. Shit it’s Marked Germany
Very informative! All history should be preserved, no matter what people say. Thanks for posting.
I have a knife that you do not have in your collection
What kind of knife is it?
Absolutely. Made the mistake of posting mine that my grandfather said I could have when he died, fairly certain it is legit but not only did Reddit make me doubt but got conversation about Ethics, stuff like "i dont know if I would be able to own one of these... idk why anyone would want this."

Got email?
stevejpm1 Yes I have email
stevejpm1 Hey man, just wondering if you could get back to me about your father in law?
dude did you made contact with his dad ? i am asking because i am intrusted too.
love your videos and have helped me go onto collect these nice HJs.
Most collectors prefer to leave blades alone or to do only a light cleaning. Buffed blades usually equate to lower value.
Thank you for the information. I have only seen obvious repops being sold as such.
Very interesting, great collection, thank you.
I am trying to find just the scabbard. I have an early HJ Knife with a very short ricasso. The maker is J.A Henckels.Solingen, Zwillingswerk. The blade is 5 3/8" in length and overall knife length is 9 9/16”. I appreciate any help on this.

Great video! Do you have any tiger made ones?

what is best to clean and oil with?
my hanger is from leather btw, and the hard piece feels like plastic? in know the knife is very old because my dad have it from the past when he was a child. (60 is he now)
still available?
Do you have any M7/112 Carl Wüsthof-Gladiatorwerk, Solingen? Do they have anything other than an RMZ code?
Do you ever polish these blades as new?
what about M7/83 with a wooden handle
Looking for authentic knife insignia my blade is real but has a boyscout diamond instead of the swastika. Any help would sure be nice.
Merry Christmas to you in Germany & everyone else. It seems to me that most of the WW2 bootey found its way to the U.S. with the returning GIs. 102 original Youth Knives for sale today on my site.
The Legendary Puma Knife Company made so many for the war ! Excellent .
So nice and so far away from home! Greetings from Germany
How much you sellin the early ones for
I found a Hitler Youth knife for sale in my local market, was thinking of buying it but had second thoughts, it was dated 1938 I think, and had no ricasso, no motto, had a brass/gold diamond fixed firmly into it as the white and red was worn off from it, the end of the blade is slightly bent and all rusted to hell, would you say this is original?
I need 2 knifes

very nice collection, but i'm confused on the explanation for spotting fakes
i guess i will have to watch it again

Send me pix & I will be glad to tell you what I see.
Do you some how still have one for sale
There is one on ebay-however, in place of the swastika diamond, there is a floral design instead-does this sound geniune?
I don't think they can show swastikas on eBay is why it may have been disguised.
thats a post WW2 pathfinder boy scout knife.
I have one and says "germany" is not german my blade rigth?
11:15 write on the blade "Blut und Ehre" means Blood&Honor
good god i had no idea they changed them so much !
what do you think a GERMAN 1895 - 1912 MAUSER KNIFE WAR BAYONET is worth?
Yes . Some with leather buffer pads ,some without, some lost to time.
Fantastic

I have a RZm m7/72 1939 i’m having a hard time finding Anything about it if you can help me much appreciate it
What do you want to know about it that my RUclips piece doesn't explain ?
How do I purchase?
i have almost the same knife but my have diffrent blade and the diamond is a scout flavor.
solingen still makes knives today,& they're very good
about how much did they cost back when they were produced ?
Well an British Stein 9mm cost 5.50 when made. So a knife was probably 35 cents
If a HJ knife has a missing diamond can i just buy an ordinary Hitlerjugend badge (diamon) or do i need to buy an special kind?

The Peter Boyle is a 1st. Although my 6 kids may have compared me to Frankenstein(a character he played) a few times. Good luck with the collecting & be careful. Now is a good time to get in because prices are down. The vast majority of young people don't care about this stuff. d.d.h.

Hi there can anyone help me please quite quickly. I know the video is quite old but I have the chance to purchase a youth knife with a wooden handle? I literally cannot find anything regarding ones with wood handles. Are they legit? It says it is. Thanks and any help appreciated
No original wood gripped HJs. d.d.h.
Lots of those knives came to the United States in a bag after the war and yes many were damaged and someone made a handle for it
I have a tiger model and I bought it of a ww11 vet who got it off of a dead tank commander I made a handle but not wood. Lots were also imported and sold as hunting knives with bone handles
All listed & priced on my site ddsdaggers
Wusthof is a relativly common HJ maker. I have only one in my inventory now. It is a dual marked 1941 dated & is $450. youtube will not allow a hotlink. The knife is HJ315 on my website HJ page. d.d.h.

" Ach, mein Herr - Messer und Jugendlichen - diese beiden Dinge einfach nicht gut mischen im wirklichen Leben! "
Cant go wrong with WD40 if you have to clean. I don't use any oil or lube on the youth knives. If a blade is in bad enough condition a sanding block with 600 grit sandpaper will clean it up followed with semichrome to polish if warranted. My preference is to do nothing. 105 Youth Knives for sale today on my site .
thanks for the video by the way. i have a couple hj knifes and have been tricked in my time with a fake.
I am not dead yet. Working up the ambition to do a piece on U.S. Air Force Survival Knives.
How do i contact you? Email address? I have a hitler youth knife im not sure if its fake or not
Are you JangBrick studios? If not I don't mean to sound offensive, it's just you guys have almost the same exact voice
+SNUBBIEZ091 _ No I am not the Lego Guy.

@MutterUndKind No, yours is exactly what you have stated....a Boy Scout knife. Actually, alot of idiots go ahead and stick an HJ diamond on it and try to sell them as HJ knives.
